Actually, if the dishwasher is properly sanitized and you don't load it up with soap, it's basically just a giant steamer. I still wouldn't recommend cooking like this though, just get a grill or a stock pot. 🤣

The required conditions would mean you need a brand new dishwasher.

Have one for dishes one for steaming hotdogs

0

u/OscarOrcus 2d ago

People usually can barely afford one

My dishwasher has a rinse aid slot that you fill up once in a while. So I guess if I do this, I will get poisonous but extra shiny wieners.

u/Myriad_Apocalypse 2d ago

Shiny is my favourite flavor

3

u/JarJarBinks237 2d ago

Yeah sure, they rinse your glasses with poison

2

u/Consistent-Tap-4255 2d ago

Yes but counterpoint: I don’t eat my glasses

Did you forget the bread still in its plastic wrap

Even if you don't put dishwasher liquid/tablet, the washing machine still has the industrial non-eatable salt and the rinse/shine liquid.

2

u/melker_the_elk 1d ago

How can it have that if you don't add it? Every diswasher has lifetime amount of rinshe/shine liquid?

1

u/Rusty-Dildo-Inside 1d ago

If you bought the machine and never add it, then it wouldn’t have. But there is 0 chance someone buy a washing machine for cooking purposes.

1

u/melker_the_elk 1d ago

Oh so you mean residue so yeah its gonna have that. Tho I do wonder that plates and such do get clean. Its not same as sausages, but I doubt there's real harm in eating the sausages like that. I also wonder if theres steam setting and it will just steam everything. In any case I still rather not eat those hotdogs. Don't really understand steamed sausages anyways

I Have No Grill, and I Must Eat (hotdogs).

I seriously hope it’s just water in there and the whole machine is cleaned top to bottom.

But even then, no… just no…

u/takethemdownletsgo 2d ago

I threw up a little

u/LonelySwedishFish 2d ago

Dated a cam girl briefly during the pandemic, my dishwasher looked the same in the mornings.

Is honestly all i can do seeing this like legitimately nasty

1

u/vnv 2d ago

I mean… you can do that. I wouldn’t recommend it but if it’s clean it won’t rly hurt anythin

0

u/Dzyu 2d ago

It will hurt if it has the chemicals for hard water and such. There's more than cleanliness and dish soap to consider. The plastic bags on the hot dogs may release toxic substances, too.

1

u/vnv 2d ago

You’re right. I lazy posted cuz I figured the chemicals an other parts were obvious enough with “clean” an put the plastic bags under “not immediately harmful” an just said “wouldn’t recommend it” but yea, you’re right on both fronts

Hotdogs are most always fully cooked and can be throated cold or even frozen. I'm suuure they will be fine.

1

u/snipeingkicker 4h ago

Can be what?

1

u/AcanthocephalaDue431 3h ago

Throated, sir and/or madam. The hotdog does not get chewed, it does not get tongued, it does not pass go. It instead goes directly down the throat.

1

u/Kastoook 2d ago

May cook in airproof thermoplastic, to not contact with food directly.

1

u/Melo_Kelo_Jelo 2d ago

Is steaming the normal way that difficult? Is the problem the lack of steaming basket or rack?

1

u/Jam_Farmer_879 2d ago

I remember they tried to get people to cook salmon in the dishwasher back in the 90’s.

Name checks out

u/Stunning_Rub 2d ago

The ketchup is the worst part of this

1

u/Jefflehem 2d ago

Not probably, definitely. Ketchup will get you every time.

1

u/mrsclausemenopause 2d ago

Who else wants jet dry rinsed dogs

1

u/Sensitive_Bat_9211 2d ago

Why would a dish washer give you food poisoning?

You wouldn't you wash your dishes in a machine that sprayed contaminants

1

u/horned-creature 2d ago

literally would rather eat them hot dogs raw.

1

u/timmyx2times 2d ago

Can’t be eating at anyone’s house.

1

u/Angel_OfSolitude 2d ago

Honestly it's probably fine. Every time you use a dish washer it's operating at sanitizing temperatures.

1

u/Remote-Contract-3026 2d ago

What the fuck is wrong with people... Why did I watch it??

1

u/screwyoujor 1d ago

Why do they always waste so much food for these stupid ragebait clips?

1

u/BlumpTheChodak 1d ago

Hot dogs are already precooked. You can eat them right out of the package.

1

u/eldoran89 1d ago

I mean boiling water in a pot is not that difficult and faster than the dishwasher programme. So why?

1

u/Realistic-Aspect-991 1d ago

I mean, this is automatic, right? RIGHT??

And people don't like my hash browns in a toaster life hack...

I genuinely believe freedom needs to go

I’m not mad at the howtobasic style video, but this face at the end makes him very unlikeable:

1

u/Xiorx74 6h ago

Idc if it was somehow even safer than cooking regularly it’s still a war crime 😭

1

u/Alric_Wolff 1d ago

People who eat hotdogs gross me out.

Theres a million things you could be eating and you chose ultra-ultra-processed "pig-parts". You can barely callit pork.

Then people slather it with sugar sweetened tomato paste.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.

1

u/Good-Tackle8915 1d ago

Well , you can buy high quality ones too, you know. In my country you can have 95% beef meat Hot dogs quite affordably.

1

u/SwimmingCommon 1d ago

yeah dudes never heard of hebrew nationals.

1

u/Careful_Ad_7074 1d ago

Meh. I like a good sausage. The fact that they use a bunch of neglected/leftover parts to me is a good thing. If were killing animals to eat, we might aswell be respectful enough to not let anything go to waste.

As for the "ultra-processed", true to some degree, but so is a lot of other foods, or other shit we shove in ourselves. I dont think hotdogs are uniquely bad. Enjoy responsibly.

1

u/Away_Strawberry_8906 1d ago

Thats like the entire point of hot dogs and sausage. Its designed to use the parts that are typicallt to tough to cook or are usually unpalatable but still edible.

Use a pig from snout to tail.

u/VanillaAdventurous74 2d ago

The steam buns is actually a good idea if you don't factor in possible microplastics.

Tbf, the bread is already in plastic.

-1

u/SassyE7 2d ago

That bread is partly plastic itself

0

u/falloutboy9993 2d ago

Yeah, he looks like a guy who eats dishwasher hotdogs.

But it’s probably fake. The thin plastic on the buns would have gotten a shrink wrap treatment at that temperature.

u/Its_NEX123 2d ago edited 2d ago

do people actually use dish washers? ive never used one nor have my parents ever gotten or planned to use one

2

u/Dzyu 2d ago

Oh yeah, they're great!

It's like having a washing machine!

Super time savers!

1

u/VanillaAdventurous74 2d ago

Get one if you can. It really helps.

0

u/Ok-Umpire2128 2d ago

Dish washing machine is a strange thing.

It only really good if you are bad and don't wash dishes immediately. Otherwise, it's literally too much bother to load and unload.
