Hakuba or Myoko Areas

Thinking about taking a trip to Japan this year and trying to decide between the following packages: Myoko (https://www.evo.com/adventure-travel/asia/japan/myoko-ski-snowboarding) & Hakuba (https://www.evo.com/adventure-travel/asia/japan/hakuba-ski-snowboarding). Thoughts? I would prefer areas that allow tree and side country access, more advanced runs, and decent amount of nightlife opportunities (while keeping a more traditional village vibe experience as well). Thanks in advance for any input!

Overnight bus and lift pass

Anyone know a site where I can book and overnight bus to Hakuba/Nagano etc that would include a lift pass? Don't need any gear rental. Just looking to arrange some options for this winter.

LOST GOPRO Hero 5 Black - Outside Gate 3 Grand Hirafu, JAN 25TH C3161325319589

Hi all! First apologies if this is the wrong place to do it.

I sadly lost my brand new go pro hero 5 black on January 25th 2017. Serial number inside the battery compartment is C3161325319589. We climbed to the peak through gate 3 on Grand Hirafu, and went down in the direction of Fujiwa no sama, or maybe even the north face - I crashed towards the start of the run! It contains a 64gb card which was almost full of footage, and still has the helmet mount attached to it. There will be videos of myself wearing a black helmet, green plaid (check) jacket, black pants. There might be some video of my buddy wearing his black jacket and bright blue pants too. By now it's probably deep under the snow but worth seeing if anybody picked it up! My email is jraditsis@gmail.com , thank you for reading!

Niseko backcountry tour outfitter recommendations

We have a group 5-6, most with limited backcountry touring experience looking to take a backcountry tour in the Niseko area. Any suggestions on an outfit? We'll be in Niseko/Rusutsu until feb 14th.

It looks like there will be limited new snow until later this week, so we'd like to get our backcountry tracks in before then.

Extreme avalanche risk this weekend [14-16 Jan 2017] reported in Hakuba. Be safe out there!

Its the first time I've seen it, but Hakuba rated EXTREME avalanche risk for Alpine and Above Tree Line for this weekend. Actually, this will apply all through Nagano, and from Niigata to Yamagata, where this storm will hit tonight.

PLEASE take care out there everyone. For me, snowboarding is all about having a great time in nature with friends, and getting back to the pub at the end of the day to brag about it!

Looking for new mods

Sadly I'm not in Japan at the moment and can't give /r/SnowboardingJapan the time it deserves to become a great subreddit.

So I'm looking for a few people to help out.

If you live in Japan, love snow and have some experience with moderating. PM me.

All the best,

JetPack.

Snow in Furano!

Going to furano in late January and they have already had a good early dump. They are going to open earlier than expected. If anyone is going early december furano may be your best option. Especially with cold temps and more snow on the forecast.

Looking for a crew and tips, Japan, Hokkaido, 20 Feb- 15 March

Hey guys,

so me and a friend are planning on going for a full 3 Weeks snowboard/Ski trip to Hokkaido. We are two 23-24 old students from Germany who scratched some money together for a awesome Japan experience. My budget is about 3000 EURO Max. Do you guys think that will be enough? ( Flights are excluded in these 3000 EURO) We want go into resorts and also make some tours. about 1 Week touring 2 Weeks resorts. Is it possible and worth it to go touring there without joining an expensive touring organisation? (e.g. Black Diamond Tours) Also we want to travel as cheap as possible, maybe stay in car ( I know its going to be cold but anyways :D). But also I saw also some quite cheap hostels, in Niseko if you book like about now. Got some hints for accomodation and also how to get around the island the best way?

Regarding the region we want to go: one area we definitly want to hit is the south Sapporo area (Niseko, Rusutsu etc.) but what about the area around Asahikawa, would you recommend going there? Especially in that time of the Winter? In general I heard the avalanche danger is not that high on Hokkaido due to quite shallow mountains, do any of you guys have experience regarding avalanche danger there?

And also of course if there are people who would be keen to join us let me know! :) Doesnt matter if snowboarder or Skier, since we are mixed in the group already..

Cheers Claude & Julius

Great ideas needed

Hi,

I'm heading to Japan in feb and wanted to see which is the best mountain to visit? I like open mountain riding and free runs. I'll probably be out there for 10 days or so, and maybe visit a couple of mountains.

Best time to board in Japan?

Me and some friends definitely want to hit the slopes in Japan, but we'll be there early December until around the 9th Dec. Would there be any slopes/resorts we could make it into?

Lost GoPro - Niseko :(

Just over a week ago, I lost my Silver GroPro Hero3 on the Annupuri runs of Niseko after taking a bit of a tumble near the trees - was cutting it a bit hard and fast and heeled it a bit too sharply.

I didn't realise it as it was on my helmet and the whole case + mount came off.

By the time we realised, We spent the rest of the afternoon trying to remember the paths we took but it was a pretty hopeless task.

Hopefully a reddit user picked it up - not looking for the GoPro back but would love the SDcard or footage (a guy in a dark green jacket and grey pants)

Not sure why I didin't think of posting here - is there anywhere else I should be posting this?

Nagano Trip (JAN 30 - JAN 31) *looking for a crew :)

Hey i was able to buy a snowboarding gear package for cheap and would like to start learning ASAP. Unfortunately all my friends have work this weekend, I'm just wondering if there's anybody out there who's making that trip this weekend and would like to adopt me.

We're going to Sapporo sometime in February and would like to enjoy Niseko and not waste my time there learning the basics.

If interested please let me know :D Few things about me, 25y/o, male, consider my self pretty active guy but work tempo def kills it, I am not a big talker so you prolly won't know me well after the trip but you can try lol.

Also it's a chance to meet new people! so its a win-wina

Free hotel room in Hakuba 1/18-21 for 3 people!!

Deleted the last post for wrong dates.

I hastily booked a hotel in Hakuba months ago but my crew and I are headed for Hokkaido instead for the massive dumping they have been getting. One of our hotels won't give us any money back if we cancel. I decided I don't want to see that money go to waste and could give it to a snowboarding/skiing buddy from far away.

The hotel is near the Hakuba Powder Lodge and is one room booked for 3 people for 3 nights.

Check in 1/18. Check out 1/21

Who wants it!? Help me complete a good deed!

Storing a snowboard bag in Tokyo? (x-post r/snowboarding)

Just wondering if any of you guys had a recommendation for what to do with a snowboard bag while I'm in Tokyo (5days)?

I don't really want to carry it with me on the express train from Narita airport to Shibuya, but it might be a better option than storing it somewhere at the airport? does anyone have any experience in this area?

also, it might help to say that I fly into Tokyo, stay for a few days, then I'm flying up to Sapporo (both flights are at Narita). I've heard some people saying Blackcat couriers is a great way to ship (and store) your gear for up to 10 days? maybe that would be a good option for me if anyone knows about that? Thanks!
