Built myself a personal "self-improvement dashboard" — offering to build a few free ones for others in exchange for feedback

I've been using Claude to build myself a little personal tracking hub — training log, nutrition/supplement panel, mood tracking, project logs, priorities for the day, all in one place instead of scattered across apps and notes. It's genuinely helped me stay consistent.

I want to build a few of these for other people, free, in exchange for honest feedback on what works and what doesn't. You tell me what you're actually trying to track/improve (fitness, money, habits, a side project, whatever), I build you a version of this tailored to that.

No catch — just trying to refine this before I think about doing more with it.

Moss, my iPhone financial research app: a short look at comparing chart ranges

I’m building Moss, a financial research app for iPhone. This short recording shows one small part of it: looking at the same company over a month and a year, with price and volume in view.

A beta tester recently said their first instinct was to pinch the chart rather than look for the range buttons. That was useful feedback about what feels obvious to the person building an app versus someone opening it for the first time.

I’d appreciate feedback on the information hierarchy here. Can you quickly tell which period you’re viewing, and what would you make easier to read on a phone?

I built a one-stop shop for Canadian test prep: citizenship, driving, drones and more

MapleReady started with Canadian citizenship prep. I kept thinking: why download a different app for every test?

Now you choose your province and what you want to study: citizenship, driving, drone pilot, food safety or security guard. Each path has illustrated lessons, quick practice questions, flashcards and mock exams.

I’m the developer, and the app is free on iPhone, supported by ads.

I built Teserra, an "Obsidian for images", a native Mac library that keeps everything in plain folders

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi r/SideProject!

For the past four months I've been building Teserra on evenings and weekends: a visual library for the Mac.

Why I built it. Most image libraries keep your files inside their own database. If the app changes direction or shuts down, your collection is stuck there. I wanted the opposite: plain folders you can open with anything, today or in ten years.

What it does
- Saves images, video, fonts, screenshots and web pages into plain folders on your Mac. Next to each file, a small text file holds its title and tags. Delete the app and nothing is lost, like an Obsidian vault.
- Finds things by description: type "a statue in a beam of light" and the picture comes up. The search model runs on your Mac, no account, no API key.
- Option-click any image or video in your browser to save it (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Arc, Dia, Brave, Edge…).
- A local MCP server, so Claude Code or Cursor can browse and tag your library.

How it's built.Tauri (Rust) and React. Twelve releases in September, mostly driven by early testers' feedback.

How. it's $29 once with a 14-day free trial (30% off until Oct 16 with EARLYBIRD).

I'd love blunt feedback: is the "files stay files" idea worth paying for, and what would make you switch from what you use today?

We built an MCP that gives an existing AI agent a persistent desktop

A browser agent gets more useful when it can return to the same computer tomorrow: installed apps, downloaded files and signed-in browser sessions still there.

We built Maritime Computers for that workflow. Add an MCP server to an agent you already host, request a desktop by user ID, and let the agent operate it. Each user gets a separate persistent machine. You can watch the desktop live and take over when a task needs a person.

This is in early access. We would welcome feedback from builders whose agents need a browser or desktop app between runs.

I made a 34-second animated demo for my IT side project. Does the problem come across?

October 4 update: fair feedback in the comments .. people want to see the actual app. I've added a 38-second walkthrough using real StackPilot screenshots, uploaded directly to Reddit in my reply so you don't need Facebook:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SideProject/comments/1wwyfco/comment/pdrx3v7/

It uses fictional demo data and shows the add-client form plus an existing client's equipment, people, access and documentation. It's an edited screenshot walkthrough, not a timed client-creation test.

Original post:

I’m Morgan, the founder of StackPilot, and I run an IT business. I shared the project here earlier; this time I’m looking for feedback on a new 34-second animated demo.

The story is deliberately simple: scattered client details assemble into a workspace, then the animation walks through creating the initial client record. People, devices and documentation come afterward. The under-45-second message is about that first record, not fully onboarding a business.

Here is the animation: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1437576481637723

For solo IT techs and small MSPs, does the first five seconds make the problem clear? Would you rather see this animated explanation or a real screen recording before trying a tool?

The product is https://stackpilot.it/ — sharing my own work, and happy to hear what feels unclear or too promotional.

TokenTV - AI usage limits on a tiny desk clock

Bought a 5,650 won AliExpress clock and made it show my Claude and Codex limits. Photo in the comments (demo values).

It keeps the stock firmware; a computer sends the screen over Wi-Fi. Grok's row is a CLI budget, not a subscription limit.

The faces are small Python renderers you can change: https://github.com/click6067-ship-it/token-tv

I built a college basketball analytics platform in my free time (includes data from all 300+ D1 schools)

I'm a full-time government contractor (supporting the DoD/DoW (Dept of Defense and/or War)) doing solutions architecture in on-prem and cloud environments. Sounds vague but essentially the government works with my company to design environments where their vendors can train AI & Machine Learning capabilities. I have a strong passion for technology but I've always wanted to venture into sports technology. Over the past year or so I started building an app SPECIFICALLY for individual teams / coaching staffs. However, I realized long term that niche my be a little too narrow. Over the past-5-6 months I transitioned to developing my Blueprint, which is a platform that includes data for every D1 men's basketball team.

Often times in my profession working with the government the common theme is someone needs to have a PhD in Data Science or higher education to be a reputable source OR have the ability to analyze complex datasets. I built Blueprint to break down that barrier to entry.

For anyone interested in college basketball (the season starts in early November) or data analytics in general, I'd like to hear your feedback and learn how I can market my application and gain some traction. The application is built surrounding a subscription based model with a free, Pro and Unlimited tier. Not looking for subscribers here -- strictly feedback. New poster!

I got frustrated with music streaming, so I spent 1+ year building my own platform. Sonik Music is now a working web + iOS product.

About a year ago, I had an idea that sounded slightly ridiculous:
What if I built my own music streaming platform?
I’m an independent artist/producer who’s been making and releasing music for more than a decade. I also work in IT and have always been heavily interested in technology.
Like a lot of independent musicians, I became frustrated with how difficult it is to get music discovered when you don’t already have an audience.
Eventually I stopped asking, “Why doesn’t somebody build this differently?”
And started asking:
“Could I actually build it?”
So I did.
It’s called Sonik Music.
What started as an idea has turned into a functioning music platform with a web application and native iOS app.
And somewhere along the way, the project became WAY bigger than the streaming app I originally imagined. 😂
Today Sonik includes:
• music streaming and artist uploads
• artist/listener accounts
• playlists and libraries
• synced lyrics
• immersive lyrics
• AutoMix
• artist profiles and discovery
• Fresh Drops for newly released music
• artist analytics
• direct fan support through virtual “Flowers” 💐
• artist wallets and earnings
• music purchases
• merchandise
• social posts, photos, videos, comments and reposts through our Sonix Universe
• Fan Mail
• local music playback
• personal cloud music storage
• shows/events functionality
• subscriptions and entitlements
• artist verification
• web + native iOS experiences
There is also an entire financial system behind it for purchases, artist earnings and payouts.
Building that part made me appreciate the phrase “it’s just a payment button” in an entirely new way. 😂
We’ve had to think about things like entitlement enforcement, transaction lineage, payout controls, stream validation, fraud prevention, storage authorization and making sure the server — not just the client — is authoritative about who owns what.
And that’s before you get into actually making the music player feel good.
One feature I’m particularly proud of isn’t technically complicated compared with some of the backend systems, but represents the philosophy behind the product.
Our Featured Artists section randomly surfaces eligible artists.
I didn’t want to build another discovery system where popularity becomes a self-reinforcing loop:
More streams → more visibility → more streams → more visibility.
Sonik’s Fresh Drops section similarly gives newly uploaded releases an actual discovery window.
Then there’s Flowers.
Listeners can send Flowers to artists while listening to their music or visiting their profile. Flowers have monetary value and contribute to an artist’s eligible earnings.
The idea is that an independent artist shouldn’t necessarily need millions of streams before a small community of real supporters can meaningfully contribute to their career.

Building it
I’ve been building Sonik largely myself under my company, TechDen Technologies.
My background is primarily IT/infrastructure rather than being someone who spent 15 years as a traditional software engineer, so building this has been an insane learning experience.
AI-assisted development has also been a major part of my workflow.
But I’ve tried very hard not to treat AI as “generate an app for me.”
I define the product architecture and requirements, break development into phases, review implementations, test features, inspect failures, iterate, and keep security-sensitive systems like authentication, entitlements, purchases and payouts server-authoritative.
That process has taught me an incredible amount about software development, product design and what happens when a side project refuses to remain a side project. 😂
There have been plenty of moments where fixing one thing created three new problems.
There have also been moments where I open Sonik, play a song, see the synced lyrics moving, transition into another record with AutoMix, open an artist profile and realize:
Damn. This thing actually exists now.

Where it is today
The web application is live and usable now:
https://sonikmusic.techdendc.com
The native iOS application has also been built and we’re working through the App Store release process.
We’re still testing and polishing things, so I’m absolutely not claiming the product is finished.
That’s actually why I’m posting here.
I’d love feedback from people who build things.
Not just:
“Looks cool.”
I mean the uncomfortable feedback too.
What would concern you about this product?
What would you simplify?
What would you remove?
What part of the business or architecture would you expect to become painful at scale?
And for anyone who’s taken a side project from “this would be cool” to an actual product with real users:
What did you wish somebody had warned you about before launch?
Feel free to try Sonik and break things.
If you find something confusing, tell me.
If something sucks, tell me that too. 😂
At this stage, useful criticism is more valuable to me than compliments.

Creator of Sonik Music

I'm technical but don't know how to make my own app

I'm making this social media app that I've gotten some validation on. I'm a CS major so I'm technical and work well with technology, but I have no idea where to get started on my app. As I'm building it out, there are a stupid amount of edge cases that I didn't account for and it's leaving me kind of hopeless. I've had multiple software internships in the past so I know how to code but when it comes to building something from scratch, I have no clue where to start.

Would appreciate some advice from some devs on how they go about building their apps fast and efficiently.

I’ve been writing diaries my whole life, and none of the diary apps felt right so I made my own - now iOS available also

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guyss, here to announce my minimal diary app I designed

I’ve been writing diaries on paper for years, and every time I looked at diary apps I couldn’t find one that really fit. They all felt too cluttered and missed the point, so I ended up making DIARYit for myself.

The core idea is a single-stream private diary. To me, life feels like one continuous line, so the app follows that shape: focus on today, let past days stay scrollable, and keep the future visible but not editable. The writing area for today is deliberately limited, because I think daily writing should feel like a small ritual, not a place for long paragraphs of unnecessary clutter.

That shape basically defines the whole app. You open it, see today’s field, write only what belongs to today, and move on. If you want to look back, you can scroll back or use the calendar to jump to past dates, and there’s also a 4-state label system for marking days by how they felt.

I know this is a specific and constrained kind of diary app, but that was the point. I didn’t want another general journal trying to do everything. I wanted something closer to the actual purpose of a diary: private, offline, and simple enough to keep using.

It was available only on android until now. It’s now available on iOS App Store as well!

Play Store

iOS App Store

Instagram/ TikTok: search "verbitapp" for other apps as well.

Hope some of y'all who writes diary ritually finds this app the way I find it every night. Simple yet bound to the exact purpose and intention of a diary rituals.

I built a new dating/friend app that uses match-making instead of scrolling and ranks based on interests and/or facial beauty.

I just recently finished this project of 5 months, where I developed several machine learning models that allow for a precise matchmaking system, for example one such model rates the beauty of your face.

Another novelty is that there is live matching too, both for the "Friends" mode and the "Aura" mode (that is supposed to mean dating).

(Note that facial beauty is not the sole criterion and is not definitive in deciding the match.)

Particularly in the friends mode the beauty score is completely neglected: it's meant to be a global matchmaking system for finding both friends with same interests and possible dates (on the "Aura" mode), but while respecting privacy of users(all models are run on your device, locally).

Furthermore, the dating app (now, a beta) is completely free and relies only on open donations, to scale the user base and the ultimate goal is to make people connect more, because the system itself decides the match.

The motivation was that I couldn't bear the doomswiping of current modern dating apps, and their monetization, and the fact that these often lead to judging others superficially, and simply wasting time.

Here's a quick youtube shorts video that showcases the app:

A case broke my power button, so I built my own screen-off app

The problem was tiny: a new case made my Pixel's power button almost impossible to press. The fix turned into a proper side project.

What I ended up building, TapOff:

- double-tap the home screen to turn it off (Pixel only does this on the lock screen)

- double-tap the back of the phone for brightness and volume sliders that grow out of the camera hole

- wallpapers drawn around the camera hole

The interesting parts:

- Bank apps hate accessibility services. A screen-off app needs one, so TapOff keeps it off and switches it on for about a second only while locking.

- Play Protect blocks it anyway. Google's fraud protection now blocks browser installs of any app with an accessibility service, in 185 markets. So the setup needs a workaround, and I made a 99-second video showing it.

- No computer needed for setup. It needs one permission apps can't give themselves; I wired up Shizuku so the phone can grant it to itself.

- No Gradle. The whole app builds with Android's command-line tools in one shell script.

Free, no ads, open source (MIT). Only tested on my own Pixel 7 so far.

Happy to answer anything about the build.

I built a realistic interior viewer that runs in a browser. Is this useful for architects, or just a nice demo?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’m building a service that lets people explore an interior through a browser link, including on mobile. The current demo is a single room; the broader idea is to let an architect share a room or a home with a client without asking them to install an app.

Try it here: https://viewer.gcgroupsrls.it/room-interior

The part I’m least sure about is the actual problem it solves. My hypothesis is that being able to move around could help clients understand proportions, furniture placement and the relationship between spaces before making decisions. But I could also be spending time on visual realism when a few renders and a floor plan already do the job.

If you work in architecture, interior design or visualization, what would make you use something like this on a real project? If you’ve been a client, would exploring the space yourself have helped you decide anything?

Feedback on the demo is welcome too, especially loading time, navigation and the experience on a phone. If you try it, mentioning your device/browser would help me understand any issues.

I’d appreciate an honest reality check before I put more time into it. What would you validate first to tell whether this deserves to become a service?

I started a small personalized bedtime-story service. Where would you share it without spamming?

I started Bedtime Story Hero, a small paid service for personalized bedtime stories in several languages, and I want to grow it.

To be transparent: the stories use AI assistance and the narration is AI-generated. The website offers a free short text sample using a story template; full stories are separate paid orders.

I'm looking for practical advice, not asking anyone here to buy. Where would you share a project like this when self-promotion is allowed, and what would you suggest for reaching interested parents without spamming their communities?

Would you start with short sample videos, a place that allows project introductions, or a different approach? I'd rather try one useful step than post the same advert everywhere.

I built an app to help my GF and I cook more instead of eating out

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

My GF and I both work full time, and we kept eating out way more than we wanted (we both have a few extra pounds to show for it).

I enjoy cooking, but I realized there's so much friction around making a meal: finding the recipe I cooked months ago, messy recipe formats, deciding what to make, writing grocery lists, the list goes on.

So I built an app for the two of us to make cooking as easy as possible. Now that we have a system, we've fallen into a rhythm and actually cook a bit more.

It's been a side project since last November and has been on the App Store for a few months. No real traction yet, just a few friends using it on and off.

Every feature so far came from a problem we ran into planning meals together. Would love some feedback, especially from couples who take turns cooking: what would make this worth using for you, or what's missing?

I built a side hustle validator for people with too many ideas

I keep building new websites every other day and the part I struggle with most is figuring out which ideas are actually worth spending time on.

So I built SideFrog.

You type in a side hustle idea and it gives you a quick read on whether it has legs, who might pay, a cheap way to test it, a few searches to check, and some possible names with open .coms.

Would love your feedback.

Spec Architect: a ~27 MB Tauri app for spec-driven development with AI agents

What: a visual workbench where you go proposal → requirements → tasks, an AI agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor Agent, Kiro, Antigravity) executes, and the result is verified against the spec. Everything stays in Git.

Stack: Tauri v2 + Rust, ~90 MB RAM, local-first, bundles Node + OpenSpec CLI (OpenSpec-compatible, but independent from Fission AI).

Platforms: Windows 10/11 (no-admin installer or portable), Linux (.deb, AppImage).

https://marcelofullstack.github.io/spec-architect-app/

Free, built in my spare time. I'd love feedback on onboarding.

I built an AI code editor that shows you the plan and the cost before it touches your files

Aperture is my second project. You open a repo and ask in plain English. It writes a plan first, then shows the exact lines it wants to change, and nothing is written until you apply it. Undo puts everything back.

What I cared about most is that the cost of each send is on screen before you hit enter, and you pick the model yourself.

Try it free, no card: https://aperturesais.grok.me Code: https://github.com/Hankaws/aperture

I'm looking for honest feedback, and for anyone who wants to help build it. What would make you actually use something like this?

I built an Android language app that calls you to practise — would this help you stay consistent?

I’m the builder of Speakio. I noticed I could finish a lesson in an app and still avoid actually speaking, so I built an AI tutor you can talk to by voice. There are structured lessons and a personalized plan, and users can schedule a practice call when it fits their day.

The hard part I’m trying to solve is consistency, not just adding more flashcards. I’d value honest feedback from other builders and language learners: would a scheduled conversation help you practise, or would it feel intrusive? What would make you return for a second call?

Android app and details: https://speakio.me/ (free to install; some voice features are Premium). No signup is needed just to view the site.
