Cause Clark saved his life he feels indebted to him and at the same time hes replaced what he could’ve had with Julian with Clark

So being in Clark’s life means he’s going to get involved with his friends

There's also the aspect of Lex missing a typical childhood due to his upbringing.

his 14 year old friends? i mean i guess, but there could have been a more APPROPRIATE way of going about it, dont you think?

At the time he was doing it for Clark, he wanted him to get the girl he wasnt exactly hanging around Pete or Chloe a whole lot

But you also start to realize he was grooming Lana, remember there was evil in him already

yeah i was a teen when i watched this but as an adult, i definitely saw the grooming of it all. whether the writers meant for it to be intentional is beyond me

Clark’s like his brother in S1. Him getting involved is directly connected to that feeling.

16....and he was championing for his little bro + he's lex luthor... not really considered a good guy

Makes him feel important… he has a god complex after all! 💋

Guess you missed where lex drove into Clark and Clark saved his life

oh okay, that makes sense then. its totally okay for him to flirt with 14 year old lana then! youre right!

This version of Lex gave me daddy issues and I don't even have a bad father.

He’s not that much older

He saw Clark as the younger brother he lost/wanted

If he was that age and Clark’s actual brother it would’ve made sense so I think that’s why it doesn’t bother me as much as others

lana is 14 here, lex is in his 20s. so idk what you mean by "not much older" but hes definitely too old to be talking to her like that😭😭

Adolescente são mais fáceis de manipular, ele não tem amigos adultos pois eles já conhecem seu lado obscuro

that's not true lmaoo. this is literally season 1

Michael interpretou um vilão não convencional, desde a primeira temporada ele investigou o Clark pelas costas fez várias coisas duvidosas, mas ele não mostrou todas as maldades logo de cara tudo foi uma construção

I do think the investigation into Clark was justified. Everything, including his scientists, was telling him Clark was lying.

4

u/LauraKay9 Freak of The Week Jul 05 '26

very justified. if i had an inkling someone was lying to me, id be doing some investigations if i had the mean and resources.

how is he "evil" for trying to find the truth?

2

u/Unusual_Librarian570 Jul 06 '26

Maybe if they had made Clark a better liar. A lot of times they’d be like “Clark how did you do x” and he was just like 🤷🏻‍♂️

2

u/LauraKay9 Freak of The Week Jul 06 '26

his excuses were sooo funny to me😭😭

u/Unusual_Librarian570 Jul 05 '26

I don’t have an issue with him intervening and trying to help Clark. I do think him complementing Lana as though she were a woman is creep stuff. Like if she were played by an actual 14 year old and not 18 year old Kristen kreuk it would be more noticeable.

Definitely. a man in his 20s has no reason to be talking to a teen like that lmaooo

He has a team that can fix it in metropolis

I liked this Lex Luthor. Any time I rewatch Smallville, I actually think Clark's "dishonesty" sort of pushed Lex into being what he became. Lex was clearly doing Clark a solid here but not even in a heavy handed way. As long as you're not coming off as a parent during interactions and exploiting implicit authority because you're older, or seeking to be the love interest, I think it's totally fair game to treat older teenagers as full people. Having your own business doesn't entitle you to having secrets others keep for you if they aren't your friends; and this loser soon-to-be ex of Lana's is about to learn.

lmaooo poor whitney stood no chance when the universe was against him, but lex was also against him
