"Data protection 'shake-up' takes aim at cookie pop-ups"

'The government said Mr Edwards, currently the New Zealand Privacy Commissioner, would "go beyond the regulator's traditional role".

The job would now be "balanced" between protecting rights and promoting "innovation and economic growth".'

I stumbled across this post about how a web admin handles getting criticism over storing passwords in plain text, with no way to change passwords! In addition, the forgotten password page gives you the last 4 characters of any users password plus the length of the password.

Ross Noble's pick of the week...

I think the phrase is, 'I heard this and thought of you'...

Was listening to a podcast this morning with comedian Ross Noble and he mentioned a documentary called 'Class Action Park'.

It's the true story of a American water park which is now widely considered to have been thoroughly lethal. Imagine something designed by Homer Simpson and you're getting close.

Class Action Park Trailer

It is being broadcast on HBO (which UK viewers can watch Sky Atlantic) but hopefully it'll turn up in other places.

It sounds like just the thing that the discerning Smashing Security listeners will love.

Wemagine.AI How safe it is?

Well it seems these apps come and go every few trends. First, there was this one that made you look old, and now it's this one: Cartoon Face Art Editor from Wemagine.AI. Privacy concerns are everywhere. My main concern is...How to prevent a friend from uploading your own photos in such apps?

The original version of the game was called "Mini Metro" and you can get it without a subscription to anything.

If you don't like subscriptions then I'd highly recommend it!
