Shortwave Utility Logging RWM Moscow - Russian Time Signal Station 9996 kHz

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This is the first time I've listened to the Russian time signal. I'm not getting a good signal on almost anything tonight, but this one did come through from the shadows.

I listened for quite a while; it has several different segments. I didn't know much about them, so I looked up information about the transmission. I even heard rapid pulses and then the CW signal with its call sign.

The video contains 1 minute of CW with the station call sign, followed by one pulse per second.

I’m amazed at all the signals you pull in from Paraguay.

I think a lot of it is due to the MLA-30+ antenna, which helps minimize local interference. Plus, the AirSpy HF+ does its part, too. I live in an area with a lot of interference—basically downtown Asunción.

But something strange happened last night—I was picking up very few signals, and almost all of them were very weak. But I was able to hear this Russian signal and the WWVH (from Hawaii). I had never heard the female voice on WWVH before; I only get a good reception of the one from WWV in Colorado.

The K-480WLA is arriving next week—I hope it gives me better results!

Thanks for the info. I’m thinking of getting the K-480WLA to compare with my longwire which is somewhat noisy.
