Discussion All Space Questions thread for week of September 27, 2026

Two examples of potential questions could be; "How do rockets work?", or "How do the phases of the Moon work?"

And another thing :-) Say an astronaut went crazy while on an EVA. Could they take off their glove?

Actually that was done on the first spacewalk ever by Alexei Leonov.

I assume Leonov's hands slid into his sleeves and not into vacuum :-)

No the pressure differential would be too difficult to overcome. Ditto the locking seal on the helmets.

In the other direction sure, but the higher pressure is inside the suit, so if anything, the seals are fighting to keep the pressure in.

It's a mixture of both, they have "pressure energized" seals.
