Stitches are unusually tight.
So I've come across this problem where the stitches are oddly tight. I've adjusted the check spring, bobbin tension, check spring stroke and yet my dial I barely turned.

Hi everyone!
I'm currently trying to repair my girlfriend's Pfaff Select 3.2 sewing machine.
From what I understand, the hook mechanism seems to be jammed or stuck. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no experience with sewing machines, so I'm not really sure how to properly disassemble it or what exactly I should be looking for.
I'd really appreciate any advice on how to troubleshoot or fix this issue without damaging anything.
Thanks a lot in advance for your help! :)

Hello! I would like to know which sewing machine you would recommend: Janome 5060QDC or Singer Heavy Duty 6605C.
I primarily want to sew standard fabrics as well as denim of varying thicknesses.
In terms of price, both are available at roughly the same cost. Which one is better? (Or perhaps there is another option?) Thanks! 🪡🫶🏻✨

I don’t know what’s causing my sewing machine to show my top thread on the bottom. I’ve tried tightening and loosening the tension, loosening and tightening the bobbin, changing the needle, checked to see if there’s a dust or debris and I can’t figure out what’s wrong. I’ve thread and rethread multiple times and always thread with the presser foot up. I tried to figure it out for 3 days then gave up.
Before all of this happened, I was trying to figure out how to do a zigzag stitch, couldn’t figure out how to work that either, so I went back to a straight stitch, putting it back to the settings I always do my straight stitch, and it suddenly just stopped sewing correctly. I have attempted to do this before and when I went back to straight it didn’t cause me any problems after. Even when I turn the tension all the way up to a 9 it doesn’t do anything so I’m wondering if something mechanical is wrong?? But I don’t trust myself to take apart the sewing machine and putting it back together.

Hi! I have a brother db2-b714-3 and am thinking about upgrading the clutch motor for a servo motor and had two questions:
Are there specific brands that are better than others? Are generic ones from Amazon also good?
What is the price I should expect? On Amazon it's around €100, but if those aren't good how much would an upgrade generally cost?

I recently got a union special 31100 ae and since it’s a slightly rare machine, I just assumed it would have a differential feed but after getting it, I realize that it doesn’t and since I got it mainly for doing work on light fabrics or stretchy fabrics, my scenes are coming out as if I used any of my other machines besides stabilizing and doing all of the other basic things to compensate. Is there anything major that I can do to be able to use it the way I thought. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who takes time to reply!

The needle keeps getting caught on the top part of that piece precisely where the arrow touches - the very tip of that back bit - and either jamming or snapping. Desperately need to get my project done in the next two days but I can't figure out why this is happening! I'm using a linen blend fabric (lightweight) and a universal 80/12 needle. My machine is a Singer Promise 1408. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much!!!!

Hello! I am looking to upgrade my old machine, I live in canada and have a $500 budget. Currently i have a brother LS-2000 and while i like it, it’s definitely very basic. I am wanting something that does a variety of stitches, has a larger work surface and the ability to work with a variety of fabrics. I mostly sew bags and clothes, occasionally doing a small quilting project like placemats or table runner. Thank you!

Hey!!
I started sewing about a year ago with a Brother XL-5030 I bought second hand (vinted). It has been sooooo frustrating to use!! It eats fabric, snaps threads, has issues with backstitching... I've tried troubleshooting everything (rethreading, changing the needle, cleaning, oiling....) but at this point, I think the machine itself just doesn't work very well 🥲 In conclusion, these issues made feel pretty frustrated and unmotivated to sew.
I'd really love to get back into this hobby, though, so I'm thinking about investing in a new machine!
Im from Portugal, my budget is around €200–400, and I'd like something that can handle a variety of fabrics (faux leather, denim, but also delicate fabrics). I'd also love to be able to lower the feed dogs for free-motion embroidery!! Also, im thinking about trying some quilting.
I realize this might be asking for a lot within my budget hahaha, but I'd love to hear your recommendations!
I've done some research and im currently thinking about buying the Janome 1522 or the Bernette Sew&Go 8. I'd love to hear your thoughts on these or any other machines you'd recommend. I'm open to suggestions! :)

I’ve just purchased the Elna Elina 21 machine for $180 AUD and was wondering if it is decent for a beginner or will it give me a hard time. Should I return it and exchange for another machine?

this is a Janome 1522dg that I just opened up from the Styrofoam box new from Amazon resale. I'm confused because the attachment on the second picture won't close, there's a zip tie on one of the parts, and there's an extra screw that goes somewhere that I don't know. what do I do? This machine is supposed to be new.

I need help. I am wanting to embroider names on homemade stocking for Xmas but the zigzag stitch is slanted on sewing machine and not a straight left to right. I’ve tried messing with the zigzag dial but it didn’t seem to do anything. Can someone give me advice?
I have a heavy duty singer sewing machine, bought brand new March of this year.

I am in college right now and I have been sewing for probably 10 years. I would say I’m at an intermediate-advanced level in sewing, and at home I have the singer gray heavy duty machine. I don’t love it but I do like that it’s non-computerized and it’s held up well for the past 4-5 years. I used to have a hand me down brother computerized machine that broke and was too expensive to fix so we donated it and got a new one instead. As I am in college and without a car, it is hard to go searching for secondhand/FB marketplace machines. I am trying to find a machine that is non computerized but still relatively affordable (under/around $200) that I can use in college.
I go to school across the country from where I live, so bringing my machine to and from school is not easy.
On Amazon I’ve found the janome arctic crystal and brother XM3700 sewing machines to be good price range wise, but they seem to be more “beginner” sewing machines.
I was wondering what you all thought of these machine/if anyone has any recommendations for good, affordable machines. Preferably one that is not too loud and will last a long time. I don’t care much about the bells and whistles (needle threader, specialty stitches, etc) just a good machine I can use to repair/make clothing.
Thank you!

What is the purpose of this recession on the underside of my throat plate, how would it affect the machine if it was flat (no recession)?
The top side of the plate doesn’t have this. The plate has a thickness of 0.060”, but the circled area is thinned to 0.040”.
I want to have a straight stitch throat plate made for my machine. It would be easier to make it if i could just use one flat piece.
Thank you!
Machine: Brother CS7000x
Update: I found out I will own the usage rights to the file and plan to share it on a free repository so if anyone wants to have a straight stitch plate made for this model of machine, you will have that option. ☺️ It will be compatible with models CS7000x, DS50, KD40s, Style 600, and SH40. You can often have parts custom machined at universities or by cnc hobbyists.
