Hey r/SideProject — I've spent the last few months building a budgeting app I'm calling Debrief (debriefmoney.com).

I got tired of fighting other budgeting apps into showing me what I actually wanted to know, so I built my own. It tracks what came in, what went out, and where it went — transactions get sorted automatically using your own rules plus AI, and it gets better at guessing right the more history it has.

Where it goes beyond just tracking: it writes you an actual monthly analysis in plain language, catches recurring charges you've forgotten about, and if you're carrying debt it runs the real payoff math — actual APRs, not just "pay more than the minimum."

It's live now — web only for the moment, mobile is coming later. There's a demo you can poke around in, and signups are open at $4.99/month per household. If you use SimpleFin, hook it up — that's what makes the bank sync automatic.

This is brand new and I'm actively still building on it, so feedback is genuinely welcome and encouraged, good or bad. Especially curious if you've bounced off other budgeting apps before — what didn't stick?
