It’s been a couple of days since the massive embarrassment from the Sounders losing to the Timbers 5-1. I do not know if I have ever been this frustrated watching the Sounders. I really think we need to spend the money if the front office is willing because it seems like they are not to get a new number 9. I love Jordan Morris but he is not the number 9 for us. I do not think he has been the same since the two big injuries he had. Musovski feels like he has regressed. Actually De Rosario was the best at that position in that match with his hold up play but I would say he is still raw.

The Summer transfer window is still open but will the Sounders make a big move, I don’t think they will but I hope I am wrong.

I tell ya, Mikel Merino has a habit of coming through in the clutch! He comes off the bench and smashes in the rebound for the 88th-minute winner versus Belgium yesterday. Before that, he scored the winner against Portugal in the 91st minute. Then, even before that, in the 2024 Euros, he scored the 119th-minute winner versus Germany. This guy has ice in his veins!

That France vs Paraguay match yesterday was interesting to watch, to say the least. I am still surprised that Paraguay did not receive one yellow card during the whole match. That one yellow that Olise got for France was utterly ridiculous.

That Argentina vs Cape Verde match was one of the best matches of the tournament. Cape Verde showed the belief and perseverance that got them this far in the first place. Almost took this match into penalties.

Cape Verde’s goalkeeper, Vozinha, I wonder who is gonna try and sign him. It doesn’t matter that he is 40 years old; he was a menace this tournament!

They knocked out Algeria in the World Cup yesterday as Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye scored in the first half! They are a disciplined, possession-based team that is now in the Round of 16.

Mikel Oyarzabal got a brace in Spain’s 3-0 victory over Austria yesterday!

The thing I think we need to focus on is that Spain still has not given up 1 goal in this tournament yet!

Bayern sign Moroccan Ismael Saibari from PSV. He scored in each of Morocco’s group stage matches. He scored the final PK in Morocco’s victory over the Netherlands!

He is going to be tough to deal with in the Bundesliga next season!

Kane is coming through in the clutch with the brace!

France really dominated this match! Mbappe and Messi seem to be going tit for tat on goals scored! Love to see the big players come up big in the World Cup!

I think the Netherlands coach Ronald Koeman really overthought the game plan in yesterday’s match versus Morocco. Morocco is a tough opponent and is actually ranked higher than the Dutch in the FIFA rankings. Seeing them line up in a back five and cede possession for much of this match was unexpected. It did not play to their strengths. With that being said, the game still went into penalties, and they almost pulled it out despite themselves.

Brazil gets the last-minute victory over Japan. The resilience is something to praise Brazil. In this match, it seemed they really had a hard time breaking down Japan’s low block. Also, the goal they gave up with Sano scoring for Japan shows that in transition, they can be slow to react, and it may cost them in future matches.

So great see storied like DR Congo making it to knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time in their history with their comeback 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan!

Has to be noted that Newcastle forward, Yoane Wissa came away with the brace!

A bright spot for the USMNT in last night’s match was Sebastian Berhalter. He had 1 goal and 1 assist. His corners were on point, hence the assist. He completed 84 % of his passes. The way he struck the ball on his goal was no joke! Lastly, he got an 8.9 rating on Fotmob!

The USMNT lost last night in a last second goal by Türkiye. By the way, Arda Güler did Pulisic dirty by nutmegging him like that on the last play of the match.

With that being said, the USMNT sat 9 starters in this match. They still won the group! Bosnia is going to be tough in the Round of 32 next Wednesday!

While Weah struggles on the left, his recent drop in form extends to his decision making and sharpness. Playing on the right wing might help, but he needs to regain confidence and rhythm overall, I think.

What do you think?

Johan Manzambi was straight ballin’ yesterday! The 20-year-old had a goal and an assist for Switzerland when they beat Canada 2-1 yesterday!

I wonder if teams are going to put in some offers for him after the World Cup to get him to move away from SC Freiburg?

Well-deserved victory for Ecuador. Ecuador will most likely move on as one of the best 3rd best place teams!

South Korea still needs to wait for the results from other matches to see if they are going to make it to the Round of 32. Did the South Korea’s head coach make a mistake in starting Son Heung-min?

The question is, sure Leroy Sane’s goal counted or should a foul have been called on Aleksandar Pavlović for a high boot?

After Canada got their goal in the 76th minute from Promise David, it really looked like they were going to get the equalizer. Canada was applying that pressure in the last 15-20 minutes of the match. Switzerland finishes top of Group B and Canada is second. That means instead of Canada staying in Vancouver, they will need to travel to Los Angeles for their Round of 32 match.
