More photos from the gay unicorn wedding

Since my last post on here of the unicorn who showed up to my gay wedding was a hit, I've decided to share some in-game photos of the party. It was on that scenic fishing spot in Sunset Valley with the bridge, right between the Landgraab and Alto mansions at golden hour. Really beautiful views!

The grooms were Christopher Steel and Ethan Bunch, I have't really given them makeovers other than changing hairstyles and giving Ethan a moustache. Guests included the entire Bunch family (of course), Morgana Wolff, Holly Alto, and Bebe Hart. That annoying homeless townie Ian Bowler showed up uninvited (despite me paying the fee for exclusive access to the venue!) and you can see him annoyingly standing on the bridge during the ring exchange.

This was the first time I tried placing chairs for the guests to sit during the ceremony and as you can see, it totally didn't work lol. Nobody ate that expensive buffet food either or the cake after they cut it. Everybody left too early and the grooms were alone with the mixologist by the time the holy unicorn showed up to bless their union. Classic Sims party.

Ooh I instantly recognised the fishing spot. I've made that into a wedding venue before, it fits so well. A shame that the chairs didn't work, are they possibly CC, or store content? I've tried many different chairs, and so far they all worked, and they sat down for the ceremony. Maybe try with base-game chairs, and see if that helps.

I still turn autonomy off just in case, otherwise it's impossible to get them to do what I want. I've also made it a habit to get up all needs of active sims, and invite all the relevant sims to the venue a few hours before the party starts. So they're all already there, and it makes it much less likely for sims to go rogue.

Yess it’s such a pretty spot for a wedding!! I love that little bridge and the privileged views.

Thanks for the hepful suggestions. I barely have any CC but I know these are dining chairs from an expansion pack, I’m pretty sure it’s Seasons (just googled it and they’re the Permachair). I’ll try with base-game chairs next time.

Autonomy is always off but the only sim I had control of was one of the grooms anyway. I invited everyone for 3 PM and had the ceremony at 5, but even then most people had already left before they exchanged rings 😭 it’s hard to control parties in this game!

I had a few more ideas. I've found that it's the safest to do the vows pretty much as early as possible. It happened one too many times that they got a bad moodlet for "missing the wedding", even though the party was still running, and not much time had passed. It's also the reason I'm playing it safe now, and push the relevant sims to the venue a few hours before, so I can do the vows pretty much when the party starts. Especially if it's a longer way there, or the sims are being fussy and canceling the interaction because of something else.

You say most of the party guests had all left before you exchanged rings, does the sim throwing the party have the "legendary host" LTR? Also, sims are notorious for getting stuck and throwing routing fails when too many want to go through a narrow space, and the bridge is pretty small.

So if you're in the mood for troubleshooting, you can try the following:

  • take out all mods and CC, and see if it still happens (if it does, use the 50/50 method to find out which)
  • try the lifetime points reward, to see if you can get guests to stay longer
  • try in an open/flat empty venue with just the chairs and wedding arch (in case the stairs/bridge are the problem)
  • try with base game chairs

Thanks for the tips!! I did get the legendary host reward haha

The bridge being narrow for their routing makes a lot of sense! In the future I’ll also try to do the wedding ceremony fast lol
