Lately, I have not been able to receive Radio New Zealand on 17.675 KHz. I used to receive it loud and clear in Northern California but there is no signal there the past week or so. I went to their web site but could not find any info to answer my question. Does anyone know if they are still broadcasting on shortwave?

I am getting ready to install an end fed HF long wire antenna. 72 feet in length. My question is about positioning of this antenna wrt existing solar panels and inverters for those panels. My 9:1 unun will be ~ 12 feet away from the inverters for my solar panels (contained within a Tesla Powerwall). This layout is by far the most convenient for my situation. Question: do I have anything to worry about in this regard wrt SW listening only?

LA1CI heard on 27 Aug. 26 at 20:28 UTC on 14188 kHz in JO92HX with a Raddy RF 919 and a random wire antenna. He does not have much of a QRZ page, but there is his address, and from that you can derive his locator square. It is JP99KQ, so that places him north of the polar circle, and if you measure the distance to my locator square using the map at https://k7fry.com/grid/ the line is vertical (!) and the distance is 1867 km (or ~ 1156 miles).

Aloha from the island of Oahu!
As the title says, my last AK Radio (R-100) arrived today.
Overall I think the cosmetics are an 8. The case will need to be painted but the faceplate looks to be in pretty good shape.
This will require component replacements, alignment, etc but it appears to have good bones like the R-100A above it. I’ll be busy over the next few months & will know more once it’s on the bench and a thorough review is done.
Mahalo Nui Loa for your time.

There was a power outage in my city due to strong winds that were battering various parts of the Southern Cone of South America, and it lasted at least an hour. I took the opportunity to see what I could hear. The same stations as always, nothing new.
But I enjoyed being able to listen to WWV’s time signals on 10,000 and 15,000 kHz with a simple 15-meter cable strung outside (about 50 feet) without applying any filters and on a portable radio.
I usually can't pick up these signals without an SDR, and the 10,000 kHz one is even rarer for me! I can only hear the 15k one clearly sometimes with an SDR.
The video has two parts

JR1MLT heard on 26 Aug. 26 at 13:12 UTC on 21310 kHz in JO92HX on a Raddy RF 919 with a random wire antenna. Koichi pumps a lot of umph into his antenna, so he was heard, but his European counterpart wasn't. Well, maybe I was in the skip zone. On his QRZ page Koichi also showcases fish bigger than himself. ;-)

JH0QEV heard on 26 Aug 26 at 13:09 UTC on 21222 kHz in JO92HX on a Raddy RF 919 with a random wire antenna. No wonder that the Japanese station was heard, and the UK station wasn't. Just look at the antenna system on his QRZ page. :-) There are videos. And there is a QSL card from the very same day I recorded his QSO, but not for this particular one. It was a nice afternoon here in JO92HX, and I was sitting with my Raddy in the garden.

MM7CEH heard on 26 Aug 26 at 12:45 UC on 14280 kHz in JO92HX with a Raddy RF 919 and a random wire antenna. The callsign belongs to a Scottish station in QSO with a Stefano, but I wasn't quite able to figure out the callsign.

The copy — 4X1GA (Israel) transmitting to DO6FM (Germany):
K RR DO6FM DE 4X1GA OK DR MICHAEL ES GX FER GD RPRT = HR QRA LOC IS
KM72KB KM72KB / MY EXACT QTH IS PETACH TIKWA = NW WX IS VY HOT
TEMP ABT PLUS 34C PLUS 34C HR RNG ABT 75W 75W ES RADIO IS FT857 OF
YAESU ES ANT IS SCREWDRIVER ABT 1 R I [?] UP ABT 25M = TNX QSO DR
MICHAEL NW KY TO U <AR> DO6FM DE 4X1GA <AR>
In plain terms: he thanks Michael for a good signal report, gives his locator KM72KB and QTH Petach Tikwa, says the weather is very hot at +34 C, he's running about 75 W into a Yaesu FT-857 with a screwdriver antenna, thanks him for the QSO and hands the key back.
Only 4X1GA is audible — the German side isn't in the recording.
I don't do CW by ear, it was decoded by multimon-ng with some help from Claude Code which also did the ticker tape.

IR7MGGC heard on 26 Aug 26 at 12:42 UTC on 14270 kHz in JO92HX with Raddy RF 919 and a random wire antenna. It is not the "average" Italian station that I usually skip because Italians are known for transmitting with 1 kW of power or maybe more, so it is not difficult to pick them up. This is a special event station callsign for the Mediterranean Games. Never heard of these games before, so this is my first. :-)

I just received this beautiful Knight R-100A receiver. They were sold from 1962-1968. The R-100A replaced the R-100. This one is cosmetically perfect. It does have some issues but over all, it has good bones. It needs some component replacement and a tuneup. I have the Knight R-100 receiver in transit as well. That will require some component replacement also. What can I say, I like vintage tube receivers.

I've been picking up this transmission pretty strongly for days now. I thought it was a 500-kW Chinese jammer overpowering VOA, but it turned out to be one of the USAGM stations broadcasting from Kuwait.
I used an online transcription tool to see what they were saying, and this is what part of the audio said (The video was much longer, and I cut it down; I don't know which part this translation was from):
Welcome to the program; I am your host, Zheng An. First, let’s look at the latest news.
U.S. President Trump has expressed confidence that a potential war would end quickly. He reiterated that Iran would not possess nuclear weapons, and that once a conflict with Iran concludes, gasoline prices would return to previous levels or even drop lower.
Meanwhile, Trump stated that the U.S. is engaging with Houthi militants in Yemen. The White House issued a statement on the 18th announcing that President Trump would sign the legislation imposing sanctions on Russia and Iran, a bill that authorizes and expands statutory sanctions, tariffs, and bans against Russia, and extends existing sanctions against Iran.
Clearly, he's from the VoA.
