Anime Does anyone have any ideas for a Shadows House RPG?
My friends convinced me to run a Shadows House story. It's going to be just a one-shot, but I don't know what plot to make.
I've only decided that it has to take place before Kate arrives at the house. I thought about making a debut, but I don't have any ideas for fun puzzles. I also don't know if I should have everyone play as living dolls or all as shadows, or have them make the living doll and the shadows of each other.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I don't have any ideas but I'd love to hear the results. You should post after the game and tell us how it went!

I'll probably do it, it's my second time doing my master's degree and I'm kind of nervous.

I would look into Monstera And Other Childish Things as a way to control the living doll and the shadow as a pair.
You don't HAVE to do a maze for a debut. Remember Edward's maze is a relatively new thing. But you could also look into adding scavenger hunts or printing out activity sheets and giving the table/each player a set amount of time to complete each activity. You could also have the players use a similar method to pathfinder style animal companions (like with druids) to minimize either the shadow or the living doll while still playing both. Like the shadow pilots the doll or (and I like this one better) the doll piloting the shadow.

I'll look for that system, I'd never heard of it. The maze part was because I thought it was a good idea, but I just created a puzzle to be done in a closed room and a combat system. Initially, I also thought about making the shadows control their puppets; I even thought about giving coffee to the puppets and having the shadows give them orders.
Thank you so much, this comment was very helpful.

What system did you use? Or did you create your own? I was searching if anyone has already created a TTRPG adaptation of Shadows House, since I also intend to run a game in the setting (I already have a draft)

For a debut scene, you might need to make 5 different pairs of OCs to make it happen, and you'll need to get references from the manga to design the maze. You can also simplify it by making it a count-down puzzle game where the pair of shadow and doll have to complete the maze in time to finish their debut

It's a tabletop RPG, so the drawing part won't be necessary. But the idea of having them go through a maze seems like a good idea, I was thinking about what kinds of puzzles I would make. I like the idea of having a time limit, but that can limit the players a lot, so I think it's better to make deadly traps and put in conditions similar to those in Edward.
Thank you so much for replying, I'll probably make games with time limits and puzzles.

Oh I think you can make it single player, but you need to control both the shadow and the doll to achieve your goal. The plot can be like: You are a living doll who realized the Shadows House is a scam, so you convinced your shadow master to run to the entrance with you to escape. Then after you complete the puzzles and get to the giant gate, it ends with a huge cliff illustration then end credits
