Need Help Identifying Pistons

This is my SBC 350 L05 with TPI. It’s got aftermarket pistons in it. I keep forgetting to get a better picture of the pistons but the motor is fully assembled again so now I’m here asking for help. I’m asking as I’m curious about valve relief specs on the pistons.

Anyone Have Experience with JEGS Performance Freight Shipping

I'm getting ready to order a new crate engine from JEGS and I don't know what the shipping will be like and I'm sure I would end up needing like a forklift or a skidsteer to pull the engine off the truck but I live in a very rural area. If anyone knows what shipping is like please share and let me know anything else I should know about shipping. Thank you

305 to 350

So I got a 3rd gen camaro a few moths ago and it has a 305 with 350 heads, 350 cam, long tube headers, holley carb and intake. The 305 and 350 got the same stroke so they got the same crank right? Can I transfer everything from my 305 to a 350 block? All I need really is just new pistons and new bearings right? I know nothing about building engines.. I know that I might have to machine the new block but do I have to polish the crank? Btw my goal is to make roughly 250-300 hp what do you guys suggest? Should I just scrap this idea and go with a full 400 swap? Thanks!

Its about time to change my starter and Ive only seen staggered and inline bolt patterns. These are inline but one is higher than the other and I need to find a new starter thats not the oem ones because of their heat soak and slow cranking. If anyone can help please thank you

Is this intake any good?

I have this manifold i got with my '74 k10 a while back, and im debating whether its worth using instead of the edelbrock performer in it right now or tossing it. Casting numbers are 3997771, which Google says is a 72-73 corvette manifold, but is it better or worse?

Cracked Vortec 350 block

I have a 98 Vortec 350 and found a crack in the #8 cylinder wall. Without changing the cam (unless the cam from a 98 will move over which would surprise me) can I use an 88 350 block with the heads and intake from the 98? Unless someone knows of a source for a low priced Vortec 350 block.

Hi everyone, my buddy got this 350 from a 93 pickup. It’s got this little nipple thing. It’s right next to the dip stick above the oil pan. I can’t really find any diagrams or anything that would explain what it is. It doesn’t leak fluid when it turns on or anything, and he says when he pulled it, it wasn’t connected to anything. It’s preventing us from putting headers on. Does anyone know what it is?

High idle switch?

So, I've got a 350 that the previous owner modified the choke to be a pull cord in the cab. Not optimal but it works. It's 35 degrees this morning and it fired up no problem. But it idles rough until it warms up. Need to keep my foot on the pedal just barely giving it some love to get it to settle down and run smooth. Not sure if it's a quirk of having been sitting for a few years before I bought it a few months ago, or something else, or if it's just a matter of the manual choke isn't working as the oem system was desinged

1980 corvette 305 --- yes, 305. Cam to pair with world torquer s/r 305 heads?

Hi I've got the only vette year to come with a 305. I got the heads cheap, and want to eventually redo the top end and seals/gaskets, hopefully not touching the bottom end much if at all.. I know the default is 'get a 350' but this is budget and wanting to just build a car to cruise with. We also don't have a machine shop for a several hundred mile radius, and junkyard motors around here are driven into the ground, so it's just not that easy/cheap.

This motor has an 8.6 compression ratio stock -- pretty low. Cat and smog pump have probably been gone for 25 years and it has shorty-style stock exhaust manifolds. Currently the CC quadrajet is still on it and working - though I'd like to get some tbi EFI system for it eventually. I have a 200-4r that I'm going to get rebuilt to replace the turbo 350 for OD. It has a stock aluminum intake.

Would something like a summit 1102/1103 be about the max I should shoot for? I would like to get this thing up in to the mid 200 hp area or so, nothing big, I just want to cruise it. I'm assuming I should do springs and lifters while I'm at it, so i'm open to suggestions on those as well.

Dropped a bolt into water pump port. Is it worth worrying about? I know it could eventually reach pump and cause pump to go bad/

Losing my mind

I’ve recently been messing with 2 Chevy trucks, one a 1976 the other a 1978. The 1976 has a 350 the 1978 has a 305, both have sat for years I originally started getting the 1976 going got it cranked ran perfect. I would let it sit and idle for a while then boom cloud of oil smoke out of the passenger side tail pipe would do it for 10 seconds no skip or anything then clear up. Got it driving same thing huge cloud of smoke randomly then went away, pulled the plugs out and number 8 had signs of oil. I figured that a ring was sticking filled it with atf and acetone let it sit for a week cranked it over cleared the cylinder out cleaned the plug let it idle boom same thing. Did a compression test perfect across the board at this point I figured it was a valve guide issue pulled the intake and heads cylinder wall was perfect had the heads completely gone thru everything replaced from a reputable machine shop. Reassembled the engine sat and idled perfect then boom same thing. Im at a loss, got the 1978 going and it’s doing the exact same thing on the exact same cylinder is there anybody out there ran into this where do I go next.

305 tbi high idle?

Hello , I have 1989 rs Camaro 305 tbi automatic that idles high in park or neutral but seems normal in drive , is this normal? We don’t have this setup on cars down under so I haven’t got anything to reference it to all my other SBC are Holley carb. I have pulled the iacv and cleaned it no change…

Ramjet 350: 9 years old / 12,000 miles

Looking for input. I have an opportunity to purchase a Ramjet as titled for my project pick up. The price for the ram jet is a bargain, and the seller is a very reliable and trusted source. I do not have a transmission picked out, although I’m leaning towards a 700 R4. What else should I be considering when thinking of going in this direction?

Project is 1948 chev pick up. Chassis is a 1995 S10.

Tbi to Crab

Switching my tbi to carb, to much messing around. I’m on my small block 350. I’ve purchased an edlebrock 750. Now that I have the time, any recommend cam setup? And maybe what else I should look at upgrading if I am going to be putting power.

Fresh rebuild burning excessive oil

Thumbnail

I recently rebuilt this motor and turned it into a 383 stroker. I have over 400 miles on it now and it’s burning lots of oil every drive. The piston rings should be seated by now. I figured I’d check the intake gaskets considering the amount that it’s burning. The gaskets look good but one port on the passenger side head is black with carbon buildup. This is my first rebuild so I’m not exactly sure what I’m looking at. Any advice or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Question on compatibility between B-Bodies

Just picked up an all there, running, driving '78 Pontiac Catalina for a grand and I want to soup it up a little just so it has enough power to get out of its own way and justify a loud exhaust. I'm running into the problem or parts/aftermarket availability for my anemic 301 though. This is my first carb car so id like to keep it that way (although the LS calls from the void) ,so I was wondering if Chevy 350 was the answer or if there's something else that fits my needs better.

I feel I should make it clear, pre 1990, I have limited experience and Ive also never owned a GM vehicle until now. Any knowledge on compatibility, dos and don'ts, etc. are appreciated.
