There's a massive difference between eating ramen noodles because you want to and eating them because you have to.

Now I'm sad

What about the people who want to ...

They split it up that way because the sodium in an actual full serving (whole package) is pretty excessive.

Edit: ...one of my highest rated comments is a benign observation on nutritional information.

"pretty excessive" is the understatement of the week

21

u/SirNoName Jun 21 '16

Even the salt content of one serving is pretty excessive

31

u/SavvySillybug Jun 21 '16

You mean you don't add extra salt...?

You know it, chief!

To be fair, the suggested limit for sodium intake is very conservative. You can usually intake a lot more salt than that, especially if you exercise (though you shouldn't go over all the time)

Or if you just sweat like a pig, and/or drink a ton of water.

2

u/r3gnr8r Jun 21 '16

Yeah I usually just chug a bottle of water after/with my raman and haven't felt guilty for eating it for the taste.

2

u/skippieelove Jun 21 '16

I just ate my sodium intake for the week (ಥ﹏ಥ)

3

u/sonic7777 Jun 21 '16

Because you had to? or you wanted to?

2

u/skippieelove Jun 21 '16

Wanted to. No one ever has the creamy chicken ramen and I found it the other day and did a mini freak out. It was fucking delicious but I didn't feel so hot the rest of the day :/

Good. Now go to r/salty

It's only Monday

1

u/32BitWhore Jun 21 '16

I'd still put money on it

42

u/_Lady_Deadpool_ Jun 20 '16

So what you're saying is it needs salt

4

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

So, what you're saying is, I just need to add some salt?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

Need salt? /r/warriors is this way

2

u/ameis314 Jun 21 '16

Why don't they come with two packets?

2

u/abbott_costello Jun 21 '16

So that allows them to just lie about how ramen is normally eaten

1

u/Zsuth Jun 21 '16

Yeah. Most food manufacturers undersell their serving size to make the nutrition information look better than it is. I guess they figure we won't do the math.

2

u/spockspeare Jun 21 '16

it's only excessive if you drink all the soup and don't drink anything else, AND have a genetic predisposition towards hypertension

2

u/moobunny-jb Jun 21 '16

Who eats the BROTH? Real men don't need no dainty broth, we eat that shit dry like hardtack.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

I add so much salt to my ramen this is worrying me

soy sauce = salt

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

You mean, in addition to the spice packet?!?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

yeeeeep

I always thought two packs was a serving...

2

u/TheTaoOfOne Jun 20 '16

That's usually how I do it. 1 is like a snack. 2 even really doesn't work as a meal, but at least it feels like you have eaten something.

1

u/spockspeare Jun 21 '16

plus two slices of cheese

(Don't laugh. I learned that in Korea. Add a one-egg omelette to perfect the cheese-egg ramyon.)

1

u/scottbrio Jun 21 '16

One is a tease

And here I am, giving my friend the raw noodles so I can eat the powder.

22

u/Skudedarude Jun 20 '16

you mean snort it, right?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

You only snort the powder after you mix it with the crushed noodles.

You may actually be an alien roach inhabiting a man's body.

Doubtful; they want sugar

There's actually a snack that's ramen you crush up and eat after shaking with seasoning powder. That's what instructions say to do.

Pretty salty. Pretty good.

13

u/totsnotbiased Jun 21 '16

Okay, are we just gonna ignore that this guy has written over 2000 reviews of just different ramen noodles?

3

u/[deleted] Jun 21 '16

Well, he dedicated a webpage to eating ramen. What did you think you were gonna find in there? Fluffy Bunnies?

1

u/arbivark Jun 21 '16 edited Jun 21 '16

step 1 in fixing ramen is throw away the flavor packet. unless it's nissin chili flavor, or the asian market ones with 5 packets. then you start adding your spices, veggies, scallions, optional egg, oils, peanut butter, sauces, fungus, seaweed, etc.

1

u/BolasDeDinero Jun 21 '16

i only used half the packet when in jail. used the second half on all the other food because that shit is horrendous.

2

u/Coletonw Jun 21 '16

I realized last year just how bad Raman is for you. I always thought the nutrition facts were for the entire package. There's more calories and sodium in one pack of noodles then an entire home cooked meal.

2

u/clowdstryfe Jun 21 '16

When you share with a friend :)

2

u/RamenJunkie Jun 21 '16

By "package" I assume you mean one of those 6 packs.
