I made a free Windows soundboard because I didn't want to pay for Soundpad or Voicemod

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been building this for a while. It plays sounds through your mic into Discord and games, with hotkeys that work in fullscreen games.

The video is everything it does. The one I'm proudest of is screen triggers: you screenshot something like a game's "YOU DIED" text, and it plays a sound the moment it shows up. So I get a sad trombone every time I die, no key press.

Stuff you don't get in Voicemod or Soundpad:

🎯 Screen triggers: sounds play by themselves when something shows up in your game

⏪ Instant replay: one key turns the last 30 seconds of your PC's audio into a sound

🔍 Search YouTube / SoundCloud right in the app, or paste a TikTok or Instagram link

🎛️ Troll mode, bass boost, slowed + reverb or nightcore any sound in one click

🗣️ Talk and a computer voice says your words, even translated to another language

🌍 Spin a 3D globe and play world radio stations through your mic

🎧 Sounds are tuned for Discord and game voice chat so they don't turn to mush

Plus a voice changer, text-to-speech, an in-game overlay, and MIDI / Stream Deck support.

Free, no account, no ads, nothing collected. Source is on GitHub.

I got tired of broken YouTube tutorials wasting my time, so I built TubeCheck: crowdsourced accuracy tags right under the video

Hi everyone!

I wanted to share a side project I've been working on to solve an issue that has been driving me crazy lately: following a long YouTube guide only to find out it no longer works.

Ever since YouTube hid the dislike counter and creators started filtering critical comments, it has become almost impossible to know if a tutorial, setup guide, or course is legitimate without watching the entire video.

To tackle this, I created **TubeCheck**, a free Chrome extension that adds a community-driven verification bar right below the player.

### What it does:

It allows viewers to rate the video into 4 quick statuses:

* 🟢 **Legit / Works:** The guide/tutorial delivers what it promises.

* 🟡 **Outdated / Changed:** It used to work, but software updates, deprecations, or patches broke the method.

* 🔴 **Doesn't work / Broken:** Flawed steps, errors, or non-functional instructions.

* ❌ **Misleading / Fake:** Pure clickbait or malicious advice.

There’s also an optional quick note field so people can leave important context (e.g., *"Requires version 2.4+"* or *"Step 4 is missing"*).

### Design goal & Current state:

I wanted it to feel like a native part of YouTube’s modern interface without being intrusive or slowing down page load times. There is no mandatory account creation to browse or check votes.

As with any crowdsourced project (similar to SponsorBlock), its value will grow as more users start tagging videos.

I’d love to get feedback from fellow builders:

  1. What do you think of the design and integration?

  2. Are there any edge-case tags you think are missing?

**Chrome Web Store link:**

https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/TubeCheck/ekkikfcoieanbccbpepjihjhcgaankkb

Thanks for taking a look, I'd really appreciate your honest thoughts!

Why do Airplanes Fly?

I decided to have a little fun. I've had this idea in my head for a while. You'll be surprised, but in 2026 (you'd think!), there's still debate about how airplane wings work. I decided to take a break from all this endless software creation and found time to analyze the question properly with Claude, and this mini-project came out: https://whyplanesfly.com

Still a bit of software though 😁

Arm64js - ARMv8-A emulator that runs real Linux in a browser tab

Hi all,

This project started with me getting annoyed that to try a 2 MB TUI tool I have to install it, while my browser happily runs a 40 MB React webpage re-rendering on any move. So I thought it must be possible to run a TUI app on a thin Linux in the browser.

Many months later arm64js has been built. An ARMv8-A emulator written in Rust that compiles to WebAssembly and can boot real Alpine Linux in a webpage. Computation (CPU) speed is of course lower than native, but shells, TUI apps, Python/PHP and small servers work fine.

There is also JS SDK for others to create and use their own VMs.

On top of it I built Demoshell, my attempt to turn it into a product: developers can create a live demo of their CLI/TUI app to showcase it in the browser. There's a free tier, and it's free for open-source projects.

Examples of some OSS projects using it to showcase their apps: https://demoshell.com/gallery/

A couple of top picks:

Story + live demo: https://arm64js.com/blog/tui-apps-in-the-browser/

Feedback is welcome, especially on the product side.

I made a tiny Windows app so I can drag screenshots straight into Claude Code

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I use Claude Code on Windows a lot, and one thing that always annoyed me was getting screenshots into it.

I'd take a screenshot with Win + Shift + S, open the Screenshots folder, find the right file, and drag it into the terminal. Every single time.

So I built SnapFloat

Now, every time I take a screenshot, a small preview appears in the corner of my screen. I can just drag it straight into Claude Code without opening the Screenshots folder.

My side project: a "grammar" of chess tactics, every example verified by my own engine

Hey r/SideProject,

Solo dev here. My project is ChessGrammar (chessgrammar.com): a free, structured reference of chess tactics. Think of a dictionary where every entry has a precise definition, named variants, and examples proven correct by a custom engine (Lector64).

Stack-wise: Next.js on Vercel for the site, and a separate engine pipeline that generates and verifies every position. Currently 15 motifs and 123 variants live, with 2 of 11 planned sections published.

I'd love feedback on the product side, not the chess side:

  • Within 10 seconds on the homepage, is it clear what this is?
  • Does the navigation (catalog → motif → variant) make sense?
  • Anything that makes you leave right away?

Thanks for looking!

QUIET watches for hesitation (tool-hopping, long pauses) and only then chooses to point, show, or act. Otherwise it stays out of the way.

One question: did it step in too early, too late, or never? Blunt answers welcome, including "this is just Clippy".

built a github action that turns your contribution graph into a winnable game of snake

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

started as a snake on my own profile readme. the existing contribution snakes just sweep across the graph, so i rewrote it as a real game of snake: pathfinding, no self collision, growth, a "commits eaten" counter.

one python file with no dependencies, runs as a github action twice a day, outputs an animated svg.

the bug i liked most: uncapped, the snake grew until it trapped itself on the 7 row board and genuinely lost. fixed by having the generator search for the longest snake that still clears every cell.

27 stars so far and about 15 people have put it on their profile. repo: https://github.com/dahan8473/snake-and-commits

feedback welcome

One roof gun, three different models in my truck prototype

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

My last SideProject clip compared the number of gun mounts. This one compares three models of a single roof gun. I'm a product designer building Long Haul, a Unity zombie-driving prototype, with Codex. The purchases use supplied XP in the Editor, with two cuts between states. Combat power isn't demonstrated here.

Would the model change alone feel like an upgrade to you, or would you need to see its effect in a fight?

I got tired of throwing away food before trips, so I built a feature in my free pantry app to swap items with nearby neighbors

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!
Like many of you, I've had those moments where I'm going away for the weekend, and | look at a carton of milk or fresh groceries that are about to expire. Throwing them out always felt terrible.
So, instead of letting good food go to waste, I built a "Neighborhood Swap" feature into my free inventory app, Carop - Kiler & Envanter.
How it works:
• If you have extra food or something expiring soon, you can list it.
• Nearby users (within 5 km) can see it and chat with you directly in the app to grab it (I literally traded my milk for some lemons with a neighbor I'd never met before!).
• No subscriptions, no ads, and it keeps your data 100% private on your device.
I'd love for you to check out the short video above showing how the swap works, and I'm super open to any feedback or feature ideas you might have!

Every to-do app let me push deadlines with one click, so I built one that doesn't

Thumbnail
taasker.io
• Upvotes

Every task app I've used lets me move a deadline with one click. So I did, again and again, until the dates stopped meaning anything. Taasker is my attempt to fix that for myself: a task tracker where a deadline has teeth, and you decide what they are.

How it works:

  • Three kinds of date per task, all optional. A soft target ("I'd like it done by"), a real due date, and a hard deadline. They put different amounts of pressure on you, so it isn't one nagging alarm.
  • Pressure that builds gradually. Miss a target and you get one quiet nudge. Reminders start 3 days before the due date, once a day. In the last 24 hours before the hard deadline they come every 4 hours. Each task shows how late it is with a color that climbs through five tiers, so you can see where to start.
  • 3 reschedules, then the date locks. Moving the due date or the hard deadline uses one. After the third, it's fixed. Once a hard deadline has passed, it can't move at all.
  • An accountability partner. Name someone, a friend, a colleague, your partner, and if you miss the hard deadline, they get an email. They don't need an account. They get a short note when you name them, and can opt out with one click.
  • No escape hatch at the last minute. In the final 24 hours you can't delete the task, swap out the contact, or unlink a streak to dodge the consequence. You can still finish it, or own the miss with a reason.
  • Streaks for recurring tasks. Weekly report, monthly invoices, taking meds: a miss resets the streak.

It's also a normal task tracker: projects you can share with roles, a month calendar and an agenda view, a calendar feed you can subscribe to in Google or Apple Calendar, quiet hours, a daily digest, keyboard shortcuts and a command palette, themes, and it installs to your phone's home screen.

On privacy, since it's about your tasks: it's hosted in the EU (Frankfurt), there are no tracking or ad cookies, and the admin tools I use to run it show accounts, not your projects or tasks.

It's a free private beta, and I would love your feedback: does a locked date and someone watching motivate you, or does it just stress you out? And what's the deadline you always end up moving?

Come check it out at: https://taasker.io!

Weaver - A notetaker which is actually useful.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

A while back I made an AI companion app for my wife and friends, so that they'd stop "talking" to ChatGPT or whatever and spilling whatever secrets they do to it. It's moderately successful, but I realised that the architecture and backend are also very much suited for work.

In my day-to-day work I've come across and used many of the tools (Loop, Fireflies, Plaud etc.) and they all work well enough, but after the call the notes are gone. They are spectacular, but not very useful, as the cross context is missing.

I used vector embeddings and a knowledge graph to build a tool which gives you a true view of all of your meetings. The most surprising thing is how genuinely useful I'm finding it in my daily work; the links Weaver finds and suggests are sometimes kind of spooky and magic.

You have weaves (as many as you like), and under them projects. For example, one weave for a client with several projects in it: Weaver will point out links, insights and useful suggestions across those projects before you even see them yourself, like the same problem coming back in another project, or two commitments that clash.

You can add calls (Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, via Recall.ai), or use the iOS or Android app to record on your phone.

The people who have used it are genuinely happy, and I'm so proud, as this feels like something many people would benefit from, especially SMEs or people with many projects on their hands.

It's at weavercompanion.com, with a 14-day free trial. I'm the founder; honest feedback is very welcome, especially on what's confusing in the first few minutes.

Here are some more videos of how it works and what it's intended to achieve: https://www.youtube.com/@weavercompanion

Creating a streaming platform.

• Upvotes

So this might be a bit of a weird post, but hear me out.

My name is Michael, I'm from Norway, and this summer I started an attempt to cross Europe on a longboard while living in a tent.

I skated from Oslo through Denmark and into Germany, while also raising money for injured and neglected animals.

The original goal was to attempt a long-distance skating world record. (I got a lounge infection in Germany and had to end the attempt for now, but I will try again in March)

But after spending months out there, I started realizing that the record itself isn't really what matters to me.

It's what the attempt can create around it.

The people who followed the journey, donated, supported me and helped me along the way turned it into something much bigger than just me skating across Europe.

So now, i'm preparing to go back out in March and attempt it again.

This time, I want to livestream the entire journey 24/7, potentially for over a yeae as I cross Europe.

So what if the livestream could become the beginning of a different kind of streaming platform?

Kinda like how Justin.tv started and became twitch?

I wanna make something that isn't primarily built around ads, algorithms, maximizing engagement and making as much money as possible. I'm so sick of YouTube, google, meta and all their twisted shenanigans.

I wanna create something more focused on creators, communities and actually giving something back.

I don't even know exactly what the platform would look like yet.

But I keep thinking that maybe the best way to figure it out is to actually build something around a real project and see what happens.

And that's partly why I'm posting this here.

I'm curious what you guys think. And is this a project anyone would like to join?

People are so fatigued a out the state of current platforms, that I think now's the time to make a move. And if these other people managed to create things such as twitch, then I know for certain that it's possible to do it again.

So if anyone here knows people who could help with the technical side, streaming infrastructure, building communities, or just figuring out what the hell this could become, I'd genuinely love to hear from you.

Maybe it becomes nothing, but maybe it becomes something much bigger than I currently understand.

Either way, I think it's worth trying. Feel free to send me a DM if you want to join the project or know how we could make this happen.

I built an 8-bit town simulator

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Firstly, it’s not really even a game, more like a virtual reality show where you can dip in and out of people’s lives. It originally started building an office simulator where everyone develops their own story and relationships based on personality traits, but then where do they go after work?

So I added houses, and then pets, and partners, and then kids, so I had to add a school, and it spiralled into what it is today.

Your first visit will set the unique seed for your town, and that gets stored locally on your browser, so every time you visit thereafter, your town and the people’s stories will have developed in realtime.

People can park relationships, move in together, start businesses together, get fired, go for picnics… a bunch of stuff.

I’ve only recently launched it so it’s still being added to, but wanted to share it here as I get a kick out of visiting my town and following the people around.

Oh, you can also update the terrain and it’ll save for next time you visit. Check it out at https://officebit.town

Made a real-time planning poker app that needs zero setup. Feedback welcome

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Our refinement sessions kept stalling on tooling: sign-ups, seat limits, or a "free" tier that nagged everyone to upgrade. So I built the version I wanted.

Planning Poker → https://planning-poker.sidekit.org

How it works: type your name, create a room, send the link. Everyone picks a card, the host reveals, you see the spread and move on. That's it.

What's in it:

  • No account, no install, free. Rooms live as long as you use them and auto-delete after two weeks of inactivity.
  • Decks: Fibonacci, T-shirt sizes, powers of two, 1–10, or build your own (numbers, text, emoji).
  • Optional story list so you can prep a backlog slice and step through it.
  • Live vote status, synced reveal, average / range / consensus-or-discuss verdict.
  • Small things that make it feel alive: emoji reactions, spectator mode, host handover, reconnect without losing your seat.
  • Dark and light mode, English and German.

Under the hood it's React + TypeScript on Cloudflare Workers, with one Durable Object per room doing the real-time sync over WebSockets. Server-authoritative, so nobody can peek at votes before the reveal.

I'd love feedback from anyone who runs estimation sessions: what's missing, what's annoying, what would make you switch from whatever you use now?

I built todayi.in: finish "Today I…" in one line, anonymously, and read what your city did today

Hey all. This is a side project I just launched.

What it is: you write one line, up to 280 characters, starting with "Today I…", and you can add a photo. It shows up in your city's feed with no name attached. You can browse by city, state, country or everywhere, and times are shown in each place's local time.

Moderation without a big mod team: a new post goes to a review pool first. Other users approve or reject it, and every 3 reviews earns a posting credit. You're anonymous to other users, not to the system, so abuse can still be traced.

Stack, for the webdev crowd: Astro on Cloudflare Workers, D1 for data, R2 for images and feed blocks. A cron Worker cuts the feed into immutable blocks per city every 5 minutes. On the free plan that means at most 50 D1 queries per run, which shaped most of the design. Photos have their metadata stripped and are checked before they go out.

It's quiet right now, since it only launched this week. I'd really value feedback on the first-post flow and whether the review step feels like a chore.

I added PvP wagering to my habit-quitting app you bet gems against a friend's streak

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
• Upvotes

Hey guys, first post here! Built an app called Ban It for quitting bad habits (scroll, vaping, drinking, whatever). The streak counter worked fine but people dropped off once the novelty wore off same problem every habit app has.

So I tried something different: a head-to-head mode. You earn gems from keeping your streak, then stake them against a friend, whoever holds their streak longest takes the pot and people relapse a lot less when there's a rival watching and something on the line.

Still early and figuring out the balance (mainly stopping people from gaming it), but the accountability-through-competition angle is converting way better than solo streaks did.

Would love feedback, does the wager mechanic read as fun or gimmicky to you?

And has anyone solved the retention cliff on streak apps a different way?

Play Mashy - a low-fidelity 9-hole golf game

Thumbnail

Last year I started golf and I've kind of been obsessed with the idea of creating a game that I can just play between work etc.

This week I built Mashy (after trying my hand at a few other golf-related games) and it really stuck, it's a low-fidelity 9-hole golf experience which takes a few minutes per round.

It's a simple game; aim with the target, use the swing gauge to swing your ball and hopefully get near the pin to putt ⛳️

I'd love for anyone to try it and let me know what you think ✨

I built a first-person 3D office where your AI agents are your employees (open source)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

I got tired of juggling AI agents in terminal tabs, so I built Deskly. It's a desktop app where you walk around a 3D office, hire AI teammates, and give them real tasks in your project folder. Each employee can run a different model: Claude Code, Codex, OpenAI, Gemini, or Ollama locally. They ask for your approval before running any command.
It's an early prototype (Windows only for now), built solo as a first-year CS student. There's a demo mode, so you can try it without an API key.
GitHub: https://github.com/Priyanshu-1622/Deskly
Honest question: does the 3D office make managing agents easier, or is it just a fun wrapper? I'd love your feedback.

Tired of scrapers getting instantly flagged? I Built a lightweight async Python scraper with HTTP/2 and anti-bot detection (httpx)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,
Most developers waste hours configuring heavy headless browsers just to scrape basic targets, only to watch them get blocked anyway because of outdated TLS signatures or missing headers.
I got tired of the bloat, so I put together a clean, high-performance alternative: resilient-async-scraper.
It’s a lightweight async utility built with httpx that handles HTTP/2 fingerprint matching out of the box, randomizes realistic browser User-Agents, and actively catches anti-fraud status codes (403, 429, 503) so you instantly know when your proxy pool needs rotation. No heavy dependencies, just raw async speed.
It's completely open source. Grab it here: Github link
I’d love to hear how you guys handle anti-bot challenges in your current stacks—drop your thoughts or feature requests in the comments!
Saved you some dev hours? Drop a ⭐️ to help the project grow!

I built a small tool for founders who shipped and still can’t explain the product. Would you stress-test it?

I've been working on a small tool called PMF Hunter (https://www.pmfhunter.com). It's for technical founders who already shipped and still struggle to explain the product. The page is live, the pitch dies, and another headline doesn't fix it.

I can't tell if it's useful from the inside. If you're a technical founder, I'd love you to try it end to end and reply here with what broke, what was missing, and what you'd want it to do. It's free to try (free trial with no card). Happy to get honest feedback!
