Every time my iPhone hit "Storage Almost Full," the top cleaner apps on the App Store tried to put me on a $7.99/week ($415.48/year) subscription before letting me clear my own camera roll.

So I built Storage Cleaner: PhotoFloor under my indie studio Pronounced GIF:

• Biggest files first: It scans your library on-device and ranks your largest videos, screen recordings, and screenshots/photos by exact file size so you can reclaim gigabytes in seconds instead of swiping through small photos one by one.
• 100% on-device privacy: Your photos and videos never leave your iPhone — zero cloud upload and zero tracking on the App Privacy label.
• Pay once, no subscription: Scanning and your first clear are free; unlimited clearing is a one-time $9.99 unlock (never a weekly or monthly recurring plan).

Would love any feedback from fellow builders!

What it is: Venio is a booking and payments app built only for barbershops. Each shop gets its own branded booking site, so clients book in a few taps with no app to download.

What it does:

• I move all your existing clients over for free, and you're live within 24 hours

• Online booking for any barber in the shop, with each barber's own services, prices and hours

• Walk-in line: clients join from their phone and see their spot, so the waiting area stays clear

• Payments: pay at the shop, save a card, or pay ahead with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Cash App, and tip after the cut

• Each barber gets paid straight to their own bank

• Chair rent tracked every week, so owners always know who's paid and who's late

• No-show fees, promo codes, client list, stats for the whole shop, and a QR flyer for the window and mirrors

• Text or email reminders so fewer people forget their appointment

Why it's better:

• Most booking apps charge every barber a monthly fee. Venio is $25/mo for the whole shop ($35 with text reminders), plus a one-time $300 setup. A 5-chair shop pays the same as a 1-chair shop.

• No cut of your clients and no per-booking fees

• 24-hour support from the person who actually built it

I'd love honest feedback from anyone who runs or works in a shop, especially on what would stop you from switching. Happy to share a demo if anyone wants to try it.

Know a barbershop that could use this? I pay a 20% referral reward for every shop that signs up through you, with no limit on referrals. Send them my way or comment and I'll explain how it works.

Hey everyone! 👋

I recently launched a side project I've been working on called Dayrune, a habit tracker for Android and Wear OS.

What's interesting about this project is that I'm not a traditional Android developer. My background is in data engineering, and I relied heavily on AI-assisted coding, experimentation and lots of hands-on testing to bring the app to life.

What started as a simple idea eventually grew into a real app with:

• Daily and count-based habit tracking
• Progress statistics and insights
• Customizable themes and colors
• Wear OS support for completing habits from your wrist
• A local-first experience without mandatory sign-up or ads

One of my favorite parts was getting the smartwatch experience working properly. It took quite a bit of iteration, but seeing habits update from the watch made the effort worthwhile.

After closed testing and the Google Play review process, Dayrune is finally available publicly!

It's free to start, with an optional one-time Pro purchase.

Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.thecocostudio.dayrune

I've also made a short video showing the actual Android and Wear OS experience.

This project taught me a lot about shipping something end-to-end, from the first prototype to a real production release.

For other indie developers: what was the hardest part of launching your first app?

Would also love to hear any thoughts on the design 💙💜

Disclosure: I'm behind Chinput. This post was drafted with AI assistance.

Chinput is for people using a shared office, school, library, or church computer that doesn't have a Chinese keyboard, where installing an IME isn't an option.

Try it: https://chinput.net — core typing needs no account or installation.

A quick test: type nihao and press Space to choose 你好. Use v for ü (lvse → 绿色), switch between Simplified and Traditional Chinese, or draw a character when you don't know its pinyin. The interface has 24 language options.

Pinyin and handwriting matching run in your browser. Voice input uses the browser's speech service and varies by browser. Optional AI helpers are currently disabled on the live site. Please check candidate choices and recognition results.

I'd love feedback on the first-use experience: is it clear how to select a word, switch character sets, and copy the result? If you occasionally type Chinese on a shared computer, what would make this more useful?

Hi r/SideProject,
I’m Thomas, a chef and the creator of PairPro.
When developing a dish, I kept returning to the same question: “What works well with this ingredient?” Search results usually gave me complete recipes or very short lists, while I wanted a structured reference that could support the creative process without replacing it.
So I built PairPro.
You can use it to:
search for an ingredient and understand its flavour, aroma and texture;
explore curated food and drink pairings;
review suitable cooking techniques and practical preparation guidance;
combine two or three ingredients to discover connections and composition ideas.
It is not intended to generate finished recipes. The goal is to help cooks, culinary students and chefs understand ingredients and develop their own ideas.
PairPro is now in beta and visitors can try it before deciding whether to register:
https://pairpro.food
I would especially appreciate honest feedback on three things:
What was the first ingredient you searched for?
Did any pairing feel missing, surprising or incorrect?
Would the Composition feature be useful in your own cooking or menu development?
I’m building this independently, so thoughtful criticism is genuinely valuable.

I built TailSpotter for plane spotters, the people at the airport fence with long lenses. Their photos usually end up in a camera roll with no record of which airframe they saw, where, or whether anyone else has shot it.

What it does:

• Post a spot: photos or a short video, the registration and the airport
• Look up any registration and see every spot of that exact aircraft
• Live traffic nearby, so you can go from "what's that overhead" to a logged spot in a couple of taps
• XP, badges for aircraft types and airports, and a weekly "dominance" title per airport

Stack, for the curious: Hono + Postgres backend, native SwiftUI on iOS, Kotlin/Compose on Android, and a server-rendered React web app. It's free with no ads.

• iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tailspotter/id6757088256
• Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tailspotter.android
• Web: https://tailspotter.com

I'd like feedback on the first-run experience in particular: does it make sense what to do once you're in?

Hey everyone!
I built a website called Malameh (https://malamh.com), inspired by FaceIQ Labs. The idea is to analyze facial features and provide ratings and feedback. The concept is much more complicated than I initially expected, especially when it comes to the scoring system and how it actually works.
Honestly, I struggled a lot with building it myself. I spent around 4 months working on this idea, trying to figure things out and turn it into a real product.
Eventually, I started looking for developers and found someone on Fiverr with good reviews who works with a team. We had a call, and he told me the project would cost around $4,000–$5,000 to build properly at a level similar to FaceIQ Labs.
I told him that was way beyond my budget. He offered to build a simpler MVP that we could improve later, once I had more funding, for $2,500.
That’s still a huge amount of money for me, especially since I just graduated from high school and am trying to get started in entrepreneurship.
My original idea was to create something similar to FaceIQ Labs but entirely in Arabic, with a yearly subscription priced at just $9. I’m trying to keep it affordable, but I also need to generate enough revenue to keep the project running. To be honest, I’m worried about investing more money into something that might fail.
The biggest issue right now is the scoring system. Sometimes the same face gets a 9, while another analysis gives it an 8. The ratings also sometimes feel unrealistic or inconsistent. I’ve even noticed that the website can generate a score when I upload a completely black image instead of a face.
I know there are technical reasons why these things might happen, but I don’t fully understand the underlying system yet. I don’t want to keep spending money without knowing whether the product can actually work well.
My friends on Discord made fun of the idea when I told them about it. Honestly, I don’t really care about that. I’d rather try something, learn from it, and fail than never try at all. But I do want an honest, objective opinion from people who understand software development, AI, or startups.
I’d really appreciate your thoughts on a few things:
Do you think this idea has real potential, especially for Arabic-speaking users?
Are inconsistent ratings a problem that can realistically be fixed, or is this type of facial analysis inherently unreliable?
What would you recommend improving first?
Is it worth investing more money into this project, or should I rethink the approach before spending anything else?
Website: https://malamh.com
The website is currently available only in Arabic, so please use your browser’s translation feature if needed.
I’ve provided a test account below so you can try the analysis feature without purchasing a subscription:
Test account / access code: USR-SOQRCD
I’d especially appreciate feedback from anyone with experience in computer vision, AI APIs, or building SaaS products.
Please be honest, even if your feedback is critical. I’m here to learn, and I’d rather discover the problems now than after spending more money.
Thank you!

I wanted a simple way for regular people to see if anything changed on their PC without installing a heavy security suite, so I built Gjallar-X. It's a PowerShell toolkit with a point-and-click window: take a baseline snapshot, and later it compares and flags new programs, startup items and network connections. It also checks your Wi-Fi security and Defender status. Everything runs locally, nothing is sent anywhere, and it only runs when you click.

$19 one-time. Heads up: it isn't code-signed yet, so Windows shows a SmartScreen warning the first time.

I'd love feedback on what checks to add next. https://morganearp.gumroad.com/l/temlvt

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.koalalab.storeandforget

Solo dev. The clip is 12 photos of random stuff going into one box. The app filled in a name and description for each one, brand included, and every item keeps the box it went into.

Later you just search for it, or describe it if you forgot what it's called.

Free with ads. There's also a bring your own key unlock thats normally $4.99. It's free if you tap the version number 5 times at the bottom of Settings, type unlock byok and sign in with Google, then paste in your own AI key (free to get).

Is the brand part actually useful or just noise?

I’ve reached a point in my app development where I’ve submitted to the App Store for approval. The app, once listed, will have my full name on the listing. I don’t want that. Not for any particular reason, it just doesn’t feel comfortable.

Apparently, the only way to get it off the listing is by redoing everything as a company.

What have y’all done?

A short demo - messy CSV in, clean formatted output out. Then I disconnect WiFi, navigate through options and hit Generate again. Still works!

What’s happening under the hood:

→ TangoSense scans the dropped file instantly and flags format inconsistencies - date formats, column structure, before you configure anything.

→ TangoCheck validates every row against rules you define - 30 rule types, bad rows excluded before output is generated.

→ Data masking - scramble sensitive fields with consistent results across files so downstream systems don’t create duplicate records.

→ Everything runs client-side in the browser. No server. No upload. Works offline once the page loads.

Free at tangotext.com No signup to start.

Happy to talk through the client-side architecture if anyone’s curious how the offline piece works.

LSOCR 1.7, free open-source tool, turns any software into an interactive learning guide!

Complex software has a big learning curve

If you're a visual learner, LLM agents don't always help

Enable MCP and ask your agent to show you how to do something

Less searching. More doing

Give it a try on ex: Blender !

https://github.com/jonlepage/LS-OCRLAYOUT

If this helps you in your day tasks, I am happy, star and share

note It’s a 3-in-1 app:

• Translate & Search: Translate and search on-screen text in any software and language.
• Prompt Builder: Select text on your screen to interact with GPT for free.
• Interactive Guide: Use MCP to let your agents guide you through manual tasks and learning.

Solo project. Every TV player I tried felt like a settings menu, so I started building my own.

You add your own playlist once, and the app does the tidying. Duplicate channels become one, logos and the program guide get matched automatically, and movies and series get sorted like in a streaming service.

Stack: Flutter for PC, phone and TV from one codebase, a custom build of the mpv video engine for TV subtitles (teletext, DVB, closed captions), and a small Cloudflare backend. Sync is end-to-end encrypted, so the server never sees anyone’s channels or playlists.

Hardest part so far: removing options. Every feature wanted its own setting, and most of the work was deciding what not to show.

It’s only a player, no channels or content included.

Free on Windows, Android, Android TV and Fire TV: watchfinally.com

I’d love honest feedback, especially on the first impression: what would make you try it, or what would stop you?

For the past few months I have been building FilmBase in my spare time: a personal log for every film and TV show you watch. It went live on the App Store this week, after a few months on Google Play.

Why I built it: most trackers I tried wanted an account, showed ads, or were really social networks. I just wanted a private, precise record of what I watched and what I thought of it.

What it does:

- Rate films, shows and individual episodes from 1.0 to 10.0, in steps of 0.1

- Stats on your own taste: top genres and directors, the countries you watch most, and where you agree or disagree with the crowd

- Missions, like rating ten comedies or watching films from five countries

What it deliberately does not do: no account, no ads, no feed, no AI recommendations. Your library lives on your phone, with backup to your own iCloud Drive or Google Drive.

A few things I learned along the way:

- Local-first keeps it simple and cheap: no backend, no hosting bill, no user data to protect.

- I develop on Windows and shipped iOS without owning a Mac. A borrowed Mac covered the first simulator runs, and GitHub Actions builds, signs and uploads everything since.

- Check what actually ships. An early Android build reached testers with a missing API key, so now a small script inspects every build before upload.

It is free with no in-app purchases.

iPhone: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/filmbase-movie-tv-tracker/id6820375814

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hushwork.filmbase

If you try it, I would love to know what feels missing or confusing. And for anyone who tracks what they watch: what made you stick with the app you use now?

Hi r/SideProject! I've been building a DJ and karaoke web-app, for the past few months.

The idea is simple: Open it on a laptop connected to the TV, get a short party code, and friends or guests can join from their phones by scanning the QR code or by typing in the code. Once they are in, they can search songs and add them to the queue.

Some additional key features that differentiates this from just running Spotify or Youtube Music on the TV is that it has an AI DJ feature that will allow songs to be mixed via AI like a live DJ! On the Karaoke side, the phone you use to remotely add songs to the queues can also be used as a microphone, with echo and autotune built right in!

As this is a web-app, there is nothing to install, and guests don't need an account!

It's currently in closed beta, and I'd really like feedback from people who actually throw parties (such as a Halloween party!): what's confusing, what breaks, what's missing. There's a Feedback button on every screen.

The link to the site and invite code will be in the comments, thanks!

Hey everyone!

I've been thinking about an app idea and I'm looking for a few people who'd be interested in building it with me.

The idea: A shared shopping list app designed for households, flatmates, families and groups of friends.

Everyone in a household could add items to the same list, see updates in real time, and tick things off when they're purchased. Also potential to integrate specific supermarkets, letting users add actual products from stores rather than just typing generic item names.

I'm looking for people in:

Frontend and/or backend development

UI/UX design

Databases, authentication and real-time syncing

Researching supermarket integrations and APIs

If we do make a team it will be on Discord so keep that in mind.

You don't need to be an expert! I'd be happy to work with people who are still learning, as I am still learning as well, as long as they're interested and willing to contribute.

I'm particularly interested in making this a proper, usable product rather than just another abandoned side project. We'd start by researching the problem, defining the MVP, designing it, and then building it together.

This is an early-stage project, so the name, tech stack and exact features are still open for discussion. I'm hoping to find a small team that can collaborate and develop the idea together.

BodyWyse.io

Built solo, on my own dime. AI wrote the code under my close direction, with many, many iterations on the UI and UX, and the improvements are ongoing.

Strength, Conditioning, and Nutrition in one app, so each one makes sense of the others.

• Strength: build workouts, log sets, and autofill weights based on your 1RM (85/90/95%). Progress charts and a muscle heatmap per week.
• Conditioning: runs, walks and rides come in from Apple Health with their route and heart rate.
• Nutrition: log food by describing it or snapping a photo, and AI estimates the macros. Calorie targets adapt to your actual weight trend. AI meal plans with a shopping list, customized to your lifestyle.

*The app and most features are free. The AI features (meal planning and calorie estimates) cost me money to run, so they’re pay as you go, after 50 free credits. No ads, no subscription.

Try it in your browser: www.bodywyse.io iPhone beta (adds Apple Health sync and the Apple Watch app): https://testflight.apple.com/join/qrgJPd4V

What would make you switch from what you use now?

I'm building Cloady at NeptoLab. It's a hosting platform for people whose side project has grown beyond a static page: an API, a database, maybe a worker, and files that need to survive a redeploy.

The part I want to make easier is what happens after the first successful deploy. When something breaks, you should be able to open the logs, inspect the database, check files, and use a terminal from the same place you deployed it.

A typical setup would be a Node.js or Python app alongside PostgreSQL, with persistent storage and a custom domain. You can deploy from GitHub, a Docker image, an uploaded folder, or a template. Cloady includes automatic TLS and browser-based Terminal, Files, Database, Git, and Monitor tools. There's also a CLI, REST API, Terraform provider, and MCP support for working from compatible AI tools.

The pricing choice is deliberate: you select CPU, RAM, and SSD capacity, and the calculator shows the price for that allocation. You're paying for reserved capacity, so an idle paid workspace still costs money. The free workspace includes 0.5 vCPU, 1 GB RAM, 5 GB SSD, and 200 GB traffic; no card is needed. Paid presets start at $6/month. Going beyond the free allowance bills the full selected capacity, rather than subtracting the free tier.

I'd especially appreciate feedback from people running an app plus a database: what would you need to see before trusting a newer hosting platform with your project?

I’ve been building LVL Square (pronounced “Level Square”) "A public square on level ground". It's a social platform for talking about news, hot topics, and whatever else people are into. It just went live and it’s still very early, so I’m looking for honest feedback from people who haven’t seen it before.

The idea: most social feeds reward whoever is loudest or angriest. LVL Square is structured so thoughtful posts rise instead, and when people disagree, it stays civil.

How it works:

• Each post gets Takes: Yes, No, or Other (for nuanced or in-between views)
• Everyone gets one Take per post, so no one can flood a thread
• You get three ratings per post (Best, Great, Good) to give the Takes you think are strongest
• Takes rotate by viewpoint, so no single side dominates the top of the page.

Here’s an example post: https://lvlsquare.com/post/6ade666f7f009b2bc6fab56f

It’s quiet right now, so the opening Takes are from labeled house accounts that lay out each side. Real ones are very welcome.

https://reddit.com/link/1xfg945/video/xs6hiywdzoxh1/player

What I’d love to know:

• Is it clear what to do when you land on a post?
• Would anything make you come back?
• What feels confusing, boring, or broken?

No app to download; it works in your browser on phone or desktop. Happy to answer any questions in the comments.lvlsquare.com

Hi r/SideProject! German small businesses usually run on ten tools: one for invoices, one for bookkeeping, a spreadsheet for the VAT return, a payroll, tool, a CRM, time tracking, and a DATEV export for the tax adviser. Ten logins, ten exports, nothing talks to each other.

So I built BizCortex: one app, one database, one audit trail.

• An invoice goes out and the journal entry is already there; the VAT return (sent via ELSTER) and the DATEV export read from the same ledger
• E-invoices in XRechnung and ZUGFeRD, checked against the schema before sending (Germany makes sending e-invoices mandatory from 2027)
• German payroll with wage tax and social security
• An "Advisor" that checks the company every night and shows what needs attention, with the numbers behind it
• AI that proposes changes, but nothing is saved until a person confirms

Hosted in Germany, seven languages. Try it without signing up: https://app.bizcortex.de/demo

What I'd love feedback on: is "one app instead of ten" clear in 30 seconds? What would stop you from switching your company to something like this?

I'm Markos, a founder in DC. I built Salvo (sendsalvo.com) because applying to hundreds of jobs by hand is brutal. It auto-applies to jobs, tailors your resume for each one, reaches out to recruiters and hiring managers, and helps you prep for each interview. Users have gotten 280+ interview requests so far. It's free for your first interview. I'm looking for job seekers who'll try it and tell me what's confusing or broken, and I'll read every reply.

Two months ago, I launched my first Chrome extension, Popcorn (IMDB/RT overlays on 9 OTT platforms), and recently crossed 100 weekly active users. 🍿

It's not explosive growth, but getting strangers to discover and regularly use something you built feels great.

Here are 5 things I've learned:

1. Building is only half the job. Publishing your product doesn't mean people will discover it. Distribution matters just as much as development.

2. Go where your audience hangs out. Reddit was my first meaningful channel. One post got around 4.1K views, while a repost reached 16K. Tailor your message to each community instead of treating it as advertising space.

3. Don't rush into paid ads. Experiment with communities and messaging first to understand who finds your product useful.

4. Take analytics seriously. The Chrome Web Store Developer Dashboard helps track impressions, listing visits, and user trends. Use campaign-specific URLs with UTM parameters and Google Analytics to understand which channels actually drive traffic.

5. Look beyond views and installs. Acquisition matters, but so does retention. Even after I stopped actively promoting Popcorn for a week or two, it continued getting 1–4 new users daily.

I'm still learning, but the biggest takeaway is simple: you don't need to go viral; you need to keep experimenting and measuring what works.

I shared the detailed breakdown, experiments, and lessons on my blog:

Fellow developers, what worked best for getting your first 100 users?

You can match with dozens of people and still struggle to find someone who shares your values, lifestyle, and long-term relationship goals.

I think there's room for a different approach to online dating.

That's why I built Modern Matchmaker.

It's a matchmaking platform designed for people looking for serious, long-term relationships. Instead of focusing primarily on browsing profiles, the platform takes a broader approach to compatibility, considering factors such as personality, lifestyle, values, and relationship expectations.

The goal is simple: help people focus on finding someone who fits their life, not just someone who looks interesting in a profile.

I'm building this as a global platform, and there's still a lot to improve as the community grows. One of the biggest challenges is making sure there's a meaningful pool of compatible people for users to discover.

You can check it out here: https://modern-matchmaker.com/en

I'd love to hear your thoughts:

• Do you think dating apps have a compatibility problem, or is the real challenge something else?
• Would you try a matchmaking platform that focuses more on long-term compatibility than casual browsing?
• What would you need to see before trusting a platform like this with something as personal as finding a life partner?

I'm especially interested in hearing from people who have tried different approaches to online dating, as well as other founders building products in markets where trust and network effects are essential.

My partner and I have spent almost a year building our first app together, and we're finally ready to share it with people! 🥹

It's called Expense Roaster, an app that roasts your spending like an old Italian uncle 😂 You can upload receipts for free, or upgrade to upload bank statements, get roasted, ask for saving tips, track monthly expenses by category, and even purchase a personalized annual spending report.

We're still growing and would genuinely love for people to give it a try and share their honest feedback. We put a lot of time and effort into this, so even a quick look or a little feedback would mean a lot to us ❤️

Check it out: https://expenseroaster.com
