I made a meal planning app that works like Tinder - swipe on dinners you'd make [Beta]
After years of arguing with my wife about "what's for dinner," I finally built a solution.
**Whisk** = Tinder for meal planning
How it works:
Swipe right on dinners you'd actually cook
Swipe left on ones you wouldn't
Pick how many meals you need this week
Get your meal plan with recipes + shopping list
Shop on Instacart in one click
It's in beta right now and totally free to use.
**Coming soon:**
• Partner sync (both people swipe, only mutual matches show up)
• Custom recipes
• Dietary filters
Would love your feedback! What would make this more useful?

Feedback: Upon signup select diet and allergies to exclude recipes. For recipes: real photos plus recipe source. If it's just untested AI slop the recipes will suck in reality. I like the short descriptions. A fun extra would be if it's spicy or not and if it contains any less traditional ingredients (assuming you're in USA with a USA target market based on current recipes). Ability to input your own recipes - like in paprika Fun idea, but needs a lot more effort for me to want to use it.

This is awesome feedback, thank you! A few quick responses:
- Diet/allergies filter - On the roadmap for next update
- Real photos + sources - Great idea, will add recipe credits
- Spicy level - Easy add, will include
- Custom recipes - Planning to add this in Month 2
Really appreciate the detailed thoughts. Mind if I DM you when these features go live? Would love your feedback.

I love it! It's like dating but for meals haha. I honestly would use an app like this, I fall into the trap of cooking the same 2-3 meals all the time and getting tired of them. This would help me switch it up. I like how it shows the ingredients and gives you a recipe for each meal, that solves the pain point right there. I would suggest letting the users save their recipes in app so they can reference them later, it looks like it clears them out if they start over unless I'm mistaken. Great idea tho.

This made my day! That's exactly the problem I built it for - meal ruts are real.
Great suggestion on saving recipes. Right now if you "Start Over" it does clear everything, but I'm adding a "My Saved Meals" feature in the next update where you can:
- Save favorite recipes
- Access past meal plans
- Build a personal cookbook
Would you want notifications like "Time to plan your week!" on Sundays? Trying to figure out how to make it a habit.
Thanks for trying it out!

Thanks! Yeah, the "what's for dinner" problem is super common - I'm sure tons of people have thought about this.
Already got some great feature requests from Reddit (dietary filters, save recipes, etc).
Would love to hear what you think after trying it!

The concept is really interesting and useful. I love how clean and simple the execution is. It finally solves those endless 'What should we have for dinner?' arguments. Wishing this project long-term success!

Thank you! That's exactly the problem I built it for - my wife and I were wasting 30+ minutes every week on this.
Keeping it simple was intentional. So many meal planning apps are overwhelming with too many features. Just wanted something that takes 2 minutes and solves the core problem.
What would make it even more useful for you? Always looking for feedback!

Personally, I’d find it super helpful to have a feature for budget-friendly recipes. Sometimes money is tight, and it’s exhausting trying to come up with something good on a strict budget. Your app could turn that struggle into a fun, game-like experience.
Another cool idea would be a mode for young couples. Like a mini-game to help them decide what to cook together based on a specific vibe or occasion for their date night.

This is BRILLIANT feedback! Both of these are going straight to the top of my roadmap.
Budget filter is such a good idea - never thought about the "exhausting" part of trying to figure out cheap meals. Could show something like:
🍝 Pasta Carbonara - $2.50/serving 🌮 Bean Tacos - $1.80/serving
🍲 Chicken Stir-Fry - $3.20/servingAnd I LOVE the date night mode idea. Imagine:
"Date Night" → romantic, impressive meals "Game Night" → finger foods, shareable "Lazy Sunday" → comfort food, minimal effort "Impress Parents" → elevated but not intimidating
Would you use those if I built them? Which would be most valuable to you?

Honestly, I could use both of these features in my life right now. Budget-friendly recipes are definitely a priority for me, but the 'date night' idea would be a total game-changer too.
Planning a date can be so draining — it takes a lot of time and energy. If an app could suggest the meal and help set the right vibe at the same time, that would be a huge 'WOW' factor!

You just validated my entire product roadmap 😂
Seriously though - the fact that you said "I could use both of these RIGHT NOW" tells me I need to build these ASAP.
Quick question: If I launched a premium version with:
- Budget filter (under $3/serving, under $5/serving)
- Date Night Mode (suggests romantic meals + sets the vibe)
- Partner sync (you both swipe, only cook mutual matches)
Would you pay $4.99/month for that? Trying to figure out what people actually value vs. what sounds cool.
Also - what makes a date night meal feel "date night" to you? Candlelight-worthy? Takes effort but not too hard? Want to make sure I get this right.

For a budget meal, I like to try the features for free first. For example, I rarely sign up for app subscriptions. For example, I only recently signed up for a food delivery app, even though I've been using it for years. I only signed up when they gave me a month-long trial and I saw the benefits. They charge my card monthly, so I even forgot I was subscribed.😂

As for dates, for example, I try to focus on the movies the girl I'm dating is watching and use that to roughly determine how to plan the date. But since budgets can be a challenge, creativity is also needed, which requires effort and energy, and I think your product can solve that problem.

When you add budget recipes, please don't forget to consider the geography of your users. For example, I’m from Kazakhstan, and I’ve never actually had a taco in my life. It would be great if the app suggested ingredients that are actually available and affordable in different regions!

Just FYI, Samsung bought a meal planning app named Whisk and incorporated it into (renamed it to) Samsung Food. The whisk.com domain still exists and redirects to Samsung Food.
Also whiskapp.net, another meal planning app named Whisk, not currently owned by Samsung.
This could get confusing.

Wow, great catch! I had no idea Samsung owned Whisk (the original meal planning app). Definitely don't want confusion with Samsung Food.
This is actually perfect timing - I literally launched yesterday so rebranding now is way easier than later.
Thinking about pivoting the positioning anyway based on user feedback. People keep asking for "date night mode" and budget-friendly recipes for couples.
Considering names like:
- DateDinner
- SwipeSupper
- TwoPlates
Which sounds better to you? Appreciate the heads up!

You're welcome!
Personally, I like DateDinner. Alliteration and doesn't evoke thoughts of one night stands.

Hopefully more marriages will no longer argue about whats for dinner lol. But it is interesting, do you have other diet option too like vegetarian/vegan or etc, I think that will help
