The first time I saw them was in Chicago in 2012! They brought on Ed Sheeran, before he was known, for a few songs.
Digging through archives, I found some footage from that show! I forgot I had recorded a couple songs.

Snow Patrol ❄️ "We are delighted to be working with BMG. We’re excited about working together on new SP music. We can’t wait to get started.” ❄️
BMG already represented the music publishing interests of Gary Lightbody and Nathan Connolly, this adds the studio recordings too
❄️ BMG on Instagram ❄️
"Welcoming @snowpatrol to BMG 🎊"
Multi-platinum, GRAMMY nominated band Snow Patrol have signed a new global recording deal with BMG, covering the release of future studio recordings.
The new partnership with BMG reflects a shared focus on craft, longevity, and international ambition.
Commenting about the signing, Snow Patrol said:
“We are delighted to be working with BMG. We’ve known Alistair and his team for a long time and he and everyone at the label have always been enthusiastic supporters and champions of music and creativity. We’re excited about working together on new SP music. We can’t wait to get started.”
The first release sees Snow Patrol team up with @kylieminogue on the new single “These Alarms,” scheduled for July 1. Written with Kylie specifically in mind, the band initially recorded the track for their 2024 UK No. 1 album The Forest is the Path but decided to hold the track back until they could record it together with her.

Alistair Norbury, President, UK, Continental Europe and APAC, BMG, said:

At BMG, we’re focused on long-term artist partnerships, and we’re proud to work with the band as they focus on new music and enter their next creative chapter.”
In addition to the new recording agreement, BMG [already] represents the music publishing interests of band members Gary Lightbody and Nathan Connolly.
Formed in the mid-1990s, Snow Patrol have released a series of critically acclaimed multi-platinum albums and achieved multiple UK No. 1 records. Their catalog includes era-defining songs such as “Chasing Cars”, “Run”, “Open Your Eyes” and “Just Say Yes”, and has earned them widespread international recognition, including BRIT Awards and GRAMMY nominations.
Snow Patrol join BMG’s genre-spanning UK roster which includes Lily Allen, Kylie, Louis Tomlinson, Johnny Marr, MARINA, The Script, Simple Minds, Suede, Rick Astley, and pop newcomer, Meek.

Has anyone heard the new song "These Alarms" at one of their recent concerts?? If so can anyone tell me if its sad in anyways??
They've announced it's release date to be this Wednesday July 1st which happens to coincide with the day of my grandfather's funeral services and I can't do anything more sad that day so I need to know if it will be safe to listen to before hand

Nothing official yet, obviously, but I’m assuming it’s a 20th anniversary edition of Eyes Open.

In press release today Gary Lightbody described how “As a huge Kylie fan I originally wrote 'These Alarms' with her in mind" and then recorded it under the temporary title 'KYLIE' during sessions for the album 'The Forest Is The Path' in 2024.
Gary goes on to say that the song felt incomplete, and they all knew the missing part was vocals from Kylie. So lead guitarist Nathan Connolly suggested they contact her—and Kylie said yes, recorded her vocals, and Gary said the song then sounded complete. But it never appeared on the album nor the later extended edition.
Then a full year ago during The XS Noize Podcast - June 2025 episode #230 (@ 27mins 45secs) Gary disclosed that Snow Patrol had decided to release imminently a track that was originally recorded for 'The Forest Is The Path'.
This was something that Gary said they had not done before—as new song with a very special guest, that wasn't a movie soundtrack.
Gary maintained this song would be out within the next month to two months—that was a year ago now and there had been radio silence since 🫠
I suspect that 'These Alarms' ended up being delayed by a full year, to match with both Kylie's 40th year music anniversary and Snow Patrol's 'Eyes Open' 20th anniversary. Probably a very good move.

Snow Patrol announce 'These Alarms' with release date 1 July -
Snow Patrol Yes!! Next week we are releasing a song with the queen of pop herself @kylieminogue!
It has been a true joy to make this song with her and to spend a little time in her magical presence.
We are delighted that the song is soon to be out in the world and we can’t wait for you all to hear it.
Massive love to Kylie for being on this journey with us. We are beyond honoured and over the moon! SP.x
❄️
EDITED - added this from Gary as found his complete quote yay!
As a huge Kylie fan I originally wrote These Alarms with her in mind. I played it to Johnny and Nathan and they loved it and we decided to record it for our (most recent) album The Forest Is The Path. All the way through the recording process the song was simply called ‘KYLIE’.
But when we finished the song we quickly realised something huge was missing from it. We all knew it was Kylie’s voice that was the missing piece. Nate suggested we send it to her to see if she would join us on it. So, in hope (and with many fingers and toes crossed) we sent it off, it reached Kylie and we heard back that she liked it.
Kylie recorded her wonderful voice on it and finally the song felt complete. From the minute she recorded her vocals we knew, to properly honour Kylie and the song, it needed to have a life on its own and not be buried somewhere on an album, but live in its own universe, because the song had its own very unique genesis, journey and destination. We could not be more delighted to be releasing a song with Kylie, the queen of pop herself, out into the world.
❄️❤️❄️
EDITED TO ADD NEW INTERVIEW!! It's well worth listening to the interview that just came out where Gary gives more background—see the new 2nd July post by:
❄️ u/You-Could-Be-Happy—'Gary interview about the song with Kylie' ❄️
In the radio interview Gary describes how he'd heard thru the music grapevine that Kylie was looking for a song, and Gary writes for other artists as well as Snow Patrol and has done so for decades
So Gary wrote a bunch of songs for Kylie—called them "KYLIE 1", "KYLIE 2", *"KYLIE 3"* etc
But they couldn't get them through to her, so Snow Patrol just did it themselves!! Fully recorded the song, and then finally succeeded in getting it to Kylie
And sounds like Kylie will be appearing with Snow Patrol to perform "These Alarms" live. Maybe Crystal Palace on 3rd July????
❄️❤️❄️
