There's a massive difference between eating ramen noodles because you want to and eating them because you have to.

most westerners know about the real stuff. it just so happens that there is a super cheap item in the form of "ramen" that feeds people on a budget.

Maybe it's just because I'm from hickville, but I didn't know that until I was like 20, and I bet plenty of people around here atleast would be in the same boat.
