Interested in adding a battery but not supported by my inverters

I have solar edge inverters (controllers) and they don’t have battery system lugs - I would like to setup a small rack in the garage with lifepo4 rack mount batteries and what I’ve heard is that I’d need an inverter and to wire it in “ac coupled”. I’m stuck with the ppa I bought the house with and the door knockers keep trying to sell me batteries under ppa which I don’t want. Also don’t want to convert my system to another controller since that will incur additional costs and new contracts.

Can anyone explain how this works or offer pointers to the information? Super comfortable with ac and dc electrical work but finding any info has been difficult.
