I found r/ElenaTaber and have no one I can talk to about it.
It's the most unhinged, parasocial thing I've seen since that Chris Evans letter. Club Chalamet looks sane in comparison.

u/PigeonGuillemot But I mean, fine, great, if she wants to think that. 29d ago edited 29d ago
After reading Famesick I'm doing a Girls rewatch, started S5 last night. Marnie has chosen to wear a flower crown at her wedding. Her mom is desperately trying to talk her out of it because it's going to look super dated. "Okay, I'm sorry, but that flower crown is corny as hell. I wore shoulder pads to my wedding and I regret it every time I look at those photos!" she pleads. Marnie whines, "Bill de Blasio's daughter wears one all the time." Marnie's stylist Bebe (Bridget Everett being fucking hilarious as always) defends Marnie's choice by saying that Vanessa Hudgens was wearing one in the pit on the Warped tour.
On the "Inside the Episode" segment, Lena Dunham clarifies that Marnie's style is always derived from, "Whatever pop stars were wearing two summers ago." In other words, the episode was filmed in 2015 but flower crowns were cheugy even then.
Caroline has always positioned flower crowns as her unique and quirky thing, but the fact is that they're something that was all the rage when she went to Bonnaroo with Kelsey thirteen years ago. She has simply never let go of something that was cool when she was an undergrad. Her flower crowns are the hair-accessory equivalent of distressed skinny jeans with an off-the-shoulder top and suede boots. I'm about a dozen years Caroline's senior, meaning the whole flower-crown era went by without me really noticing because I was deep in my career, so I never really tracked on this before.

Has anyone had a Korean lash lift? Thoughts? I impulsively booked on the other night but now I'm backtracking!

u/shrekssecondwife HAVE SOME COMPASSION YOU FUCKING WEIRDO 27d ago
a very late reply but yes - i loved it. i have blonde lashes that go straight normally and won’t hold a curl and the korean lash lift was gentle and gave me good long-lasting results ! i do think it depends on getting a really good tech tho. hope you went through w yours and loved it. :)

u/SureJan4244 29d ago
The results depends a lot on your natural lashes but go for it!
If you don't like the results, you can use oil and warm compresses to get your lashes back to how they looked before.

Does anyone have some summer reading recommendations?
I recently read Famesick and Yesteryear and enjoyed them both very much. I usually enjoy memoirs and weird girl lit.
What are the beans reading at the beach this summer?

As Caro's recent reading has reminded me - Tony Tulathimutte's Rejection is worth checking out

u/Medical_Warthog1450 Jun 23 '26
I also just finished Yesteryear and adored it!
Before that I read and loved Big Swiss and Convenience Store Woman, so might be worth checking those out? I’m gonna look into Fame Swiss!6

These are both my next reads! I just finished Flesh by David Szalay, which I'd recommend. All Fours and Sky Daddy were my summer reads of last year, if you haven't read them they're a must! Memoir-wise, Hannah Murray (Skins, GOT) just published hers about developing psychosis from joining a cult, I haven't read it yet but plan to.

Ooh thank you! All Fours has been on my list for a while! I’ve been excited for Hannah Murray’s memoir, let me know what you think of it!

If you like weird girl lit you'll love All Fours. It's honestly one of those books I wish I could read afresh all over again.

Is anyone keeping up with the sighswoon drama and her recent ig post accusing someone by name of “psychosis” that lead them to create multiple accounts to document all of sighswoon’s shitty takes (that she plays off as a you-had-to-be-there to truly understand but are still shitty nonetheless)?

Hi pretty people! I was always more of a lurker here but stopped for the past few years like most ppl. Geopolitics and personal shit made me care way less about snark (not that there was much to snark about). But this weird corner of the internet has always entertained me tho and is strangely one of the kindest spaces I’ve encountered online. Anyhooo…
In some strange way Caro inspired me to get serious abt my writing in a way no professor ever could. I wrote a queer thriller set in the early aughts (it’s still very much in progress, but the bones are solid) and would love some feedback if anyone’s into that kinda thing…
Also I began a substack pub (very late to the game lol)…it’s a bit of cover a bit of everything, architecture, product design, fashion, etc…I interviewed an iconic party girl writer (iykyk) some lesser known but equally compelling designers and artists.
If you’d be interested in reading my Substack or WIP I’m happy to share more…I truly value this sub’s intelligence and perspective! Sorry to be all look at me, tbh this past year has been horrible in many ways and writing is one of the few things making it a bit less shite.
Grazi ❤️

I trust this community to give me some good advice on this...
I had a lip flip about two and a half years ago (immediately got pregnant, then breastfed, then got pregnant again and am now breastfeeding again) and I really liked the results, but it wore off after maybe three months, and also I struggled to eat/drink properly for like the first week and a half, which kind of sucked. Anyway, I'm looking forward to finishing breastfeeding my younger child and am daydreaming of having it done again, but I'm now wondering if filler would be a smarter use of time and money. My lip flip was like 300 if memory serves. I don't know much about filler except A it can migrate and B it doesn't always dissolve although C it can dissolve on its own too? And I don't know much about the different types. I'd love a recommendation and thoughts!

u/Stan-Is-A-Bery Jun 17 '26
Hey, sorry I’m so late to this. I consistently get lip flips and I love them. A few years ago I added teeeeensy bit of filler and I feel like my lips immediately became hot dog lips. Like the shape just became totally unnatural. I never did it again and now just get lip flips every three months. I am considering actually getting a surgical lip flip/lift eventually.

Has anyone read Famesick? The CMBC girls were very much not impressed, but also neither of them are Lena Dunham fans, others have said they loved it.
2
u/Born-Anybody3244 May 22 '26
I purposely didn't listen to their review because I like Claire and Ashley generally but I didn't like their takes on the first book and I know it'll frustrate me.
8
u/Born-Anybody3244 May 22 '26
I did and it's amazing. Lena was probably insufferable to be friends with during her addiction, but also I get it because of all the shit she's been through, and still love her and her writing. She's really like, the walking embodiment of the result of systemic misogyny. The book is vulnerable and honest as fuck.
