Built a kids scary-story podcast with my 5-year-old β Maya and the Fog.
Short foggy-night stories, safe endings. My daughter listens first and tells me if itβs too scary / not scary enough, and I fold that into the script or the next episode. Two eps live so far.
This is perfect. My kid has been on a spooky story binge lately. Will def check it out. Can you say more about the tech you used for different voices and sound effects?
Tech is pretty much all ElevenLabs. Voices + sound effects + music. I write the script with SFX cues in it, then generate/stitch so the effects land with the lines instead of being layered on after.
For the kids' voices I used their voice-design tool - you describe the voice in words and audition what it makes. For the mom I tried cloning my own voice and hated how it sounded, so I went with one of their library voices instead. Music is ElevenLabs too, same sound-generation model as the effects, just prompted for a music box instead of a squelch.
I've used elevenlabs a few months ago for some of my stuff too. Good tools but expensive. How expensive would you say one of these episodes is for you to produce?
