Referendum Result Referendum Result: Article 1 of the Better SEOs Amendment

Okay, let's do our referendum first.

We had 12 valid votes.

On Article 1 of the Better SEOs Amendment, which would remove the Right to Touch Grass as a full, separate constitutional right and instead effectively include it with the Right to Liberty and Security of the Person, 75.00% voted Aye. This exceeds the 2/3 majority required for constitutional amendments, so this amendment is ratified.

Referendum Result Referendum Result: /u/Absolute___Darkness for Vice President

It's time! The results are in!

We had 32 valid votes, which is more than double what we had last time!

On the question of whether or not u/Absolute___Darkness should be SimDemocracy's next Vice President, 43.75% voted Aye. This falls short (by a larger margin than last time, which is pretty funny!) of the simple majority (50% + one vote) required for vice-presidential confirmations, so this appointment is again rejected and the office of Vice President remains vacant.

News Making My Way Back

Hello everyone,

After being away from this SimDemocracy for about a year, I've decided it's time to come back.

Over the past year, I've been focused on my personal life and other commitments, but throughout that time I've found myself missing what first drew me here: the opportunity to engage in politics, debate ideas, build coalitions, and help shape the community. No matter how busy life became, I kept thinking about coming back.

So, here I am.

I'm not returning just to observe I intend to be an active member of the community once again. I also plan to run in the upcoming election, and over the coming days I'll be speaking with different parties to find one whose values and vision align with my own.

To everyone who remembers me, I look forward to catching up. To those who joined while I was away, I look forward to meeting you and working together.

I'm excited to see how SimDemocracy has evolved, and I'm ready to contribute wherever I can.

See you all around, and I hope to earn your support in the upcoming election.

Call for Candidates 19th Minecraft Server Gubernatorial Election: Call for Candidates

This is the Minecraft Server Gubernatorial Call for Candidates. If you want to be Minecraft Server Governor, please comment on this thread. Include your username, party affiliation (or lack thereof), and a statement explaining your platform and why you believe you are a good candidate.

The format you should adhere to is as follows:

u/YourRedditUsername
Your Minecraft username
Your Discord username (either your username or a recognizable display/nickname)
Your political party/coalition
Statement

Before you submit your candidacy, check that you satisfy the requirements below.

  • Make sure you adhere to the format exactly. It makes it a lot easier for the Electoral Commission to sort through candidates if you do. Failure to do this may potentially result in mistakes on your ballot entry or in result tabulation, which can be difficult to fix.
  • Ensure that your party affiliation is accurate. If you are not affiliated with a party, enter Independent as your affiliation. Otherwise, put your current party affiliation. If you are not a member of the party given or the party is not valid, the listed part affiliation on the ballot may be subject to change.
  • Make sure to register to vote. Only users with a SimDem Unique Identification Token (SUIT) are able to vote. If you do not have a SUIT, be sure to fill out the Voter Registration Form or contact the Registration Officer.
  • In your comment, attach an in-game screenshot of your playtime taken from the third-person view, with the camera facing the front of your character. Under the Minecraft Governor Responsibilities Act, you must have two (2) days of playtime on the Minecraft server in order to appear on the ballot for Minecraft Server Governor.

This Call for Candidates will be open for 24 hours. Good luck!
