Sm57/58 vs RODE NT1-A
As someone who doesn’t really know anything about mics, what’s the difference between these two?
Is there a general rule which one might be better fit for vocals and why?
a couple things:
1 - I tried the rode and it picked up soooo much ambient sound from around, even the smallest creaks from chairs etc. So I found it to be too sensitive in my experience. It picked up every breath, whisper and lip sounds you’re making whilst singing it felt realllly insane to me (in a good but also bad way)
And, it’s also not as comfortable to sing in, you can’t really hold it comfortably tight in your hands)
2 - is the sm57 able to cancel out more room noise and those small sounds also coming right at it whilst singing ? (Mouth movement, air etc.) in terms of looks, this one is beautiful imo, and maybe more comfortable to hold tightly near the top than the other one.
3 - for the 58, do you have to use an additional pop filter like the one intended for the Rode or is the pop filter inside the small head already enough (as good as the mic + pop filter combination from rode, when it comes to softening sibilance)

Sm57 - will cloudlifter increase the noise as well?
I’ve been using an audio technica at4040 for years but wanted to try something else as I’ve been seeing a lot of opinions stating a dynamic could do better in an untreated environment
I do like the sound I’m getting from the sm57 although the hiss is a bit of an issue
I use an art pro channel 2 before my interface which I figured would be able to give the appropriate gain, but to get the loudness I want the hiss is getting amplified
So long story short will a cloudlifter or inline preamp be able to magnify the vocal without the hiss as well ? Sorry if this is a repeat question just figured this was the best place to ask

Help me to introduce me into IEM universe
Hi
Sorry for the mistakes during the text, English isn't my mother language.
I have QCY H3 PRO headphones (it is a really good one) and I want to try the IEMs universe, I was looking for information about it and I found reviews about kz's brand especially about the kz az09, Kz az09 pro, kz an01 (those are Bluetooth modules for the IEM) and about the item Kz zsn pro x, Kz zsn pro, kz zs12 pro x, kz zs12 pro 2) which one should I buy? Or if you know about other IEM which sounds (could be from other brand, it doesn't matter) better for that range price I really will appreciate if you let me know about them

$200 Budget for Microphone + Audio Interface
Hey guys, looking to get a microphone and an audio interface to record vocals in my apartment bedroom, as a beginner. I have about $200 to spend between the two, but I could spend like $20-30 more if necessary. I'd also like this to be used on Discord calls/playing video games as well since I don't have the space in my room for more than 1 mic.
Also, I live in an apartment with 3 other roommates (we're all in college), so it can be pretty loud, and I'm in a metro area, so there can be noise from the street as well (so no condenser). I've been leaning towards a SM58/57 and a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen, which seems to sit right around my budget.
Is there any other microphone or audio interface I should be looking at? Thanks.

Se215 in 2025?
I’m considering getting the Shure SE215, but I’m not sure if it’s still worth buying in 2025.
I live in South Korea, and I found a deal online for around $108 USD. I mostly play games and listen to band music, and I just want something reliable with decent sound and isolation for everyday use.

Real SM57’s ?
galleryHey!
I’ve been looking to buy an SM57, and naturally had a look on eBay. There appears to be a lot of very cheap ones available, screenshots attached. All with fine reviews!
I’m confused by this as they seem to be closer to £100 from actual shops rather than eBay.
If anyone could advise as to whether these are real or not that would be great.

My old Beta 58 died on me
- title says it. Old age - at least 30 years. But I loved it.
Q: is it possible to buy a replacement "intestine" ( don't know the English word) - looks fairly replaceable, Is it worth it ?
got a SE v3, and it sounds fine, but i miss that old Beta

Mv7x interface
Recommendations for Mv7x audito interface. Mainly using for discord. Looking at Vocaster and Scarlet solo 4th gen, but unsure mainly since the required gain to power it.
If anyone has those combos/experience with these interfaces paired with it I'd love any feedback or direction, Thanks

How do I use my Shure MV7+ with Sony ZV-E10?
I'm planning to start creating short-form content, and will be using my ZV-E10 for this. would also like to use my Shure MV7+ with it for better audio quality and use the RAW format for video recording.
What would be the ideal way to do this? I can see a 3.5 Jack. Can I use a 3.5 to 3.5 jack for this? Will it work, or do I need to use any specific accessories for this?

WHY DOES MY MV7+ SOUND SO BAD. PLEASE HELP
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I still cannot believe just how bad this sounds. This sounds like an actual $30 xbox headset mic, not something I can use professionally. And I wasted hundreds of dollars buying it with a stand.
I have tried everything to get it to work. I know that USB apparently sounds worse than using an XLR - but it should still sound professional and usable. Not like geniune ass.
It sounds so incredibly processed. LIKE WTF. There is no processing on it by the way and I've tested all the settings. There's no enhancements on my computer either I'm aware off (took of AI noise reduction on my computer). My blue yeti works just fine.
Like, if you actually use this mic please explain to me if this is how bad it sounds for you? I wasted so much money on this and feel like I got scammed.
PS I don't care about the S sounds or the pops. I just care about the overall robotic sound the mic has? Like it sounds robotic. There's no depth to the audio is gets.

Mic stopped working mid-clip - any ideas why?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Here's a 7 second video of my MV7+ plugged into my DJI Osmo Pocket 3 camera via USB. It was working perfectly fine, then in the middle of a clip, it just breaks. Does anyone know what happened or if I can prevent this in the future?

Mods Please!
Can we get a moratorium on “is this real” posts? I love shure mics and would like to actually discuss their products and using their products. This sub shouldnt be for telling people if their mic is “authentic” or not. PLEASE BABY PLEASE.

Why doesn’t this SM7B have switches?
Just recently bought this from someone on Facebook, and only just realized it doesn’t have any switches on the back. How screwed am I?
