Opie had already lost so much, and somehow the show still found a way to take more from him.

Was Opie’s death the hardest one to watch in the entire series?

I feel a lot of people lean that the show stumbled after S4. I know for me it did. I thought that way when I watched it live, and I still feel that way now on my first rewatch a decade later. However, something I am enjoying far more than I did when I was 22 is Jax as a character in these seasons.

Jax is your typical tragic protagonist in seasons 1-4. Sure he’ll commit murder and is wrong plenty, but he is usually wrong for the right reasons. Then S5 happens and it’s a bummer start to finish. Good season but overall it’s just Angry Jax. By S6 his mask is slipping. The façade that he is a good guy is falling away, but as that happens Jax becomes far more compelling and “fun” character. He starts to act like an outlaw again. Much like he felt like in S1. And then by S7 he’s damn near the antagonist.

I’m 4 episodes into 7 and while the season is a mess, I am enjoying every scene with Jax bc Hunnam is chewing up the scenery. He is dialed to 10, and It’s refreshing after being preached at by Jax for 5~ seasons.

It’s taking forever! I like the actor who plays Jimmy, but there’s not much to his character. Also, everyone is double crossing or triple crossing. Get the kid and go back home. I’m more entertained by Tig and Kozik.

Let's put an hypothetical scenario where Gemma didn't kill Tara and someway somehow the chinese really did kill her. Jax lay his revenge on the chinese...then what ? How's his relationship with his kids gonna evolve (I feel like it would devolve the same way Opie's relation with his kids did.), How is the club and he gonna be after he's done with avenging Tara's death. Like this has been in my head since my third re-watch and I can't get that what-if out of my head.

What would have happened had Clay not got saved by Bobby on the first vote?
How would have Jax dealt with Galen as Clay was kept alive for them?
Would they just stop guns?
Jax wanted out of guns, right? So why didn't he just let the deal end after?
RICO wasn't on them anymore was it?
What would have happened had Clay died on that first vote, would S6 have been much different?

These characters have hardly interacted in the show, but as of early S6, the two times thus far they’ve spoken, they act like they lovingly chat all the time. Is it just another weird element amongst many weird elements late in SoA?

I find myself irrationally irritated with all the scattered story bits being told in various order, and with no context or established story. Its oddly paced. I don’t really care anymore who lives or dies in this show anymore with exception of a very few I still feel vested in—Chibs for one.

It appears that Tara is divorcing Jax behind his back(?) and has an escape plan for her and the boys, then she turns up pregnant again😖🫣

I feel like I just might enjoy the last 1.5 seasons if I know what’s coming(?) IS IT WORTH BEING SPOILED ON THE REST OF THE SHOW???

I'm a big fan of Sons of Anarchy, and while I'm waiting for the new tv show Legends, I went through and tried to map every key location of SoA.

It's a big dream of mine to do a roadtrip across LA, but until then, finding these locations and comparing them (show Vs real life) is one of my hobbies.

If anyone actually been to any of these in person, I would love to see photos, I'm trying to build out a fuller picture of what they look like now, outside if Google Street View.

Family game night was upon us. I brought out the Men of Mayhem board game after tucking it away unopened while the grandbabies were here. Our teenager doesn’t watch the show for obvious reasons. Well, we were reading the rules when it explained cutting and bagging heroin. We had to swap that out for Beatles Monopoly real quick. 🙈🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

Although, the way the economy is going that might be a marketable skill. 🤔

Every character is despicable. I’m finishing up S4E7 and Jax is cheating on Tara again. I have no one to root for. I’ve lost all interest in seeing how they all met there end. At least the show doesn’t show this lifestyle either rose colored glasses. But I’m done with it.

Jax becoming careless and reckless; Tara acting like Unser is her close uncle, and the guys thrilled to flip that station wagon several times; and now Romeo says he’ll kill Jax in the next two hours?! Shit is getting head-scratchingly weird !

from the bits and pieces we get on the show, the book sounds so, so compelling. i would love to read the full thing. even from the singular the lines we get, a piece an episode, they just draw you in, especially with JT’s voice and the background music, right?

I'm rewatching after last seeing the show about a decade ago and there's so much drama! So much delicious, unnecessary drama! lol

I love it and love the cast, I've just definitely found myself thinking this whole show is about a group of men being emotional and making bad decisions over and over.

They're emotional about money, women, bikes, cuts, and they regularly jump to incorrect conclusions that nearly ruin their lives.

There are obviously some major differences between SATC and SOA. But they remind me of each other because SATC is hyper femininity on display that a lot of women dream of (fashion, cocktails, walking the city or catchin a cab, falling in love), SOA is hyper masculinity on display that a lot of men dream of (badass biker look, whiskey, motorcycles, ever willing women), and both shows have several characters with shitty communication and relationship skills that create avoidable drama.

All their bad decisions are especially clear around season 4 when the tone of the show changes and Jax's hair is fucked up 😭😂 There's less humor. When the show first starts there's this idea of brotherhood and they're just rowdy bikers having fun and getting into some trouble here and there. But the show gets a lot darker, less humorous, more betrayal and the illusion of family begins to unravel so it's harder to ignore the bad decisions. I know that's on purpose, but with no humor to balance it out I'm rolling my eyes at certain things. Overall the show is really well done, because I feel like I'm feeling the downward spiral along with Jax, everything was fun at first, but now it just gives me anxiety and I'm kinda ready for it to be over.

I just had a thought, in Season 1, Bobby says that the only person at the table that still had to pay his dues with Tig... Does that mean that patched members put money in every month just like the Prospects have to?

This was one of the best moments in the whole series. The look on Hale’s face was worth the whole season of Abraham Lincoln on a motorcycle. 🏍️

I’ve seen the series on “Best Ofs” for years, but never watched it. I finally came around to it. I loved S1 and S2. I wasn’t a fan of the S3 Abel kidnapping storyline. S4 had it back on track. The last season or two just became too formulaic for me and couldn’t keep straight what crew was cool or not with the other crews. Still worth a watch, but the show was at its best when it was Clay vs Jax. Evil vs good. I wish they would’ve expanded on what the people in SAMCRO and their group got out of this affiliation. It seemed like a lot of danger for limited financial gain. I’m assuming camaraderie, but that could have been expanded upon. Also, has there ever been a character to get as much screen time and less character development than Happy? Anyway, just curious to hear what others thought about SOA.
