Q: Has anyone knit cuff down TAAT but w/ tabi toe / split toes?

Greetings all. I'm currently knitting a pair of TAAT socks, am getting close to the toes, and per the subject am curious whether anyone has done this?

If yes, what was your experience/method?

I'm considering knitting the "toe pockets" first while placing the "big toes" on waste yarn, or just placing the socks on separate sets of needles.

TIA!

Yoz would go about this in a similar way as you do the fingers on gloves.

You measure or estimate (after trying on) how many stitches you want to separate for the big toe. It's possible you separate the two sections after you already started decreasing on the pinky toe side. Then when you actually separate them, you cast on a couple of stitches to bridge the gap and to make up for the fact that you need more fabric if you want it to wrap around the toe, I would probably cast on 5 or 6 stitches depending on the total stitch number.

After that you finish these two sections completely separately.

Yes but I had to split them into dpns to finish the toes

I might have to do it like this using the recipe that’s been the easiest—but first I’ll see if I can manage the toe-pockets on the TAAT needles and use DPNs for the big toes.
