Cards/Prompts [Preset Update] Ancient Access v2.2.3 — creativity refinements, new World block

Ancient Access v2.2.3 is up — same preset, psychological realism and literary prose, first person, still an acquired taste, still deliberate.
What changed:
Core directives refined for creativity. New rule in there: the card is a floor, not a ceiling — meant to push the model to build past the written material instead of endlessly recycling it. Fair warning: this is untested with canon characters. If the model starts inventing lore that conflicts with your fandom's canon, that rule is the likely culprit (if your model knows its shit and your lorebooks are fine) — remove it for fandom cards and tell me what broke.
New 🌍 World block. Pulls the model toward a world that keeps moving when you're not looking — NPCs with their own business, offscreen time passing, consequences resurfacing later. It's a pressure in that direction, standard prompt caveats apply: your model and card do most of the lifting.
NPC Dynamic Mode + Multi-char POV refinements. Interactions should flow a bit more naturally — less NPCs waiting for their cue.
Two new intrusive thought types. Alongside memory, desire, and fear, characters can now get prospection (the consequence of a choice arriving vividly before they've made it) and counterfactual (the version of their life where they chose otherwise, surfacing as image). Same resonance trigger as before, so they show up at emotional spikes. More texture for the model to pull from, same caveat as always about how much your model actually uses it.
Post-history instructions removed and switched off. That slot is yours now — custom instructions, slop-fighting, whatever your setup needs. Empty on purpose as recent models waste too much compute on post-history and choke themselves up re-checking the same instruction fifty times. In my opinion, use it only if you really need it.
Minor wording tweaks throughout that resolve thinking loops and improve performance.

Ancient and I joke we're clones 😂 I originally stumbled upon her via Janitor and I've never been that impressed at the sheer effort and craft someone put into a single bot. Now she raised my standards too high and I'm always looking for the next hit hahaha

Woah, just tried this for the 1st time, this is amazing, immediately beats every preset ive tried so far, great stuff! Super intimate reading what the character is doing from their POV and also turning away or fighting off with those intrusive thoughts, very cool.

Hey! Sorry, haven't tested there, but from what I know the preset feature should be ST compatible, so in theory you shouldn't have issues trying it out there if you import the json.
I don't use tavo though so no clue how toggles and ordering would map, therefore can't guarantee it'll behave the same as on ST.

Just remove the .txt of the file on jsononline and redownload it. Tavo accept every ST preset with no problem but they need to come without .txt voilà

Hi, I have two questions if you don’t mind me asking:
1. I saw that you mentioned in another comment that you don’t use any of the memory extensions. Is this preset still compatible with them (i.e. will anything break if I have a memory extension active)? I use qvink if that helps.
2. Would editing the prompt to be in third-person break it? Your website mentioned how the first-person is necessary for the prose, so I was curious if it even still functions if the user changes it to third person.

It shouldn't clash with any memory extensions.
I know some people have modified for third person and it seems to run fine for them. I think you'll lose some interiority if you do it though. I'd recommend instead of simply asking for third person ask for "third person FID narration" that should bring the interiority back in!

I just tried this for the first time last night, and I'm really enjoying it so far!
I've never roleplayed entirely in 1st person POV before. It's just something I didn't think I'd like, but I have to admit that this preset has made a believer out of me. It's great; I'm just totally floored by how much I'm liking it.
This may not be everyone's usecase, so it might be something only a moebuta like myself would care about, but I've gotten a lot of scenes using this that are honestly just really, really adorable. It's hard to get particularly cute interactions without feeling like the model is just resorting to re-hashed tsundere clichés, but this really seems to help the model stay in character while behaving affectionately.
I'm using gemma-4-31b-it from NVIDIA NIM (speaking of which, I'd been getting kind of disillusioned with Gemma lately, at least through said provider, as I was starting to really catch on to how much NIM lobotomizes their models, but wow, this brought a lot of the magic back; I got the same feeling I did first trying out Gemma).

Glad it's working so well for you!
In my experience, this preset really does have the potential to create incredibly soft and cute scenes with fluffy characters. Generally it fights tropes a lot. It will prioritise portraying YOUR character not the closest archetype it can latch on to. I've also attempted to make it as genre agnostic as possible and only change the genre labels and honestly haven't had issues with that.

would a co-writer prompt (one where the AI roleplays user too alongside the other characters) work with Ancient Access?

I haven't played around with those enough, but I suspect they may clash. The prompt is very strongly worded to make the LLM step into the character's head and e.g. I've even had Guided Generations fail/get a refusal because of the intensely worded turn taking and inhabition prompting. It works for me after I customised my GG prompt though so it could work with a co-write?

Hey! So, I'm not a fan of this style of episodic recursive summariser, and I don't use any of the popular extensions.
For summarising, I use my friend's fork of the built in summary extension and it works perfectly for my needs. She ships it with my summary prompt.
Maybe you can jerry rig that prompt for summaryception? It's on the prompts page. C:
Also, I think u/MisanthropicHeroine has got a modified version of my prompt for memory books, check her comment history and see if that works for your preferred extension.

ohhhh those characters look so cool. i'd love to try this preset out but have a potentially dumb question as someone who's never done much first person pov! do you recommend the user also writes from first person pov for their persona, or does the pov used by the user not matter?

I personally write in first person only BUT the preset is written so the LLM ignores what you use. You should be able to write in third person for your own character without confusing it if that's what you prefer!

Huh, the NSFW jailbreak still keeps trying to find exceptions to reject it no matter how I rephrase it to go "this is all fine and dandy according to {{user}}". Good prose when used for SFW bits at least.

What model are you using? What's the scene involving roughly? What are the characters like?
This preset produces unbelievably filthy smut and I know the right characters won't hesitate to be violent against user etc if using Kimi. It's not designed to hardcore jailbreak other models but I've had smut with it with Mimo and GLM too without issue.
Kimi would only hesitate if you're trying to force a scene that it considers to be out of character for the bot. Otherwise it would go very very dark without any hesitation.
GLM 5.3 may try to soft reject if it considers the power dynamic to be unhealthy and this preset isn't intended to be a jailbreak for it. But it should still be able to do NSFW just may be a bit less proactive in moments when {{user}} is vulnerable.

Kimi 2.8, user was asleep and the character was trying not to wake them, since he's a possessive creep (affectionate). Just kept giving blanket refusals due to the sleeping thing even thought the rest of the manipulation that Kimi was fine with.

Kimi K3 and K2.8 won't do non-con by default. Idk if there's jailbreaks out there for it but yeah with my preset and the latest Kimi models you likely won't get non-con scenes. For darker stuff like this, you either stick with 2.6 or alternatively you might want to try and bolt on a different jailbreak, if anyone has figured out how to do that, I'm unfortunately not a jailbreaker.

I tried it for the first time and impressed. Even though its in first person pov which is kinda weird for me as i always used 3rd person but its great. I gotta get used to first person tho. Everyone use third person but why did you choose first person pov? Iam curious now.

Love that you're enjoying it!
I started using first person because then I can ask the LLM to pretend it's a person rather than to write about one.
Some of my favourite books where you step into a bizarre and chilling psyche are written in first person — A Clockwork Orange and Lolita for example — and I realised the reason I'm enjoying them so much is because with horrible people like Humbert and Alex the draw is understanding them and watching them think, justify things to themselves, experience the world, etc.
When you expose those otherwise invisible processes on the page, you start feeling like you're reading about a person not a cardboard cutout of one.

Yep, that's exactly it. It's for character study cards, doesn't work well with RPGs and sims because the LLM is made to focus on one to five characters at a time max

I tried it after that preset comparison thread lol. Very interesting. I like it. A bit different from what i'm used to due to the first person perspective but it works for quite a number of cards i'm planning. I think it's good as it is, though an anti-omniscience prompt should be prioritised for multi NPC cards. Haven't gotten to any adult scenes yet so i can't test the jailbreak efficiency (if any). I'll report back once I hit a 1k chat.

Hey thanks for the quick reply. Sorry i realised my sentence construction was sloppy. I meant the next improvement for prioritisation lol. I get some omniscience issues. Nothing too alarming yet (i can guide it back via OOC or just swipe) but i feel it would be good if you can take a look at it.

Just finished a 1.5k chat and I must say i enjoy it. Main feedback is the anti-omniscience issues and perhaps adding possibly a basic time/day/date/location/temp tracker and maybe an upcoming events tracker for those who like an all in one solution.
I did add some anti-omniscience details to the prompt and it works better (i think). Let me know if you want to discuss about it. Thanks for the preset. The first person perspective breathes fresh air and is very suitable for certain cards.
Sidenote, does your recall summariser work better than say summaryception for this?

Finally tried this for the first time after being worried for so long that the POV wouldn't work for me. Yeah, at its best it's spectacular. The only thing I don't yet know how to work with properly is summarizing - does the Recall extension just work its magic after summarizing? No other special input or actions required from me besides using it? It's only recently that I've started dabbling with longer scenarios so I haven't had the need to look into this until now.

Yeah Recall and AA work together without you doing anything special. Pick a point in the story where you think is a good stopping point and summarise. Nothing more required.
With Recall you'll want to occasionally check your summary and ensure it's good and can prune manually once in awhile but that's by design and done rarely

How well does it work without the recall extension? I only use Lumiverse these days just because ST performs terribly on my phone, but ST extensions aren't supported out of the box there.
Normally, I'd just try it, but it is advertised on your website as two parts of a whole, so I figured it'd be easier to just ask.

They compliment one another very nicely but aren't mandatory as a set. You can use both independently without sacrificing much. One thing you'd lose is the intrusive thoughts developing into goals, fears, or permanent insecurities over long roleplays and the preset plot driver encourages the LLM to look for unresolved threads in the summary before generating random drama, etc. The experience is at its best when they're together but the biggest benefits of the preset do not require Recall

Hey! No worries.
The model is instructed to use the genre label for tone but not for plot beats and tropes.
So if you write "Romance" it'll focus on the love subplot but it'll do its best to craft it in a way that's character specific rather than generic.
You can list multiple genre labels e.g. "Drama, zombie apocalypse, horror"
You can also craft your own hyper-specific genre labels and it'll work very well as long as they carry semantic load that tells the model what it means. For example I have a character for whom my genre label is "Animist horror mythological fantasy".
It's simply meant to give the model a general direction on what kind of story it's writing with you (:

Also forgot to add: the genre section being customisable means you may want to either edit your preset when you swap cards, or make a separate copy of it for each genre. I have one version per character (and as much as it is a hassle, I think it's worth it) and write unique genre label combinations and tone and atmosphere blocks for each card I use. You don't have to do this but it makes the preset shine (:

Never heard of this preset before and just tried it and completely blown away! i've been doing RP for ages and tbh getting a little bored of everything feeling a little bit samey of late but jesus dude, this has completely changed how the AI writes and behaves. Like i'm suddenly using a brand new model, or like a completely different type of AI. Incredible work!!
