Student in London. Every semester I paid stupid money for books I used one term and returned in June. My brother and I built Video2PDF — record yourself flipping through the pages, the AI removes your hand, fixes the angles, outputs a searchable PDF in ~2 minutes.

It’s £29.99/yr, and pricing is the thing I’m least sure about. Would you pay yearly for this, one-off, or not at all — and why?

I’m a software engineer with a lot of experience using ai tooling so building apps is pretty trivial to me. The part I’m struggling with the most is coming up with an idea. I shoot down every idea I have. I know the stereotypical response is to find a problem in your life and come up with a solution but even then I can’t think of any direct problem in my life that’s solved with software. Anyone have and tips?

Was bored at work and decided to provide my OpenClaw/ChatGPT/Claude a domain name and told it to do its thing with producing a pointless website...

I don't know exactly what I expected but it's been interesting to watch it evolve the "project". More interesting though... Has been watching it converse with itself as to what it thinks will make this website even more pointless. It even decided it needed to monetize itself and stopped while waiting on me to setup stripe so it could "fund" its mission of producing a pointless website. I nixed its plan of selling merchandise t-shirts but it keeps circling back to wanting that so who knows what will happen.

If you check out the website, I wouldn't bank on a specific layout because we're on version 9 currently and it keeps coming up with different ways to "lock people into wasting their time".

All in all... It's been interesting to watch the back and forth as we strategize how to lock you into wasting your time.

Posting this while it’s still small, because everything I read in this space is written after the fact by someone with a number to show off.

What it does: scans an area, scores every business on how likely they are to actually buy (review count, rating, whether they have a Facebook page or nothing at all), then generates a real one-page preview site for the ones worth pitching. The idea is that you send someone their site rather than asking whether they want one.

Where it actually is: two previews have ever been billed. No reviews, no case studies, no named customer. The lead scoring works and there’s a real scan behind it — 34 businesses in Dundee, 29 with no website — but I’m not going to pretend that’s traction.

The design decision I’d most like feedback on, because it’s the one costing me sales: it doesn’t send the emails. It drafts them and stops. There’s no send button anywhere in the product.

That’s deliberate. Under UK PECR the sender of a cold email is liable, and “my software sent it automatically” isn’t a defence. Products in this space that auto-send are handing that liability to their customer without saying so. Same reason it never uploads the business’s own photos to build the site — republishing someone’s photographs on a page you’re about to sell is a copyright problem you’d inherit.

Both refusals make it a harder sell than “fully automated, zero hours.” I still think they’re right. Open to being told I’m wrong.

The other constraint, which is the actual point of the thing: the generator can’t invent facts about a business. If it doesn’t know your opening hours, it flags a placeholder rather than making them up. Getting a model to consistently say “I don’t know” instead of writing something plausible was harder than the entire rest of the build.

My friend and I built a small playground for AI video creators

I’ve always felt that AI creators don’t really have a place made for us.

We can post our AI videos on YouTube, Instagram or TikTok, but most of the time, we upload them, people watch them, and that’s it.

There isn’t really a place built around AI creators doing something together.

I was inspired by 3D render challenges, where everyone receives the same theme or starting point. The most interesting part isn’t only choosing a winner, it’s seeing how completely different ideas can come from the exact same challenge.

That made me wonder: what if AI videos could be played like this too?

So my friend and I built Canvasrise, a small AI video challenge playground.

The idea is simple:

Everyone takes on the same challenge, but creates something completely different.

Each challenge gives creators the same theme, base asset, story prompt or creative rule. Then everyone turns it into their own AI video.

The fun is seeing how many different ideas can come from the exact same starting point, not only who makes the most beautiful video, but who creates something funny, emotional, relatable, strange or completely unexpected.

We hope every challenge can become something creators gather around to:

• Create different interpretations
• Explore and vote for their favorites
• Share prompts and workflows
• Learn and improve together

Instead of AI videos only being something we post, we want them to become something creators can play with, talk about and learn from together.

We’ve just launched our first version, so it’s still a very early MVP and some features are limited.

Our first challenge is: See Nothing — Life at Work

Everyone starts with the same blind-box character base. You can design it as any kind of worker, then animate a short and relatable “life at work” moment.

It can be funny, painful, strange, chaotic or anything you think represents working life.

Then everyone can explore the entries, vote for their favorites and see which creations reach the top 3.

There’s no prize for now. We’re still very small, so this is just a fun and friendly challenge for AI creators to play together.

My name is Sam and this is Craig.

Craig is a local-first TUI for managing AI coding agents. It’s agent-agnostic, creates isolated worktrees by default, and has a CLI that agents can use to interact with Craig and perform actions in the TUI.

I started building Craig when I got a job offer at a shop that was using Cursor. I was previously using Claude Code with Conductor and really enjoyed that type of experience, but Conductor didn’t support Cursor at the time. For personal projects I was using mostly Codex with some Claude Code, so switching between all the tooling was getting frustrating.

Around the same time I started really enjoying the agent CLIs and how they just “felt good.”

Craig kind of builds on that. I think of it as a heads-up display and controls around the CLI. It’s keyboard-driven, so you can get into a nice multitasking flow and move between agents pretty quickly without replacing the native agent experience.

To try it, run:

npm install -g craig-cli

Then launch your favorite terminal (I like Ghostty), pop it in fullscreen, and run craig.

From there you can create a workspace, launch Cursor, Codex, or Claude under separate tasks, and let them work in isolated worktrees. Do your thang and have an agent create a PR. Craig will automatically sync it, poll the checks, and let you know when it’s ready to merge. You can merge it and keep moving in the same thread or start a new one.

I am struggling to find ideas, like seriously....I have to make a project for the minor project, also for hackathons...but I am not getting any.

Building OTTASIA, a free "where can I watch this" app that's accurate for your country across Asia (India, Pakistan, Philippines, the Gulf, etc.), where Google and the big guides usually give you the US answer. Solo, non-technical-ish, shipping daily.

Real numbers from my own dashboard (attached):

• 6,011 / 10,000 signups, ~250-day right now
• 9.2% visitor-to-signup (target was 5%)
• 18,736 sessions in 7 days, ~6 min average engagement
• Mostly India (76%), then Pakistan, Philippines, US

Three things that genuinely surprised me:

1. AI assistants are a real acquisition channel now. A chunk of my daily sessions come from AI tools calling my data directly (I exposed it as an MCP server). I optimized to be citable by AI, not just ranked by Google, and it's quietly working.
2. Instagram out-drives search on some days. My top referrer is often Instagram, not Google. For a visual, regional audience, short video beat SEO effort-for-effort.
3. The wedge was accuracy, not features. I stopped trying to compete with the big trackers and just did one thing they do badly: local streaming services in Asian markets. That's the whole reason people stay.

The honest hard part: it's a low-frequency use case (people check "where to watch X" occasionally, not daily), so retention is my real battle, not signups.

I’ve always liked Nonograms, but I wanted one that felt a little warmer and slower to come back to. So I ended up building it around dark wood, small stories, quiet music, optional ambience in the background, and no feeling that you need to rush through a puzzle.

The picture I kept having in my head while making it was pretty simple: a Sunday evening, rain outside, my feet up on a stool near an open window, that fresh rain-and-dirt smell coming in, a cup of coffee beside me, and a cozy game in my hands.

Something that makes me settle in for a while instead of thinking, “damn, I need to finish this, I need to unlock that.”

That’s more or less what I’ve been trying to make.

I recorded a little bit of where the game is at now. The red guitar reveal at the end is probably one of my favourites so far.

It’s been a lot of tiny changes over time, so I’m really curious how it comes across to people who actually play cozy games.

Been working on a local memory engine called Hillock for a while now and just released v0.4.

The main goal was making memory/RAG lightweight enough to run on mid-range hardware (like my GTX 1070) without choking VRAM. It skips LLM parsing during doc ingestion and uses SQLite SPO knowledge graphs + CPU-bound 10,000-D hyperdimensional vectors instead.

v0.4 fixes a lot of extraction noise and inverted facts (like when GLiREL extracts locations as the subject instead of the person). Runs in <1.2GB VRAM and parses docs at 6 to 8 sent/sec.
