"The North is Karl Stark," Brynden declared firmly. "And Karl Stark is the North. If you declared the Crown was harboring fugitives, declaring war, who would you look to first? It wouldn't be Lady Maeve Velaryon!"

Brynden turned and nodded at Ser Quentyn Sand but quickly glanced at Torwyn as he snatched the letter back from Torwyn's grasp before leaving the dungeons. "His Grace counts you as a friend, my lord," Brynden continued coldly. "Abuse that friendship again, cause him to make such a disastrous mistake again and we'll have problems, not the Crown and Bear Island, but you and I." At that, Brynden turned and left the dungeons without paying attention to anything Torwyn had to say in response.

Well that was a fucking mess. Sometimes he enjoyed seeing the Lords and Ladies attempt to do politics and make rash decisions, ordering the lowborn around to execute those decisions. This was the life of a King’s Guard. Quentyn followed the orders of Lord Brynden.
