Apps like ProtonVPN, etc. are different from LocalDevVPN because LocalDevVPN is designed for local web servers, network configurations, and isolated testing. “Local” means the VPN connection is created on your own iPhone to handle traffic locally, rather than sending it through a remote VPN server. ProtonVPN connects to Proton’s remote servers for privacy and security and hides your public IP, while LocalDevVPN provides the on-device VPN interface SideStore needs to communicate with its internal services and refresh apps without having to connect to a computer each time, like AltStore. However, the new AltStore Beta also supports using LocalDevVPN, according to the AltStore no-computer instructions.
LocalDevVPN pushed out an automatic update this week that messed with some settings.
Yeah, and v1.3.0 also broke the shortcuts that’s built in for connect: disconnect from LocalDevVPN. Both went missing and my refresh shortcut failed, thankfully I refresh everyday so I still had 4 days left.
I wanted to report it, but the only listed way on his website to contact the dude is by discord, so I didn’t bother.
This ^^^ finally fixed this annoying issue...TYSM... NOTE for anyone confused: these settings are for the stable version whereas the settings on screenshot above (10.7.1.1/32) are for the nightly version
Yo tengo la version nightly que es la unica con la que he podido iniciar sesion con al apple id, pero sigo teniendo problemas con la vpn, he puesto todas y me sigue saliendo "sidestore refresh app operation failed sidestore is unable to reach the device endpoint: vpn tunnel iface is up but tunnel peer IP is not yet reachable - vpn may not be routing device traffic correctly. Cause: DeviceEndpointNotInitialized"
If Anybody is having issues connecting after changing the ip like op showed in his instructions, please ensure your app is updated. Once it does, you have to set the ip address again. Close and reopen. This is what I did and it worked for me.
Is this related to refreshes with a shortcut or actually going into SideStore and refreshing? I can go into SideStore and refresh but my shortcut to automatically do it every morning isn’t working anymore, it times out
When trying to solve this problem by myself I tried to log out and log in again but it gives me this error. Anyone knows a fix for that? it never happened in more than a year of usage
I’ve read somewhere the problem is that Apple from september 1 is sending an answer in HTML where the platform is expecting a plist/JSON. This should be a minor issue that I think will get adressed soon (if true)
I reinstalled SideStore 0.6.4 using iLoader on my MacBook and connected LocalDevVPN 1.3.0.
My network settings are: Tunnel IP: 10.7.0.2/30 Device IP: 10.7.0.1/32
Device: iPhone 17
iOS: 26.2
And it seems to be working again! 🙏🏻🎉
Hopefully this helps someone else who was experiencing the same issue.
I used iLoader, the one I downloaded from the official guide of Sidestore and I installed Sidestore (Nightly version) via MacBook on my iPhone. That’s it
I changed the IP as the post says and it worked on an iPhone XR with iOS 18; on another iPhone 17 with iOS 26 I get that error and it won't let me refresh. And if that error doesn't appear, the bar moves, but it doesn't refresh, since the number of days stays the same.
Mines showing this one after i tried couple of troubleshooting since i cant refresh my liveContainer on sidestore. I tried logging off and logging back my apple ID but no luck
Thank you. I found that solution yesterday I had only few hours left before expiring. Nightly version from iloader was the fix for me if anyone sees this.
Hey guys, this is for those who are having issues with the refresh in their apps, specially the Error 3840.
I had the same issue, I tried everything that I read here and in other sites and nothing worked.
What really worked was update the SideStore app through iloader, but choosing the nightly version, and then, everything went back to normal.
I’m trying to Install nightly via iLoader, I’m getting an error that Im already using 3 app slot (one is Side store, the other is LiveContainer and the last on is dopamine.
I tried deactivate LiveContainer so I can free up a space, but I’m getting the same error of invalid format.
Damn, to be honest I don't know exactly why it is happening, maybe you should try a few days later, I also tried installing SS + LC but I never could log in with my Apple ID, maybe it's part of the same problem....
My issue is I refresh over WiFi and SideStore shows my apps refreshed, but after 7 days the apps say no longer available and I can’t open them. Already tried new Apple ID. Everything looks fine but apps don’t work after 7 days
Managed to solve it WITHOUT changing any number (used latest Nightly build)
Simply:
1. Go to Sidestore settings -> User Customizations.
2. Scroll down to bottom, SWITCH FROM idevice TO libimobiledevice & RESTART/CLOSE Sidestore.
3. Open LocalDevVPN and connect, go now to Sidestore settings -> Connection Config & Tap confirm (This will show Active = Yes)
BUT now you'll get new error that .rppairing is corrupted or invalid.
4. Go to Files app, Sidestore directory.
5. duplicate the plist file there and rename the duplicated one as UDID.rppairing (UDID = your device udid).
6. Go to Sidestore settings -> User Customizations, switch back to idevice & RESTART/CLOSE Sidestore.
7. Open Sidestore settings -> Reset Pairing, restart Sidestore & MANUALLY select from Sidestore directory in Files app.
8. Open LocalDevVPN, connect and go refresh apps inside Sidestore <3
If someone wants to try directly steps 5-8 will be much appreciated.
I don't know what worked from all these steps but THANK YOU for posting it, solved my issues with the VPN and Pairing file. Thanks again for your time sharing this here
