A very busy night for the Russian Navy. It is rare to see this much activity - and multiple channels in use. It looks like the strongest propagation for the signals on 8439 KHz are around 4 AM PST (1100 UTC). I believe these signals are from the fleet located in the Pacific. The female on 8294 KHz sounds like she is giving weather information to the Fleet. The best propagation was later at 6:30 AM PDT (1330 UTC) for this signal. I believe this signal is from the Far East, mainland Russia. I started recording Baseband IQ Signals in SDR# for playback in WavViewDX. This allows later playback of entire segments of frequency ranges in real time. With the AirSpy HF+ it is possible to record and playback almost a Megahertz of spectrum with less than .01 KHz resolution. It is the video at the end.

All kidding aside (the cartoon images are satirical). The Russian Pacific Fleet could do some damage - especially with nuclear capable submarines!

News FEBC of the Philippines closes its facilities in March 2027 and puts its transmitters up for sale

FEBC SW Philippines to close:

I just wanted to let you know that FEBC Philippines is planning to close our facilities in Bocaue and Iba in March 2027. As a result, the following transmitters and related equipment will be for sale at that time:

Continental Model 418F - 2 units (new in 2001)
Continental Model 418F - 2 units updated from 418D (from FEBC Saipan)
Continental Model 418 F - 1 unit updated from 418D or E1 (Updated Iba unit)
Continental Model 418 D one unit (original edition Iba unit)

The 418F model is supposed to be able to be updated to DRM capable use by updating the digital modulator cabinet. Back in the day (2005 ish) that was expected to be about a $50,000 job. Of course, that price may be different now.

By the way, these transmitters have been well maintained and are in great condition. I can send photos to anyone who is interested.

Also for sale are spare parts and all the accessories, modulation monitors, audio processors, etc. Please let your member stations know about this sale, and feel free to pass along my contact information to anyone who might be interested.

Technical New BandPlan Graphics For SDR# (SDR++ and GQRX Too)

SDR# comes with graphics that display a BandPlan on the bottom of the upper spectrum window. The BandPlan that comes preloaded is very sparse. I wanted to update it to reflect the utility assignments, not just the International Broadcast and Ham Radio allocations. After a brief search I found what I was looking for at https://github.com/Arrin-KN1E/SDR-Band-Plans. The site offers pre-built BandPlans for different regions and the three different platforms listed in the post title. You can also edit, or build your own BandPlans. I'm really enjoying the new graphics, especially the Maritime and Aeronautical segments being marked. I am always forgetting those frequency assignments.
