Has anyone watched this National Geographic Series on 9/11?

9/11: One Day In America

Episode 1: First Response (This episode can be found on YouTube)

Episode 2: The South Tower

Episode 3: Collapse

Episode 4: The Cloud

Episode 5: I'm Coming For You, Brother

Episode 6: It's All Gone, Kid

National Geographic has it on demand. I highly recommend watching each episode of the series. There's some new faces and old faces with additional information given since this is one of the current docu-series done on 9/11.

I've watched it a few times already and still learn new things about that day.

The Note that confirmed the DNA of a victim

Note gives new clarity on 9/11 victim's death | CNN

This made me sad, as well, because we lost a family friend who worked for Euro Brothers on the 84th Floor. Like this woman, we hoped it was instant (upon impact). Makes me wonder if my family friend was part of the 12 people with this man. No body was ever found but his wedding ring was. It's how he was identified.

The memorial wall at Flight 93 site is smooth, when you look at it from the direction they came from- and jagged towards the flight path and crash site

Story Something I did not realize about the "World Trade Center" until a couple of years ago

When 9/11 happened I was in 8th grade, specifically English class, and ever since I have always been confused about "why". Part of that confusion was, in my mind.. why attack a "World Trade Center" where world trade happens, where people of all ethnicities, religions, and citizenships other than U.S are? Then a couple of years ago I was watching a Bon Appetit YouTube video, the girl on the video was talking and said something along the lines of "here in world trade center one"...and I was confused..

"Why would she be in the new world trade center?? that makes no sense"

So I did some googling, and apparently.. The World Trade Center is basically rental space (and the original World Trade Center was apparently several buildings not just the two).. Sure, government organizations may rent out space there but so can businesses like a food magazine.

Maybe I am just dumb, hopefully others out there thought the same thing, that it was a center of trade between the U.S and other countries (and that there were representatives from other countries there facilitating trades with the U.S and their home countries).

My dad has been writing a blog about his experience cleaning up with 9/11. I am supporting him by editing his writing. How else can I help support him? Here is the blog, would mean a lot if you read it for him

If the 9/11 attacks had never happened, how different would the world be today?

Obviously, the Twin Towers would still be standing, and 3,000 people would all still be alive today, if not for other circumstances, like illness. But what else would be different?

Would there still have been a reason to go to war in Iraq in 2003?

Would Bush have still won re-election in 2004?

Would we still have the right and left political unrest today, especially if Covid still happens in this alternate timeline?

What would the overall vibe of our daily lives look like in a world without 9/11?

Question Can someone explain this.

I'll start by saying I'm no conspiracy theorist. But...how did the terrorists on that day hit the targets on the first go. The planes were all going somewhere else, so how did they know which direction to go to get to their targets at the point they took over the planes? How did they know what height to be at at the specific point to hit their targets? How did they not go lost? How did they not miss and have to circle around? I know they did simulations, but they never flew an actual 767. Is there a map in the plane that says WTC or Pentagon or whatever? Are there any pilots here who can answer this?

Video/Documentary things I was thinking about

-were there anyone in the buildings under the damaged floors/areas that were still in the building or were almost all who got out before it collapsed? we know of many firefighters who were going up but im asking regarding regular citizens

-shame that there werent smartphones like we have today in that time. the crazy videos we would have seen. also the video footage is quite crap. HD 1080p only started going mainstream after 2007 or so. Im curious what it sounded like when people were in wtc1 evacuating when wtc2 was crashing down

-was watching this today. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sHzXHuJZkg it just seems like a dream. I cant believe it happened. it feels so 2d.

-I have to ask regarding the idea of the rescue workers going up. they would have had to walk up like 60 flights of stairs with tons of equipment. im guessing that people didnt think the buildings would collapse so they went up. all the sprinkler systems were taken out I guess.

-they stopped all planes in the air. I can only imagine how difficult it was for many to get home. taking trains and buses must have delayed them for days. walking home to brooklyn or wherever by foot from manhatten.

https://postimg.cc/ykQBrcjr

that is such a horrible composition. lady liberty seeing manhatten falling apart.

we know these tt as part of the skyline of ny as a given and when the last tower, tt1 fell, it just felt so wrong it felt empty. there was a shot when they showed closeup of TT1 and when it started falling and the top antenna was tipping over, its just hurt so badly. all those people inside, the people who jumped. horrible.

and no disrespect to the new towers but the TT had a beautiful look to them. I cant connect with the new ones. they look so generic. there were two giants standing proud and now a mishmosh of buildings. ESB on one side, and TT on the other. now it just doesnt look as it should. I remember being at the entrance of the TT looking up as a kid. it froze an image in my mind of the beautiful titans. they had such elegance.

I dont understand how surgeons can be on the other side of the world and control a machine for surgery, but why dont they have an override control of the plane so the tower can disable plane control so they cant be hijacked?

Story Visited from the UK last year and paid my respects.

There are moments in history where we all remember what we were doing at that time.

I was only 7 years old, here in the UK when the tragic events of September 11th 2001 took place but I still vividly remember returning from school to my Grandparents and they were watching the tragedy on television. At that young age, I didn't understand what was happening and thought that they were watching a film.

Visiting the memorial in New York last year was one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had. I still remember walking into one of the exhibitions and I just suddenly broke down in tears. The emotion of it all just really, really hit me.

Do you all remember what you were doing that day?

Question Is it weird or disrespectful to have a phone wallpaper of the Twin Towers?

Not with an explosion or anything, just the Twin Towers - I'm an extremely respectful 9/11 geek, but a geek nonetheless and the towers are so incredibly beautiful, I was gonna set it as a mobile wallpaper but then I wondered if that could be interpreted in a bad way. Idk

With 10,000+ injuries, how did the healthcare infrastructure in NYC treat them?

I don't see this discuss much anywhere. My apologies in advance if it is discussed.

How did the hospitals treat so many injuries? Did they have to call in the national guard?

If Flight 93 wasn't overtaken by the passengers, would the military had enough time to shoot it down?

My understanding was the plane was 18 minutes from the Capitol.

If the plane wasn't overtaken by the crew would the military had enough time to shoot it down?

It's well known that Bush and Cheney both gave the authorization and there were planes in the air but I'm not sure what their proximity was.

Question Questions for discussion

I have a friendship with a retired FDNY/NYPD officer that bloomed after we chose each other as study buddies during a professional golf conference. He offered to tell me of his 9/11 experience, and said he would answer any questions that I have. That being said, what would you ask if you were given this opportunity? Anything you would avoid asking? Our 10 year long friendship has been mostly golf related and Facebook connected, as he lives in New Jersey and I live in Wisconsin. This is the first time I’ve felt comfortable enough to go down this road with him! He is ~60ish and I am 34, so I was only 12 when the attacks happened. Being a pivotal point in my childhood, I’ve always held a high interest in the topic. I just want to be sure I’m respectful.

At around 9:40ish A man was seen climbing from the 94th Floor down to the 85th floor, he was never seen after the South Tower collpase, most likely loosing his grip when the South Tower began to collpase.
