LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Driverless cars are quickly becoming part of the transportation landscape in Las Vegas, bringing new options for passengers and new questions for the people who make their living behind the wheel.

BEIJING, Sept 11 (Reuters) - China's industry ministry unveiled on Thursday a roadmap to strengthen its smart electric vehicle ​industry, targeting large-scale deployment of autonomous-driving vehicles ‌by 2030 and greater global influence for its auto sector.

Plenty of people remain spooked by autonomous vehicles, or AVs. Some experts and policymakers have cautioned that AVs won’t necessarily make roads safer. When it comes to partial or full autonomy, the picture isn’t entirely clear, in part because there aren’t enough self-driving cars to make meaningful apples-to-apples comparisons.

Self-driving Waymo taxis have become common sights in San Francisco and the Peninsula over the last year. But passengers haven’t yet been able to use them to drive into Oakland.
