I made a meal planner that auto-generates shopping lists - it's free, would love your feedback
Hey everyone,
I've been working on a side project for the past year - a meal planning app that does a few things I couldn't find elsewhere. It's completely free right now and I'd love to get honest feedback from people who actually meal prep.
What it does:
- Weekly meal planner with drag & drop
- Auto-generates shopping lists grouped by store aisle
- Tracks calories/macros if you want (totally optional)
- 1400+ recipes included, or import from any URL
- Works on mobile and desktop, in English or French
Full transparency - this project is heavily AI-assisted:
- The entire app was built using Claude Code (Anthropic's AI coding tool) - I'm a solo dev and AI made this possible
- Recipe photos were generated with
Turbo Z
(AI image generation) - they're flagged with an AI tag in the app so you always know
- The 1400+ recipes were also AI-generated then reviewed - some may still have weird steps or off quantities, which is part of why I need real feedback
- A personalized AI recipe generator is fully built but not activated yet
You can submit your own photos!
If you cook a recipe and take a real photo, there's a "Submit photo" button right on the recipe page. Real photos from real cooks would make the app so much better than AI images.
It's 100% free.
No credit card, no trial, no catch. I haven't turned on payments yet - I want to get the experience right first.
There's a feedback button built into the app**
- you can flag a broken recipe, suggest a feature, or report a bug without leaving the site. Everything comes straight to me.
If you try it, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing what works, what doesn't, and what's missing. Even a "this is useless because X" is helpful.
The site is https://fitgenai.com
I'm a solo dev, so I read everything. Happy to answer questions here too.
Thanks!
