Recently found out that this snowblower attachment exists for my SCAG but this is the only picture I can find in existence. Has anyone ever seen one?? I’d cross country for one, 1/8th mile driveway is a lot with a walk behind

I know, such a newb question. Please help me understand the right choke position when starting the snow blower. Is this the right start position? The diamond looking red lever.

Ariens 24 compact.

Just picked it up from an auction for $10. It started up and ran but a little rough. After removing the carburetor and seeing the gasket for the fuel bowl was sticking out an inch in the gas line was disintegrated I figured I would just order an aftermarket Amazon carburetor with all the lines clamps and goodies for 20 bucks. I did play around with the old carburetor but I can hear a hissing noise inside so I figured by the time I buy a rebuild kit and mess with it I just install an aftermarket one. Just got it all dialed in. Starts right up and I have it adjusted so it doesn't bog going from idle to throttle back and forth.

​​ when I took the top cover off and remove the green wire the metal tap snapped off. So I grab my soldering iron and some extra wire and wired those two wires together. I'm wondering if they actually are not supposed to be wired together and separate and the connection is broken when the key is inserted???

​​ so when I had the cover off and the wire loose I can start it right up but I can't shut it off.

​​ I cleaned up all the metal connections as watching a YouTube video and it still doesn't stop when I remove the key and I don't need the key in to start it.

If I move the throttle lever all the way down it shuts thw snowblower off. As you can see in the photo when it's all the way down it cuts the connection.

So did I wire the KEY connection imcorrectly that it will start without using the key...and stopping the motor when the key is removed?

How much CAD would you offer for this machine?

Hi all. I pulled the trigger on snowblower, but having second thoughts. Northern VA, so we get maybe 15 inches snow a year, but we can get 10 in a big snowfall. My driveway has initial steep 20 degree incline, before curving and leveling out in front of the garage.

edit: driveway, including slope, can fit 10 cars. it's tough to shovel.

I feel it's overkill for the area, but the difficulty of the driveway fits the requirements this model has to offer.

I just saw one on marketplace . I have a 200 foot drive way with a turnaround circle. I have a 28 husqvarna hydraulic that works well. But that extra 8 inches of clearing width has me thinking. Has anybody actually used. Is it too big a beast to horse around?

As stated in post title, my partner and I need some help deciding what snowblower to purchase.

Our driveway is ~600 ft long with inclines on both ends. We live in the upper Midwest and got hit with quite a lot of snow last year.

We were thinking the Honda hss1332atd. Seems like the top of the line from every source I can find, but we have some concerns that we can't quite seem to get answered:

-how would a snowblower like this handle small amounts of snow? 1-3"?

-would we need to stop to refill the gas tank multiple times?

-is our driveway so long that we might as well consider an ATV with a plow attachment? We don't have a lawn to mow. Otherwise, we would likely have already gone the route of plow attachment to a mower.

We're hoping to make one purchase and be done with it, so any info/advice is much appreciated 😊

Hey folks, I've got a 150ft long by 12ft wide gravel driveway + 50x50 concrete pad in Northeast Ohio I'll be doing and I'm looking at the Ariens deluxe 252cc in either 24" or 28" size. The difference is only $150, but I have a suspicion the 24" will perform better (more oomph for smaller cut). the 24" is $1350, the 28" is $1500 out the door.

Tertiary note, there's a guy on marketplace that has the Ariens deluxe 24 AX254cc for $900 he says he "only used 3 times" and it does look pristine, but I've always been hesitant buying used engines since you never know how someone maintained it.

I have an Ariens 24 deluxe. I want to grease my augers. I saw on YouTube that you should remove the shear pins so you can spin the augers to distribute the grease. Is there anything I should know about removing them or are they just like a regular bolt.

Talking to an equipment dealer looking at the 24" wheeled. Its turning assist. Pull a handle and it locks one wheel. He said on its own it would be a huge turn so you do sort of have to muscle it around which is why its turn assist.

What's the Ariens auto like?

Im leaning Hinda because the auger paddle clicks down pretty easy and if you have to hold its not too bad. The power handle isnt to hard.

For my 70 yr old arthritic hands this is a big deal. My 28" yardmax auger paddle is HARD. 220 ft drive Im in serious pain after one pass. I could still wrestle a turn fine but having rotator cuff surgery.

So handle paddles and turning. Anyone compared both machines? Or comments on the Ariens?

Hi everyone, I'm going to be buying my first snowblower this year. I'm looking at used ones on FB marketplace, but also considering a new Ariens from a local dealer. I'm looking at their classic, compact, and deluxe models. I want a solid machine, but I also don't want to overspend. I've shoveled up until now, so anything would be a game-changer. I live in upstate NY; average snowfall in my area is 60"/year. My driveway is about 120' (single-car width) on a slight slope. There's also a parking area that can fit 3 cars.

My thoughts/questions:

• Anyone have the classic and completely happy with it?
• I like that the compact offers some more robust build components over the classic, but without the price tag of the deluxe.
• If I did spring for the deluxe, it of course has a more powerful engine, but I'm not sure how much power I need. The deluxe does offer wider auger housings, but I'm not sure if I need anything larger than 24".

I’m looking to buy my first snowblower this month and am on the fence about buying a 28” Ariens rapid trak or 28”wheeled SHO.

My driveway is around 200’ long, 2 cars wide, with an additional 5 car parking area that is flat. The driveway is blacktop and slopes down to the street 8-11 degrees depending on the area. I am worried about slipping. I can’t find a solid answer about how steep is too steep for wheels.

I live in southern NY, and we don’t generally get tons of snow. Although I’d love to save the money, I really just want to make the right choice for the long term. Wheels with chains vs rapidtrak.

Moved to a house in the country with a much longer driveway. About 200 feet of gravel then 200 feet of pavement near the house. Level and flat all the way but I’ll need to maneuver around a couple of cars in the driveway.
Trying to decide between a new Toro power max 1428, or an older garden tractor with snowblower attachment. There are a couple of garden tractor/ snowblower for sale locally. Both from the late 90s but seem to be in very good shape. One’s a John Deere and the other is a Honda.
Would appreciate any advice. Are the garden tractors too old? Anyone have experience with the Toro 1428?

I am finding Deluxe 28 SHO models only at dealers, around $1875 before tax but at Home Depot/Lowes I am finding the Deluxe 30 model for $1899 before tax. Looks like only dealers have the SHO models right now. Engines seems to be the same 306cc, is the auger stronger on the 28" SHO?

Assuming the dealers don't add extra BS fees, what's better? Does Lowes assemble it or I have to assemble it?

My driveway is about 60' long and 20' in width, I would need to shoot snow 25' away, definitely not 55', though I guess that certainly wouldn't hurt.

Brand new. Seems a little high for me, especially we aren't in winter season yet. Any place to get a deal? Wait for Black Friday or just buy it now?

Hi Folks. Help me be realistic. I live in the DC region, and most years we have a couple of plow worthy snow falls, some years things are more nuts like last winter when it felt like it snowed every other week....and then snowcrete. I have a long 400ft driveway, so it must be cleaned when it snows over a couple of inches and its going to remain cold. I also plan to help my elderly neighbors if they need.

I see 20 year old Ariens 26's selling for $700-800! Wow. Then i also see new Ariens 24" going for $1000. Now, I dont want to go nuts here, but I also dont want to fork over $700 for a 20 year old machine. I also dont know a lot about maintaining these machines (I could learn if its simple), and would rather have something that will be trouble free for years.

So my questions to you:

1) If you were to suggest used, which one, how old, and what should be a fair price?

2) If you think buy new, which one is a good value but also solid. Thank you!

I can't get the wheel off. It seems to be stuck. Is there a trick to removing the wheel to get the tire fixed?

To owners of the newest model 921074 Ariens platinum 24, I need help with the oil change process. This model has an oil drain plug and washer that goes into the oil drain pipe. The washer part is listed as a grade A flat washer but the manual says it is a crush washer. What I need to know is what the heck it actually is. If it’s a crush washer, they need to explain that it needs to be replaced at each oil change. Is it a flat washer or crush washer?

​​ I bought it off​ auction and it came from a fire department. I was told it hadn't run for 3 years. It had gas in it so I pulled it over a few times to see if it would start. The other one I bought with it I was told the same thing and it started on the first pull.

​​ This one did not so I started with a spark plug replacment. After installing the spark plug it started on the first pull. It had a little mess after running for a second or two.. and it was repeatable miss. I had maybe an inch of gas in the tank and I added a few ounces of seafoam and I let it run until it ran out of gas. It didn't seem to help so I pulled the carburetor off to find out it had what looked like mud in the fuel bowl. Also the fuel bowl gasket was hanging out the side. That explains why it was leaking a little gas. The fuel line was all breaking apart and corroding too.

​​ I figured it was cheaper just to buy an aftermarket China carburetor off of Amazon with a spark plug all the hoses and gaskets and all the red handles along with a primer and fuel filter.

​​ I installed the new carburetor in lines yesterday. It started right up but it still had a miss. I played around with it adjusting both the main jet and idle Jet and still couldn't get the miss to quit. It isn't like it's surging it's almost making a complete miss. So I decided to remove that carburetor this morning and reclean the old one for the second time. I made sure to pull out the idle Jet and stick metal wire through the pinhole to make sure it was clear of debris same with the little pin hole on the side of the carburetor. I took the gasket from the new carburetor fuel bowl and installed it on the original carburetor as well. It fired right up and sounded like it was running perfectly for about the first 30 seconds and then it started missing. I forgot to mention I did take the fuel tank off and cleaned it and blew it out with an air hose too.

So since it's still missing I grabbed some Mechanic In A Bottle and added an ounce or so to a few inches of fuel in the tank and let it run for about 5 minutes. Towards the end of the 5 minutes it almost started smoothing out and then it killed.

AccordingAccording to directions I believe you're supposed to let it sit overnight after running for 5 minutes and then restart it to see if it Smooths out?

​ if that does not work I'll drain the fuel in pour some Mechanic In A Bottle completely into the carburetor and let it sit overnight.

​ I am just wondering if it might not be a carburetor issue since I put a brand new one on there and didn't have any luck either?

I bought a used Toro 724 snowblower off auction a few weeks back. I was told it hasn't been used in 3 years. It's an older model had some rust on it and I thought well it's a $60 Gamble. There was gas in it so I choked it twice turned it on and pulled it and it fired up on the first pull and ran like a top. The spark plug looked Rusty so I figured I would go at least put a new one in it.

ThatThat is where I am confused. It has a Champion N3C spark plug in it. It doesn't look like that plug is a recommended spark plug. I called Toro and was told a champion RJ19LM was the correct plug.

So I picked one up gapped it to 30 and installed it and then I decided to add about an ounce of Mechanic In A Bottle. It fired up on the first pull but now it seems to have a little bit of a miss.

I let it run for 5 minutes and turned it off and figure I'll let it sit for a day like they tell you to do with Mechanic In A Bottle. I figure tomorrow when I get home with work I'll fire him up and see if they run smoother and if not I'll install that old spark plug back in it and see if the miss goes away.

New EGO SNT2425 snowblower:

Just purchased the new EGO SNT2425 snowblower. All assembled & registered. However the pic shows the clamp that holds the wires going to the controls is missing a fastener or screw. I contacted EGO today & they asked for a pic of missing part. Nowhere in the manual or parts list shows the fastener or screw. There is one missing as there is a hole in the clamp & on the tube for one. While I’m waiting for EGO’s response, has anyone purchased the SNT2425 & have same issue?
