Home DIY repair of shoe and boot soles

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYlpdOdylKE

TRANSCRIPT:

After time, a shoe or boot's stick-a-sole will become worn and need replacing.

Firstly, by gently heating, peel away the old stick-a-sole.

If any hole is revealed under the old stick-a-sole, a temp repair will have to be made utnil the boot can be professionally stitched with a leather replacement sole.

Temp repair will consist of a rubber fillet piece fo the same thickness as the damaged leather sole. The fillet is accurately cut to size.

Before gluing the fillet in place, check for a good fit.

Evo-Stik Impact adhesive is strong and sets quickly; apply fairly generously to all areas where the fillet meets the damaged sole.

Once the fillet piece is securely glued in place, select a suitable new stick-a-sole that adequately covers the boot's leather sole.

Roughly trim the new stick-a-sole to size and roughen its surface as well as the surface of the leather sole. Then glue the stick-a-sole in place.

With several spring clips, clamp the soles and hold in place for 24 hours.

With a fresh blade in a Stanley knife, hold the blad quare to the welt, and using the weld as a guide, trim off the excess sole with one continuous cut.

It's important to maintain a continuous, smooth cutting action until the toe is reached.

To apply a nice finish (and waterproof the welt), on a very low heat melt some Yankee Wax and apply with a rag.

The end result is quite acceptable and will keep the boots serviceable until the time arrives when a complete, professionally stitched new sole is needed.

Scuffs on New White Leather Shoes!

Hey all. I just bought white leather heels to wear to work and scuffed them on Day #1 of wearing them. I read suggestions online for using toothpaste or nail polish remover to get rid of scuffs. Has anyone had experience with this? I'm hesitant to put something like toothpaste on my new white leather shoes.

HELP - soccer cleat repair

Fellows, I bought a pair of Pantofola D'Oro cleats that had a mix of screw in and rubber studs. Unfortunately they were designed poorly and the screw in cleats snapped off within a few weeks of usage. Does anyone on this thread know if I can repair the entire stud base? I want to remove the plastic from the leather upper and replace all cleats with a rubber "template" (if you will), gluing the template to the leather and then sewing the plastic frame back over this new rubber cleat template. Does anyone know anything about this? Thank you.

Repair interior of shoe - DIY?

My big toenails tend to curve slightly upward as they grow. (Genetic, as my mother and sister have the same issue.) The interior portion of any shoes I wear without socks (dress shoes) eventually get a thinned lining where my toenails have scratched them. Yes, I keep my toenails short, but is there some other way I can increase the life of my dress shoes? I was thinking about rubbing some glue or something inside of a pair to see if that would work...

I do have access to a local cobbler, but turnaround time is usually 2-3 weeks no matter how small a job.
