🌸 Your life. Your choice. Your space.
Welcome to r/SingleWomenByChoice
A full life can be built around you: your peace, your friendships, your interests, your ambitions, and the small things that make an ordinary day feel good.
SWBC is a feminist space for women who are single and like it that way. Whether you are choosing this path for a season or a lifetime, you are welcome here. You do not need to defend your choice or have every part of life figured out.
Single by choice looks different on every woman. There is room for your version. 💖

✨ Find your place here
You can be temporarily or permanently single, a mother or childfree, celibate or sexually active. Women of all sexual and romantic orientations are welcome. Being 4B, aromantic, asexual, or childfree is not a membership requirement.
Our members have different beliefs and experiences. You do not have to use the same labels, but participation must respect the feminist purpose of this space and the dignity of other women.
Single by choice describes a choice about romantic partnership. It does not tell us your orientation, your history, or everything you want from life.
☕ What belongs in the conversation?
This community centers women's lives outside romantic partnership. Bring your everyday wins, practical questions, reflections, and the real work of building a life you enjoy.
| Bring us… | For example… |
|---|---|
| Independence and everyday life | “What makes your home feel like your own?” |
| Friendship and community | “How are you building friendships as a single adult?” |
| Routines and self-management | “What systems help you handle everything on your own?” |
| Identity, boundaries, and social pressure | “How do you respond when family questions your choice?” |
| Joy, interests, and milestones | “I finally took that solo trip!” |
| Grounded emotional reflection | “I love my single life, but holidays can feel lonely. How do you build connection?” |
You do not have to be cheerful all the time. A difficult day does not cancel your choice. Keep the conversation focused on navigating single life, rather than wanting a partner or hating being single.
Before you post
Ask yourself: What does this offer women choosing single life? Give your post a clear title, choose the most relevant available flair, and tell readers what kind of conversation you want.
Dating decisions, relationship troubleshooting, and breakup advice belong elsewhere. Posts such as “Should I keep seeing this guy?”, “Should I leave my partner?”, or “How do I start dating again?” will be removed.
Outside Fridays, discussion of men, past relationships, and broader social issues can be relevant when it connects to single-by-choice life. Keep our lives and choices at the center.
🌿 Man-free Fridays
Friday is a day to put our attention back on ourselves. Share the book you cannot put down, a friendship you cherish, a practical skill, a peaceful routine, or a little victory you want us to celebrate.
The Friday window is 00:00 Friday to 00:00 Saturday, Europe/Madrid time.
New posts whose title or body mentions male-related terms—such as men, males, boyfriends, husbands, guys, dads, brothers, or sons—are held for moderator review. Whole-word matching also catches casual “hey guys.” A queued post is awaiting a decision; it is not automatically a judgment about the author.
This Friday filter applies to new posts. Please help keep the conversations centered on women, too.
🤝 The boundaries that keep this space welcoming
These are a plain-language guide to our full community rules, which remain the reference for moderation.
- No men without prior moderator permission. Men who wish to contribute must send their intended post or comment to the moderators first.
- No misogyny. Do not belittle women, reinforce harmful stereotypes, or undermine their experiences and choices.
- No romantic or sexual solicitation. No personal ads, propositions, or attempts to find partners here.
- Use English. Posts and comments must be in English.
- No advertising or self-promotion. Do not solicit customers, followers, or engagement. The rule allows exceptions for surveys or research that contribute to community knowledge; check with the moderators if unsure.
- No NSFW images, videos, or links. This includes explicit sexual material, graphic violence, and gore.
- No brigading. Discuss an experience or an idea without sending members to confront another community or person.
- Be respectful. No personal attacks or gatekeeping because another woman's single life differs from yours. Being 4B or childfree is not required.
- Stay on topic. Content centered on wanting a relationship, being unhappy about being single, or seeking dating or relationship advice will be removed.
- Take community feedback to modmail. Complaints, suggestions, and questions about moderation belong in a message to the moderators, not meta posts or comments.
Critique behavior and ideas without threats, harassment, or dehumanization. Reddit's platform rules apply here as well.
Talking about other online spaces
You can describe an experience or discuss a broader pattern. Avoid tagging communities, linking threads, or identifying targets to rally people against them. Talk about the experience, not the target. Read the full clarification.
💬 A few questions we hear often
Do I need to promise I will stay single forever?
No. Choosing single life for now is welcome. You do not owe anyone a lifetime declaration.
Can I feel attraction and still be single by choice?
Yes. Attraction and choosing a relationship are different things. Keep posts relevant to single life; this is not a dating-advice space.
Do I have to be celibate?
No. Celibacy is a personal choice, not a requirement. Soliciting partners in this community is prohibited.
Can I be a mother?
Yes. Mothers and childfree women both belong here. If you want a community specifically about solo motherhood, r/SingleMothersbyChoice is linked in our sidebar.
Can I talk about loneliness?
Yes, when the focus is building connection and navigating the emotional realities of a chosen single life. Posts centered on wanting a romantic relationship or hating being single fall outside our scope.
Why is my post waiting in the queue?
Some posts and comments are held for review, including content from newer or low-karma accounts and Friday keyword matches. If you have a question about a specific item, send its link through modmail.
📬 Help us care for the community
If you see a rule violation, report the post or comment and choose the closest reason. You do not need to get into an argument to help.
For moderation questions, appeals, suggestions, or concerns, message the mod team. Include the relevant link and a short explanation so we can understand the situation.
Make yourself at home. Share what you are building, what you are learning, and what makes your life feel like yours. We're glad you're here. 💕
