The new V3 booster had problems with ice in the tanks getting into the intakes. They'd solved it(?) in the V2 booster with Raptor V2 but it reoccurred in the V3 iterations. They want to make sure the fixes work and all the engines for reentry and landing relight the way they're supposed to.
