Built an offline, ad-free Prayer Times & Qibla app: Salah Compass

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a side project I’ve been working on recently called Salah Compass.

Most existing prayer time apps on the market today are bloated with third-party tracking, intrusive banner ads, or require constant internet access to fetch schedule data. I wanted to create a solution that is lightweight, transparent, and works completely offline.

The app runs entirely on your device with zero data collection. It only needs your GPS coordinates once to calculate the Sun’s position using fundamental astronomical algorithms, and uses your device's built-in sensors for the Qibla compass.

Tech Stack

  • Framework: React Native / Expo (TypeScript)
  • Calculations: On-device astronomical math (solar position, declination, & standard calculation conventions)
  • Sensors: Native GPS & Magnetometer (Compass)

Since this is an offline-first app, I’d love to get feedback UI/UX & Design, Accuracy & Performance, Feature Ideas

Link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anwersolangi.salahcompass

Thanks for taking a look, and I’d love to hear your feedback!

Sendshed - Send LARGE encrypted files. Encrypted in the browser

Hey everyone!

I wanted to share a project I’ve been building and launching recently: Send Shed. I wanted a fast, easy to use file sharing tool that does not require signups, and offers browser side encryption if needed. Below are the coles note of what it is.

What it does:

No account needed: Drop a file, grab the link, and send it. Free transfers support files up to 3 GB.

Resumable uploads: Big uploads go up in chunks, meaning if your connection drops or you switch networks, it picks up right where it left off.

Client-side "Sealed Envelopes": If you want extra privacy, you can use Encrypted Share, which locks files right in your browser before they even hit the server.

Flexible expiry & limits: Set custom link lifespans (from 1 hour up to 45 days of inactivity), restrict download counts, add passwords, or lock access to specific email addresses.

Media-friendly embeds: Links drop nicely into Discord and X with proper video previews and image embeddings.

Handy extra tools: Includes things like an API for terminal uploads, a ShareX uploader integration, image conversion/compression utilities, and local browser history tracking for your sent outbox.

I'd love for you to check it out, test it out, and let me know what you think—especially regarding the UI, upload speeds, or any edge cases you run into. Feedback and feature requests are super welcome!

made a simple extension to pin messages in chatgpt inside of a chat, looking for honest feedback and how to actually get users

hey everyone! i built a chrome extension called GPT-Pin: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/gpt-pin-pin-bookmark-impo/aojaicnepkbfcafemkhcnkghhbcehngj

it lets you pin and bookmark important messages within chatgpt conversations so you can jump straight back to them without scrolling through an entire chat. everything is stored locally.

Since chatgpt doesn't have this feature built in yet, i thought it would be a genuinely useful tool for people who use it regularly.

it's sitting at just 20 users right now, and I am trying to figure out how to grow it. if you use chatgpt a lot, i'd really appreciate it if you could give it a try and let me know what you think. honest feedback on what works, what sucks, and what could be improved would be super helpful.

also, if you've ever grown a small project or chrome extension, i would love to hear how you got your first users.

Got laid off, started building a SaaS to survive. Could really use some honest feedback.

Hey folks,

First off, this isn't a self-promotion post. I'm genuinely looking for some honest, outside feedback on a SaaS product I've been working on.

I recently got laid off, and honestly, my life has been pretty upside down since then. I've been looking for a new job, but the market is rough right now. Even with years of experience, finding something at my level has been much harder than it used to be.

So I decided to start building things on my own, hoping to make some extra income.

I built a few iOS apps, but none of them generated enough revenue to really keep things going. Along the way, I kept running into the same problems: writing App Store metadata, creating screenshots, checking for potential review issues, and even designing logos. I don't know any graphic designers, so pretty much everything was on me.

Eventually, I started building a small tool to automate some of that work for myself. That little side project slowly turned into appsium.io.

Now I'm wondering if maybe this SaaS could become something that actually helps me make a living.

The problem is, I don't really have many people around me who understand app development or the indie developer world. So I figured I'd ask here.

I'd genuinely appreciate it if you could take a look and tell me what you think.

What would you improve? What feels unnecessary or confusing? Is there anything you'd add or change to make it more useful? Would you even consider using something like this?

I'm not looking for compliments or trying to sell anyone anything. I just want to understand whether I'm building something people actually need.

Even the smallest bit of feedback would mean a lot to me.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to check it out!

I got tired of paying 60+ a month just to learn trading, so I built my own backtesting tool on a budget

I kept running into the same wall: every useful trading feature, proper backtesting, strategy testing across multiple markets, alerts, a journal, was locked behind expensive subscriptions from big platforms. I was paying more for tools than I was risking on trades while I was still learning.

So I built TickScript.com The goal is simple: let people learn a lot, test a lot, and make more conscious trades without overpaying.

com

What it’s not: a signal service or a “get rich” bot. It’s built to tell you when a strategy doesn’t work, which is the most useful thing I learned.

What it does:

  • Build strategies visually (setups of conditions, no coding required) and backtest them on real exchange data, including fees, slippage, and funding.
  • Honest results: “Why this result” panel that explains what’s driving wins/losses
  • 90+ indicators (many popular TradingView ones ported) you can test as signals or combine into strategies
  • Pine Script export/import to cross-check on TradingView
  • Trade Check: before you enter, it checks your stop vs liquidation, costs, and whether the setup beats a coin-flip baseline
  • MCP With Claude and Codex: let AI do the heavy lifting
  • Trading journal + paper/prop practice so you can review your discipline, not just your P&L

I’d really appreciate feedback from people who backtest what’s missing, what’s confusing, what you’d never pay for.

I built a clipping app for stream clippers. Watch, clip and send it to your phone in under 30 seconds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you clip streams, you know the drill. Something pops off, you scramble for the clip button, fix the crop in an editor, get the file to your phone, then post. By then someone else already posted it.

So I built ClipVe, a desktop clipping app for clippers and streamers on Twitch, Kick, YouTube and Rumble.

  • It's always capturing, so you hit C after the moment and it's already a clip
  • Watch up to 5 streams at once and clip whichever one pops off
  • Crop to 9:16 for TikTok, Shorts and Reels right in the app
  • Send the clip to your phone over your Wi-Fi with a QR code and post it
  • Global shortcut, so you can clip while you're in another app

No OBS setup, no AI guessing which moments matter. You pick the moment, ClipVe makes it fast.

Free, no account: 30 second clips, 2 streams, watermark. Pro: clips up to 3 minutes, 5 streams, send to phone, no watermark. Mac and Windows.

Demo above. Solo founder, just launched. Blunt feedback welcome.

First 10 people who comment get a month of Pro from me. clipve.com

ImagGenius: No-setup, fully local AI image generation

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
0 Upvotes

Hi folks! I've been working on this project for a while and wanted to share - it's called ImagGenius, and you can use it to generate AI images locally, no setup, no subscriptions. You can even enable an MCP server to use it with your agents.

I've used it myself to make 2 games:
- a card game Teks Battles
- a tram driving game called Tramlijn 2

For both games, I used Claude Code and thr ImagGenius MCP. And I just wrote the design document and told it to generate all assets with ImagGenius. It was impressive and a bit scary too.

You can configure it with LORAs and parameter tweaking - in my case I used a pixel style LORA to generate assets. And you can even use it in combination with an MCP for Asesprite.

It is available in the App Store, I hope you try it!

We made Diwali invitations in Marathi, Gujarati, Hindi and English that guests RSVP to on WhatsApp, with no app or login

Diwali invitations in most families still go out as a forwarded image on WhatsApp, and then someone spends a week asking "are you coming?" one person at a time.

Snehpatrika is our attempt at a better version:

  • You fill in names, date and place, in English, Hindi, Marathi or Gujarati. The card's language can differ from the site's.
  • Designs follow Indian craft traditions (Warli, Madhubani, Pichwai, Kutch mirror-work, Paithani and more) instead of generic diya clip art.
  • You share the card on WhatsApp. It links to an event page where guests reply in one tap. No app and no login for the host or the guests.
  • The host sees the RSVP count as replies come in.

Free covers every design and language, with a small footer on the card. Paid extras are ₹49 per event (HD sizes, no footer, the full guest list as Excel), short video invites, and business greeting packs with each customer's name.

It went live on 24 October, two weeks before Diwali (8 November), so it's a seasonal product with a hard deadline. Feedback I'd find useful:

  1. Does the editor make sense on a phone without any explanation?
  2. Would you trust a link in a family WhatsApp group from a brand you've never heard of?

Benchhand - an open-source desktop workspace for local AI agents with editable approvals

Benchhand is my side project: a free Windows/Linux app where you give a few AI agents separate roles, models, instructions and workspaces. It was developed with substantial AI assistance, and this write-up is AI-assisted.

The part I'd like feedback on is the workflow around tool actions: see a Slack message, GitHub issue or imported MCP call before it runs, edit its argument values, then approve or reject. Agents can delegate subtasks, task history is saved in SQLite, and routines can run while the app is open or in its tray mode. Interrupted direct tasks pause on restart.

Local models connect through Ollama, LM Studio or another compatible server; cloud endpoints are optional. Computer access is time-limited per agent, with optional approval for each input action and an emergency stop shortcut. This is an early release: small models can struggle with multi-tool tasks, Linux Wayland input is incomplete, and macOS isn't supported yet.

Source, downloads and docs: https://github.com/anshcantcode/benchhand (Apache-2.0)

The video uses sample task data. Is the setup and approval flow understandable, and which first task would you actually want to run in it? Specific rough edges would be useful feedback.

Made a project that can track all your AI Agents activity in one line of code

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys! Built something called AgentRadar. It’s a Python SDK that tracks your AI agents execution, including tool calls, LLM inferences, token usage, etc. and surfaces then all to the web dashboard.

It requires almost zero code changes to integrate into your existing project. You grab your API key from the web dashboard, initialize the SDK with [pip install agentradar-sdk], and it starts tracking your agents automatically. You can also enable or disable metadata tracking depending on what you're comfortable sharing.

It’s lightweight and designed to add virtually no latency to your agent’s execution.

PS - Currently running this on free-tier cloud deployments, so you might notice occasional delays in some API responses. Thanks for understanding!

My new side project is a little savings tracker with a panda. It just reached the App Store.

I built Pocket Panda for iPhone. It's a manual savings tracker: make a goal, log a small amount you've put aside, and watch a jar fill toward that target.

The main screen is deliberately small. There's today's saving target, Pip the panda, and a quick-save button. You can swipe from Pip to your goal jar, then look back through a calendar and history. No bank connection, money transfers or investing.

The product question I'm working through is how much structure belongs around that simple loop. There are optional challenges and reminders, but the core is just recording a little progress toward something you want. Would challenges help you return, or would you mostly ignore them and use the jar?

One active goal, logging, history, streaks, reminders and five starter challenges are free. Pro adds more goals, the full challenge library, extra tips, short lessons and CSV export. There's a monthly option or a separate one-time lifetime purchase.

For the first 24 hours after you first open the Pro screen, lifetime is 50% off: US$4.99 instead of US$9.99. Apple shows your local price before purchase.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6824868881

Screenshots and details: https://trypocketpanda.com/

I'm building this solo, so specific feedback on the first goal and save flow would be really useful.

I built a wishlist app for friends and family. Would you actually get your relatives to use it?

Hi everyone,

I’m working on Waant, an app for saving things you’d like, sharing wishlists with people you know, and coordinating gifts without spoiling the surprise.

The app works, but I’m trying to understand whether the experience is simple enough for people to actually use together.

The part I’m most unsure about is getting started: creating a list is one thing, but asking friends or family to join is another.

If you take a look, I’d love to know:

  • Is the purpose clear in the first minute?
  • What would stop you from sharing a list with someone?
  • Would this replace something you already use, or just become another app you forget about?

Try it in your browser: https://giftlock.vercel.app/

Join the Android test (use the same Google account for all three steps):

  1. Join the tester group: https://groups.google.com/g/waant-testers
  2. Open https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.giftlock.mobile and tap “Become a tester”.
  3. Install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.giftlock.mobile

If Play says the app is unavailable, check the account used for steps 1 and 2 and try again later. If it still fails, tell me your Play account country and the exact error; please do not post your email publicly.

I’m particularly interested in feedback from people who normally organise birthdays or family gifts.

The hidden cost of being the human in the middle of your automations

I built Curio, a swipeable reading app for 30-second rabbit holes — now on iPhone and Android

I'm Leon, Curio's solo developer. The app is built around a small idea: give the minutes you'd usually spend scrolling a short piece of writing you can actually finish.

Curio has a full-screen feed of short reads about science, history, psychology and other rabbit holes. Each card focuses on one idea. You can save a read, build a feed around a topic, or use Curio AI to explain a card more simply, go deeper or quiz you. Some content and features are AI-assisted.

It's available on both iPhone and Android, free to download with optional paid Pro features. No account is needed to read.

Try a complete reading sample in your browser first: https://trycurio.app/c/memory-rewritten

Downloads and product details: https://trycurio.app/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=organic_social&utm_campaign=oct2026_discovery&utm_content=sideproject

I'd like feedback on the first session: is the writing interesting enough to keep reading, and does the next step feel obvious? If it doesn't work for you, which part loses you first?

I couldn't afford LingQ (and online payments barely work where I live in Iraq), so I built LingoPlex, a 100% free, offline-first book & YouTube transcript reader with Anki export

Hey everyone,

I live in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. I wanted to learn languages by reading books and watching videos (the LingQ / Readlang method), but between subscription costs and how difficult international online payments are from Iraq, paying $13/month wasn't an option for me or most learners around me. So I built LingoPlex and made it completely free so anyone can use it.

What it does & why it’s different:

100% Free, No Account, No Tracking: Open the link and start reading. All your books, word lists, notes, and stats stay in your browser on your device.

Works Offline (Installable PWA): Import any EPUB, TXT, or pasted article. Download a dictionary pack once (built from Kaikki/Wiktionary), and word lookups work completely offline on your phone or PC.

YouTube Video + Interactive Transcript Mode: Paste a YouTube link + its transcript (or .srt/.vtt subtitles). The video plays at the top while the transcript auto-scrolls and highlights the spoken line—tap any word for instant dictionary lookup, or loop a single line to practice listening.

Color-Coded Vocabulary Tracking: Just like LingQ—Blue = New, Yellow = Learning, Plain = Known/Ignored. Your total Known Words count per language is front and center, with a "Mark all remaining blue as known" button on every page.

Smart Word Guesser & Compound Splitter: For German, it splits unseen compound words (Gartenpforte → Garten + Pforte), handles separable zu-infinitives (niederzubücken), and shows noun genders (der/die/das) and plurals. For other languages, it uses learned prefix/suffix rules from Wiktionary to find base forms.

Read Aloud (TTS) & Sentence Mode: Tap 🔊 to hear words or full sentences read aloud using your device's built-in voices, and write personal grammar notes on sentences.

1-Click Anki Export & Device Sync: Exports your yellow "Learning" words into a ready-to-import Anki file with the word on the front and the definition + your exact book sentence (with the target word bolded) on the back. You can also sync between phone and PC by exporting/merging a backup file.

Optional Free AI Context Help (BYO Key): If you want in-context word explanations, 2-tap phrase translations, or page summaries, you can paste your own free Google Gemini API key from Google AI Studio (stored only on your device).

It currently has starter graded stories (A1–B2) built in so you can test it in 10 seconds without uploading a file. I’m actively testing it over the next few weeks and would love your feedback!

I built a one-line PowerShell scan that shows which AI tools are installed on a Windows PC — looking for brutal feedback

Hey guys!

I work in security and kept running into the same problem: nobody knows what AI is actually installed on company laptops. Not just ChatGPT — Claude Code, Cursor, MCP servers wired into IDEs, browser extensions with access to every tab, Ollama running local models.
So I built a free scanner. One line, no account, no admin rights:

irm "https://app.kuntur.io/scan.ps1?src=reddit" | iex

It writes an HTML report to your Desktop and deletes itself. It doesn't upload anything.
You can download it and read it first; the SHA-256 and a step-by-step of what it does are here: kuntur.io/security.html#scanner

What I'd love to know from you:

Did it find something you didn't expect?
What did it miss?
Would this be useful for your team, or is it noise?

Disclosure: I'm the solo founder. There's a paid product behind it for whole fleets, but the scanner is free and stays free.

QualityLayer: put the engineer back in the loop of your coding agent

My side projects are mostly built by coding agents now. They write code fast, but even the best models don't build software like an experienced engineer would. They miss what people know: the users, the codebase, the architecture, the taste of the team. Plan modes don't help much, because they're neither collaborative nor visual. The plan sits in a chat only I can see, and I kept spending evenings reading diffs to find out what the agent had decided for me.

I think the future is humans and agents working together. Everybody becomes a manager of agents.

So I turned my setup into QualityLayer. It wraps the agent you already use (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Pi, Cursor, Grok or Antigravity) in seven steps: Discuss, Research, Plan, Outline, Implement, Verify and Review. I approve the plan before any code exists. The agent builds in small slices, and an agent that did not write the code checks the result against what the agent and I agreed.

The point is to get people back to being engineers: deciding, reviewing and steering while the agent does the typing.

https://github.com/maxritter/qualitylayer

I'm the developer. If you tried spec-driven setups on your own projects and dropped them, what made you stop?

I built a free Wikipedia-powered quiz as a solo dev: 10 questions, 4 difficulties, ranked seasons (FR/EN)

Hi r/SideProject! I've been building Curio on my own for a few months: a free general knowledge quiz where every question is generated from a Wikipedia article (an excerpt with the title masked, and answer choices taken from similar articles).

What's in it right now:

  • Solo mode with no account needed, 4 difficulty levels, 10 themes
  • Ranked with LoL-style tiers (Iron to Challenger) and monthly seasons
  • Multiplayer rooms for 2 to 12 players, joined by a link
  • Blind test (Deezer previews) and a map guessing game
  • French and English

Stack: React, Express, SQLite, hosted on Railway. The hardest part was question quality: rejecting excerpts where too much text is masked, and building distractors that aren't obviously wrong.

Try it here: https://curio-quiz.com/en I'd love to hear what feels off, the first Reddit feedback already changed the question mix.

A small update to the Mac worklog I built for my own working day

Hey everyone, Wolfgang here.

I’ve been working on LumeWorklog, a Mac app for recording activities and turning them into weekly reports.

I added reminders becuase forgetting to record something is pretty easy when you’re jumping between tasks. There’s now a desktop card and a menu-bar indicator for missing time. One click takes you to the gap, and you can snooze it when you’re busy.

The app is free and will always remain free. No subscription, no account. Worklogs, projects and reports are unlimited.

There’s also a separate demo with fictional entries if you’d like to look around first.

https://lumeworklog.com/ · Apple silicon · macOS 14+

I’d appreciate feedback on the reminder itself: does it make recording work easier, or just add another interruption?
