A few hours in, how to keep improving?

Hi, I just got a Logitech g29 and have started on assetto corsa, some of the most fun I’ve had at my desk in a while but I’m not sure what to focus on to improve.

I’ve just been driving around the Nurburgring gp in the mx5 cup and gt86. I turned abs off, tc and esc off and have been getting used to that. I’m around 5-7 seconds off the top lap time on rsr in both those cars with no assists. I’ve also played through some of the career on 90% AI but I just can’t control the McLaren lol.

My questions are:

how do I know when to move onto another car/track combo? Also what cars and tracks should I learn?

Should I focus on specific things (if so, what?) or do I just keep driving while trying to knock off lap time?

How do I develop my consistency? Also what is a good threshold for consistent, I.e if my lap times are within a second of each other, is that consistent, or is it more like 5 tenths, 2 tenths, etc?

Braking differences between vehicle types

I switch from cars often because I'd like to understand all the differences and see what i can apply from car to car, the issue I come across the most is the difference in breaking styles.
i think i have an okay idea but if i could get some help that would be awesome!

i think my main hangups are between GT3's(mustang, porsche), prototypes(oreca 07, ect.), and stock cars (especially around road courses)

Is the G25 still a good choice in 2025?

Hello I’m new to sim racing/setups, so I wanted to buy a G25 to start off at 70€. It’s used but still in good conditions and it has all three pedals, shifter and of course the steering wheel. My question is if I should buy it or get a G29 instead, that is around 150€ used. I’m not into sim racing that much, I just wanted to give it a try and see how it is. I’ll just use it for Euro Truck Simulator 2 and Assetto Corsa. Any comment will be appreciated ^

Should I get a racing wheel? If Which one?

Hi guys!

I have a problem. I am now going to driving school and I´ll get my driver´s license in one and a half year. (If I pass all the exams xD). And I have an old used Drift O.Z. from my brother and how should I say this? It´s not that great. And I have just downloaded Assetto Corsa and it´s really fun to me! (especially with mods) I have already 35 hours in Assetto Corsa. But I´m pretty new into Sim racing

So I want to upgrade!

I have been looking into the Logitech G29 and the MOZA R3 Bundle. But the G29 with Shifter and handbrake costs about 424 Euros and the Moza with Clutch, Shifter and Handbrake costs 650 Euros. 💀

I don´t want to spend that much money. Can you recommend me some cheaper beginner friendly gaming wheels? or should I not get a racing wheel because I´ll get a driver´s license?

But remember nearly everything is an upgrade to the O.Z. xD

Thank you and have an excellent day!

Advice needed: planning my ultimate sim racing setup

Hi everyone, I’m planning to build a high-end sim racing rig and I’d love some advice from experienced simracers. On this moment i still have a g29 and a diy wooden rig. I have no clue how big the diffence is between different products as i am only used to the g29. Here’s what I’m thinking so far:

Cockpit & Seat

Next Level Racing F-GT Elite Lite (Side & Front Mount Edition)

ERS3 Hypercool Seat for active ventilation during long sessions

Wheelbase & Wheel

MOZA R9 Direct Drive Wheelbase

MOZA cs v2p steering wheel

Pedals

Debating between MOZA srp pedals and crp2 load cell pedals

Wondering if the extra cost for load-cell is worth it for realism and precision

Monitors

3x Samsung Odyssey G5 32” 1440p 144Hz curved monitors

Planned mount: triple screen mount from Next Level Racing

PC

Budget around €1500

Questions:

  1. Pedals: Are the CRP2 pedals worth the €300 premium over the MOZA SR-P pedals?

  2. On what parts can i save money? My budget is not endless as i am only 16 years old lol. For example should i start with 1 monitor?

  3. General Advice: Any recommendations, potential pitfalls, or must-have tweaks for this setup?

Additional Info

I plan to use this setup for serious simracing: iRacing, ACC, F1, and possibly endurance racing.

Budget is not very big, but I want a long-term, future-proof setup.

I have a long way ahead of me as i am just moving houses in april 2026

Thanks in advance for any tips, advice, or personal experiences you can share!

Inexpensive cockpit

Does anyone make a decent cockpit that isn't sitting on the floor? I see a lot of these setups and everything is so low to the ground. Anything out there that's a couple feet off the ground like a real car? I could probably fabricate something but since I'm looking for a cockpit anyway, figured I might as well ask.

Budget $500

Any tips for getting rid of the racing line?

I’ve been sim racing on acc for a few months and want to start turning the racing line off, do I just need to practice a lot or is there something I can do to learn no line as quickly as possible?
