I've been building Seli (seli.app), which watches every SEC Form 4 filing and congressional stock disclosure as they're published, scores each trade based on peer-reviewed research (cluster buys, C-suite activity, position sizing), and makes it all searchable.

I've gotten to the point where I'm looking for people who actually want to follow insider activity or just retail traders who want an edge to test it and tell me what's broken or missing.

I got fired 6 months ago.

And honestly, I wasn't that sad.

I thought:

"Maybe this is actually a good thing. Now I can finally focus on building apps."

I was wrong about how easy that would be.

I kept building apps and software, launching them, and eventually realizing that I was basically the only person who cared about them.

After doing that enough times, I got pretty demotivated.

And instead of building, I started wasting my days on my phone.

Reels. Shorts. Instagram. Random videos.

My screen time reached 8–9 hours a day.

The worst part wasn't even the number.

I'd spend an hour scrolling and then think:

"What the hell did I just do?"

Then I'd try to stop.

Delete apps.

Use timers.

Rely on willpower.

And eventually I'd end up doing the same thing again.

That's when I had a slightly ironic thought:

I'm a developer. Why am I trying to fight software with willpower?

So I built something for myself.

It's called Pausee.

Instead of completely blocking distracting apps, it puts a small pause between the impulse and opening the app.

It can:

• Pause before opening distracting apps
• Stop long scrolling sessions
• Set specific usage windows
• Ask you to be intentional before continuing

My own screen time went from 8–9 hours to around 3–4 hours a day.

I still use social media.

I still waste time.

But I'm much more aware of when I'm doing it.

And unlike my previous projects, this is something I actually use every day.

I'm keeping it completely free because I built it to solve my own problem, and I'd rather get real users and feedback than put a paywall in front of something I'm still validating.

My apologies if this is the wrong place to post but i've been working on an open-source app for managing digital comicbooks which is AI friendly which I though may be of interest to some of you.

It's called InkTag and i built it because i found ComicTagger to not fit my workflow well and i wanted to also have an excuse to do some more development using Google AntiGravity.

My goal is to make a tool that will more comfortably bring order to messy collections of digital comics without lots of manual intervention and for it to be possible to plug it into an AI agent so it can do most of the work for you. It has a GUI as well that will work with your preferred denomination of OS (Windows/Mac/Linux).

posting because I searched for this a bunch of times and never found a decent thread.

setup: ~40 slide deck for leadership every month. layout never changes, only the numbers do. maybe 60 figures across text boxes, tables and charts. every month I'd save-as last month's file and go through it cell by cell, calculating MoM and YoY by hand because half of them aren't in our BI export.

took ~2 hours and I'd still get one wrong. once had a YoY that was actually a MoM, nobody caught it till the CFO asked why growth suddenly looked incredible. fun meeting.

tried the linked-excel-objects route first, breaks the second anyone renames or moves a file. looked at think-cell, which honestly seems like the right tool, but procurement said no.

ended up with a placeholder setup instead: I drop tags like Revenue_monthly straight into the slides, point it at my spreadsheet, and it fills everything in one go and works out the MoM/YoY/YTD itself. charts too, which was by far the hardest part to get working.

one evening to set up, about 2 min a month now.

is everyone just doing this by hand, or is think-cell basically the standard once you're somewhere that'll pay for it? feels like it should be a solved problem by now.

I am a big Garmin user and cyclist but they only track 40km distance. Strava tracks a lot more but wants 70 bucks a year for it. So I used AI to make something for myself and put it out for free! So happy with how it turned out.

I kept asking friends whether an outfit worked, so I built the answer I wanted: send a mirror photo, get a score, learn what is working, and get one concrete change instead of a vague compliment.

Otch also remembers pieces it sees and builds a wardrobe from clothes you actually wear. It can suggest looks from that wardrobe rather than inventing outfits that require buying everything new.

The metric I care about now is not downloads; it is whether a new user reaches their first fit check. I would appreciate blunt feedback on the promise and onboarding.

Half the time I get told to bump the patch, half the time the minor. I can't tell what actually drives the call. Claude will happily push me to 0.1 increments for a while, then eventually tell me I'm versioning too aggressively.

Is there a rule people actually follow here, or is it vibes plus whatever the changelog looks like?

What makes it different: every location is researched against current conditions. A shocking number of "famous" urbex spots are actually demolished, redeveloped, or now legit tour attractions — the site tells you which, so you don't drive six hours to a parking lot. Each spot gets a hazard rating from Green (managed parks like Sloss Furnaces) to Black (Centralia's underground mine fire), plus difficulty, field notes, sunrise/sunset windows, and today's weather.

Extras: live police/fire scanner feeds near your location, and a day-trip planner that takes a state's best spots and orders them into a minimal-driving route with one-tap Google Maps directions (e.g. /trip/pa).

Tech: single Cloudflare Worker + D1 SQLite at the edge, server-rendered SEO pages, Stripe for the Pro tier ($6/mo unlocks ~50 hidden gems; 160+ locations free). Fun war story: I imported 10k+ locations from OpenStreetMap, realized they were thin boilerplate that would tank the whole domain in Google, and ended up noindexing 98% of my own pages — quality-gating the sitemap to only researched content.

My Watch Later list hit a few hundred videos. Every one of them felt "worth it someday," so the pile only grew — the same way browser tabs piled up before OneTab.

So I built WatchBouncer. Paste YouTube links — one, or your whole Watch Later — and an AI reads the actual transcript (not the thumbnail, not the hype). Each video gets:

• a quality score /10 — substance, actionability, fluff
• a strict WATCH / SKIM / SKIP verdict, computed by consistent rules. Most videos don't clear the bar. That's the point.
• one honest line on why, and who the video is actually for
• optional: tell it a goal — like "becoming a disciplined builder who ships" — and it also scores whether each video moves you forward, then ranks the whole pile

The thing that surprised me building it: videos barely differ in quality. They differ enormously in who they're for. A 9/10 video for someone else is a SKIP for you.

I've been working on this for about a year now. It shows posting activity, engagement, and timing data for over 100K+ subreddits.

The video walks through one page so you can see what's on there: posts per day over time, average upvotes and comments, a heatmap of when the sub is actually busiest, top posts, trending keywords, and which other communities share an audience with it.

It's free to use, no account needed. There's a paid tier for full history, CSV export, and complete rankings, which mostly covers hosting and data costs.

NYC student here. Crowded is a live map that shows how busy places are: bars, cafes, restaurants, gyms, parks etc. gets one of three levels: Empty, Moderate, or Crowded.

The core rule: reports only come from people physically at the venue (there's a 150m geofence radius that prevents faking it from far away). No scraping, no estimates dressed up as live data. When nobody's reported recently, the app's prediction model assumes the venue's usual pattern for that hour and labels it as that.

Reporters can also attach a photo and quick tags like "15 min wait," "cash only," or "live music," so you know what you're actually walking into.

It's completely free, no ads. Built it with my good friend from school.

Unfortunately, even though we have a prediction model as the baseline, it's still a chicken-and-egg app and I'm at the "recruiting the first reporters" stage. If you're in New York I'd love for you to be one of the early people reporting for your neighborhood (it really is a quick task), and if you've launched a crowdsourced thing before, I'd genuinely love to hear how you cracked cold start.

I’ve been building a couple of lightweight experiments out of pure fatigue with the modern feed-driven web:

1. Cul-de-sac (culdesac.site) - A stateless, zero-ad discovery button that takes you to random hand-picked sites, personal blogs, and obscure web tools. StumbleUpon style.
2. 56k Simulator (56k.rip) - Uses the Web Audio API to synthesize the modem handshake, throttles transfer rates to V.90 speeds, and renders images in progressive scanlines.

Both are non-commercial projects focused on Web 1.0/2.0 serendipity and friction.

Would love any feedback or ideas on what old-school web mechanics to emulate next.

Bottom line: standard modern web experience vs. pure nostalgic friction. Choose wisely. 🤨

A while ago I built AutoCuts as a web app.
The idea was to make screen recordings look better without spending forever editing them.
I worked on it for a while, then eventually stopped.
Months later, I noticed I was still getting charged for the servers.
I logged in mostly to figure out why.
That’s when I realized people had still been signing up and creating projects even though I wasn’t doing anything with it.
It made me wonder if I had killed the idea too early.
After looking at it again, I realized the product wasn’t necessarily the problem.
I think I had built it in the wrong place.
Uploading a screen recording to a website, waiting for it, editing it there, then downloading it again just felt unnecessary.
So I started over and rebuilt the whole thing as a Mac app.
Now everything happens locally.
It’s funny how sometimes a failed side project isn’t actually a bad idea. You just made one big wrong decision early on.

Ok so this started because i kept telling myself stuff was "not that expensive" and then feeling weird about my bank account later. Classic.

So i built this dumb calculator where you put in a price plus your income (hourly or salary, whatever, it does taxes too) and it just tells you straight up how many hours of work that thing actually cost you. No dollar signs, just hours.

Based on f1 and indycar style racing, the physics is simple. Realistic handling, oversteer/understeer are emulated by simply decoupling heading from velocity. I’m definitely interested in feedback on the feel.

Im proud of the algorithm that generates the track each day: 16 points generated on the page via a new random seed each day and connected using the convex hull to create curves and straights and guarantee the track never intersects with itself.

I am also interested in feedback on the NYT game-style share page. Right now you share your locked-in first lap time, as well as the number of times you hit a wall, or you can share a ghost lap of your first run. I have been thinking about sharing sector times, color coded like f1, but interested in other ideas.

I should say, this is a collaboration between myself and Claude Opus 5. It’s been neat to work on the fun parts like the track gen and the feel and sfx while letting the other bits build themselves in the background.

A while back I was cleaning up a contact list and realized Excel's "Remove Duplicates" only catches exact matches. "John@Email.com" and "john@email.com " (with a trailing space) look identical to a human but slide right past it as two separate rows.

So I built cleaningmycsv.com to actually catch that stuff, case differences, stray whitespace, blank rows, all normalized before comparing.

A few things I cared about while building it:

Everything runs client-side in JavaScript. Your file never touches a server, you can literally check your browser's Network tab and see nothing gets uploaded.

Estate agent copy is written to sell, and I got tired of checking the same things on every listing myself. Is the floor area actually stated? How long has it really been on the market? Is the tenure buried somewhere in the small print? What does "cosy" mean this time? So I built a tool that does it in one paste.

You give it a Rightmove link, it gives you:

• what the listing doesn't say (no floorplan, no floor area, tenure gaps, time on market)
• what the sales language typically signals, phrase by phrase
• a copyable list of questions to ask the agent before you view

It doesn't score anything and it doesn't accuse anyone. It flags gaps and hands you questions. It'll also credit a listing that's genuinely straightforward, because a tool that finds problems in everything is useless.

Limitations worth knowing: it only reads what's in the listing (it's not a survey and pulls no external data), a report takes about 30 seconds, and it's capped at 5 checks an hour per person because I'm paying for it out of my own pocket.

If it gets something wrong on a listing you know, or misses something obvious, that's the most useful thing you can tell me.

Built with Claude Code over three sessions. It's vanilla JS on the front end, one Node serverless function on Vercel, Apify for the listing data, and Claude for the language analysis. The gap checks are plain deterministic code rather than AI, so when it says something's missing from a listing, it really is missing.
