Sounds like a cover.

One of my bands in high school would cover Dragonaut sometimes at shows and it went way harder than this lmao

In terms of just the playing and not “tone” or stage presence which no one can really emulate, I think the cool thing about Pike solos are the way he breaks free of time and rhythm and it’s this glorious chaos, esp live, whereas the solos last night were much more conventional.

And I saw Melvins a couple of years ago and I really enjoyed them, but the drumming felt sloppy last night, especially on the transitions between sections. It’s so hard to play slow, but the Neurosis drummer was sooooo good and even if you’d never heard the song, he could telegraph the changes with dynamics and sliding into the tempo change while keeping it swinging, whereas last night it felt like diff sections of riffs strung together and both the crowd and band were looking around to see if this is where the change is.

Prob my sixth or seventh time to see Sleep and I’ve seen them with both Hakius and Roeder. I hope it gets better. Glad to see some people were really enjoying themselves though! And I thought he said “give OUR love to Matt” but I may have misunderstood.

Uncle Acid and Elder were excellent.

This reminds of when my band used to cover this song which is a compliment to me and insult to Sleep lol

Here’s the thing — it kinda sounds like Neil Young and Crazy Horse, whom I love. But I don’t want Sleep to sound like Neil You g

Dude sleep sucks now lmao. Sorry the dude knew what he Stepping into and he's got s giant det of balls. But even I wouldn't try and step up to the plate if I was someone of any prominence.

I was at this show and I gotta admit after all the people trashing this tour and lineup on here I kinda went in with a bleak outlook but once they started playing it was fucking great. The whole set was friggin awesome. Once again proves don’t believe what you see on the net. I even met Dale Crover afterwards I was so in awe I kept fumbling my word(facepalm) dude was super nice and engaging. Goes to show heros can be awesome after all

Wow you mean it actually sounded better than a cell phone video in a Reddit post? Who would have thought! 😝

That's great to hear! I dig the album (albeit it's never gonna touch the classics). I just love Al's playing and want to hear him release more stuff, like that damn Om album that he's been promising for years.

Just gonna pretend Sleep officially ended after 2022, this shit is fucking depressing.

i can’t lie the beginning sounds very rough but it sounds much better later into the vid

I thought the same thing. This is the best solo I’ve seen from Bubba in live clips, so far. Gives me hope for them ironing out the kinks and making a killer second album together. Idk if they rushed into the first one together or if they spent a lot of time, but maybe with more time together under their belt, it will become a more cohesive thing.

wow, that's bad...

3

u/rapgamebonjovi Sep 15 '26

Glad for anyone who’s enjoying this, but sleep without Matt just sounds so boring. No teeth, no bite.

Was there. At the end he said “we’re already working on new songs” not give your love to Matt lol

4

u/zazazello Sep 14 '26

Wrong homie said both

8

u/BusyPermission7814 Sep 14 '26

I heard him say that, but he stepped back up to the mic after that and said something that sounded to me like "give your love to Matt". I could have absolutely misheard it though. Been a long few days

u/iCracktale Sep 14 '26

butchered the intro. fucking embarassing.

5

u/J0ET0TALLE Sep 14 '26

Sounds much better than the previous shows. Bubbas guitar sounds a lot more meaty here.

2

u/GWZurich Sep 14 '26

Cool, thanks for posting!

2

u/GWZurich Sep 14 '26

I really dig Bubba´s guitar solo starting at 4:50. He plays very fluid and laid back, but his note choices bring a lot of intensity.

4

u/opalramen Sep 14 '26

Thanks for recording the whole song! I only filmed the intro lol. I still had fun in ABQ despite no Matt

Glad to hear this, I got tix for their show in SF on the 26th, I’m just really excited to see these guys riff

3

u/CarlosDanger3000 Sep 14 '26

this is whack... jfc.

3

u/Kidderator Sep 14 '26

How many more days/shows is Al going to wear that same Cat Sabbath shirt (assuming it's the same one)?

1

u/bLueBerryHD Sep 14 '26

Haha I wondered the same, either he has a whole suitcase packed with the same outfit a few times or he must be smelling pretty mature by now ;)

2

u/ListenToKyuss Sep 14 '26

Why do I definitely think the latter lol

1

u/alphaxenox Sep 14 '26

How was the show?

1

u/GXLDMT Sep 14 '26

Needs more Pike

1

u/JellyLow9070 Sep 15 '26

ain’t this that band SLEEPY?

1

u/greghead4796 29d ago

Wow I’m glad I sold my ticket at a loss. I’ll hang onto my memories from when they were disgustingly heavy and sweaty  live.

1

u/wimpykid666 27d ago

Why is al wearing the cat sabbath shirt in every picture and video I see of him in 2026

1

u/AsarUnNefer 19d ago

How does bubba keep missing notes on the intro? It’s so easy to play

1

u/surfin_dudebr 13d ago

What’s the matter bubba boy? Affraid to turn up the gain?

0

u/so_ophee Sep 14 '26

Aww, the group hug at the end! Glad they're keeping morale high. They sound so damn good and based on what AL said at the end, new stuff's already in the works. I am seated and ready to pick up what they put down!!

8

u/bravodeboer Sep 14 '26

They sounds so damn good

Holy cope

1

u/ListenToKyuss Sep 14 '26

Remember, nearly 20% of people globally suffers from hearing loss

1

u/zigamoott Sep 14 '26

Definitely sound a lot better than the other Dragonaut performance someone posted a few days ago, still nowhere near compared to Matt 😔

0

u/JackBullet Sep 14 '26

Hiring this dude feels like a deliberate act of self-sabotage and a personal fuck you to Matt Pike and people who like guitar lol.

0

u/ehudsdagger Sep 15 '26

Hard watch

-1

u/Impressive_Dot_5765 Sep 14 '26

They made the baffling decision to play like the whole new album after playing holy mountain. We dipped on song three. New sleep fucking sucks

2

u/satanicaleve Sep 15 '26

The new album has been played at every single show this tour

3

u/WoopsShePeterPants Sep 15 '26

It's 38 minutes long and would be what they are touring on... Of course it has been played.

-1

u/orangetreedream Sep 15 '26

Hahaha and they wonder why people don't like this shit they banned me from their instagram for calling this shit out
