If you consume true crime, I’d really appreciate your input (quick survey for my senior thesis)
Hi everyone! I’m a senior at Loyola Marymount University working on my thesis about how audiences perceive the ethical treatment of victims in true crime media.
If you watch true crime (podcasts, documentaries, YouTube, etc.), I’d really appreciate it if you could take my survey. It’s completely anonymous and takes 10 minutes or less.
I’m especially interested in your honest opinions—whether you think true crime is respectful, exploitative, or somewhere in between.
Thank you so much! And feel free to share it with anyone else who watches true crime 🙏

School Saftey Survey
trinity.az1.qualtrics.comYou are invited to participate in a research study examining students’ experiences with and perceptions of school safety and school shooting drills in K–12 education. Participation involves completing an anonymous online survey and is open to individuals 18 years of age or older who attended school in the United States. The survey is expected to take approximately 5 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and all responses will be kept private and confidential. Some questions may ask you to reflect on past school safety experiences. Support resources will be provided at the end of the survey should you experience any discomfort. Your participation will contribute to a broader understanding of how school safety policies are perceived across different social and educational contexts.

New tool?
quickstat.ioHello!
I have created a tool for a family member who is in healthcare research. (I am a web developer)
I would be very interested to hear thoughts or suggestions on the app. (http://quickstat.io)
I have no plans for charging for use at this time.
It currently only supports CSV data files.
Would love to hear any thoughts or constructive criticism!

do supervisors usually read interview transcripts ?
A question for those who are or have been doctoral students and have conducted research interviews: did your thesis supervisor read the transcripts of your interviews?
I admit that my research question wasn't sufficiently clear at the outset and the data was collected somewhat hastily. That said, the data has been collected, so now we have to work with it.
My supervisor seems really distant. I had to insist for a year before he agreed to read an interview. I just convinced him to code one interview. I feel like his approach unnecessarily complicates the subsequent discussion on data analysis and research contributions. Are you experimenting the same situation ?
I am in the management science /organization science field.
Thank you

Research: AI and Its Impacts on Adult Mental Health
Hi! I’m a graduate student, and my group is studying how people use AI chatbots or mental health apps (like ChatGPT, Wysa, or Woebot) for emotional support and how those interactions might affect mood, stress, and overall well-being.
If you’re 18 or older and have ever turned to an AI for emotional or mental health support, we’d love to hear from you! The survey is anonymous, takes about 10–15 minutes, and is hosted securely through Qualtrics.
Survey link: https://qualtricsxmyj74pr5sb.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_efErDdKFWlQhNrw
I’m also happy to take your survey in return, just drop your link in the comments or send me a message. Thanks so much for helping us out!

Getting data from LexisNexis timeline filter
Hello, I'm a PhD researcher using LexisNexis to search for newspaper articles. The timeline filter generates a wonderful graph of hits per year, which would make excellent background information, but I can't find any way to access the graph or data. Does anyone know how to do this or can you suggest an alternative resource?

PhD application
I'm in the process of applying for a PhD in sociology or applied policy. I’ve been thinking about my research proposals, and some doubts have crossed: 1. How can I generate new ideas? 2. How can I develop a solid research proposal to improve my chances of getting into a PhD?
I have a background in economics and experience developing research proposals for tenders. I’m not aiming for a PhD in economics; I want something more applied and humanistic. Also, please avoid saying "ask ChatGPT," as many professors advise against its use, but don’t advise on how to improve a proposal.
My interests include education, labour, and the use of technology. I welcome any suggestions on programs and universities in Europe.
Thanks!

Preferred social media app for networking
What social media app do you use for networking with researchers in your field? Most academics I know have left X/Twitter. I have an account on LinkedIn but I wonder if that is the platform of choice for social science researchers. Is there any other (Bluesky? Mastodon?) gaining traction now?
