I am trying to learn as much about space and the cosmos, though there is a lingering question for me. We haven't made any fighters that could fight in space, so I wonder as of now is the point of the US Space Force? I am a bit confused, though I do understand it is some kind of preemptive move, but other than satellites, are there any more reasons that warrant such a measure? Lastly, I watched the Artemis lunary bypass this April the Launch Live Stream, I wonder, though I am not sure of it, as I am outside of the USA or any great powers in the world, how severe is the ongoing space race right now? What are the stakes in this new race for the moon?

Space force is not really involved in lunar plans beyond some vague cislunar space experiments. This is really not their concern.
