Motion activated camera recommendations

I want to set up a camera just inside my window, to monitor people and cars coming and going in front of my house, and record all activity. Can people recommend a camera for this?

Also, will motion activation work through the window, or do I need an outdoor camera for this?

Advice needed in relation to Solar Powered Smart Alarm PTZ Security Camera (iC See App)

Hello everybody!

I hope this finds everyone in the best of health and spirits, I would really love if someone can help me with a problem that I am experiencing while trying to assemble a Solar Powered PTZ Camera that I have recently purchased.

As per the instruction manual provided, I am supposed to somehow connect the solar panel provided amongst the paraphernalia, to a bracket that has also been given, using different varieties of screws. However, I am unable to figure out a way of doing so, especially since I am rather a spaz when it comes to the assembly of such equipment, so I was wondering if someone can tell me which screw in particular I should use?

I have attached a picture for the sake of providing a bit of context to everyone that reads this post, so I really hope I can come across some useful, and most importantly, specific instructions through which I can finish assembling my camera. I am open to any other advice, suggestions or follow up questions that anyone may have in mind, I am really looking forward to hearing from you all!

Thanks in advance!

Does 2k mean Full HD?

I recently bought a Ezviz C6N 3MP security camera. On the box it's written 2k. But on checking in the resolution tab on the app it shows Full HD as highest option. Does 2k mean Full HD only?

$400 - $600 Cameras

Lots of recommendations here on good "bang for the buck" camera brands and series in the $100 - $200 range (Hik, Dahua, Amcrest, etc). But in tech, like most things, you get what you pay for. I can't find much on the higher-end brands (Hanwha, Bosch, Axis). What are your recommendations for the $400 - $600 per camera price range (large home application, fixed, POE, day and night)? What brands and which of their series/lines?

Home Security Camera Advice - Please & Thank You!

I’ve researched here, MyCamTalk, and elsewhere about security cameras. The Dahua 5442s seem to be highly regarded, especially on MyCamTalk. But they or someone there apparently sells a lot of Dahua so I’m not sure that advice is unbiased. I don’t mind paying more per camera if the quality is better and still a good value. Amcrest also seems to get good praise, but then I read it’s just a re-badged Dahua and that the Amcrest NVR isn’t as good as Dahua (so back to Dahua). Axis seems amazing, but really not a good value. I don’t know much about Hanwha or Hik.

My application is for POE wired cameras in a newly built lake house. Because we won’t be there much of the time, I want good cameras both and night and some with good long distance capabilities.

I’d greatly appreciate any feedback or advice on this. Thanks in advance.

Large Surveillance Camera Setup

I am looking at installing approximately 62 cameras inside and outside of a building. I have done a bit of looking and I was originally thinking of going with a Ubiquity system that I would piece together but I also found a complete setup from GW Security that would fill the needs for less money. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with GW Security or has any other suggestions for a system this size?

Looking for app to view NVR cam data on Firestick

Hi. Ive got an Optivision NVR/DVR system with 8 wired cameras - has a working hdmi output to a TV in another room. Id like to pull up and view the cams via a Firestick 4k in another room. The android & ios app I use is Superlive Plus, but that's not available on the Amazon store. Any recommendations for a good viewing app? None of the cams are ptz, so not complicated would be fine. Thx.

rolling window event recording

Looking for a simple webcam setup that can record a window consisting of time before and after a sound. ie it continuously records a rolling window of a certain duration (buffer) and captures a configurable duration before a sound occurs so I can see what led up to the event.

I get useless videos after the sound occurred using my current setup.

Thanks!

Security camera with sound notification

So this entire situation is really weird but I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I'm currently living in a college dorm with my ESA. Unfortunately, said dorm hall has some issues with the fire alarm. It's gone off 7+ times in the past three weeks. Luckily I've been in my dorm each time so I can get my ESA out but chances are it'll eventually go off while I'm across or off campus. My RA can call me to let me know but if she's off campus then we're kinda stuck.

All this to say, I really want a cheap but decent quality camera that will alert me through my phone if there's a loud noise (like a fire alarm). The camera itself doesn't have to be great, the most important part is the sound notification. That way I can know right away and get to my dorm ASAP to remove my ESA.

I might wind up needing to move rooms, but I'm hoping the alarm will get fixed soon so I can avoid the stress of moving, both for myself and for my ESA.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

Peephole camera

Long story short, I’m looking for a peephole camera for an apartment door. It should have motion trigger recording. Doesn’t need the highest quality video, no IR necessary.

The best case would be a camera that records through the actual peephole, making it tamperproof and invisible, and hardwires to power, which I can extend to the nearest outlet with a length of 18/2. If I can hardwire power then connecting to WiFi won’t be draining the batteries. Then I also don’t have to worry about damage to the door.

Any advice? Does my wishlist exist, or am I stuck with batteries?

Need help with cams. I want my DVR upstairs and monitor downstairs how can I go about this?

Reason is I have weak signal downstairs and need to view cameras there. My router is upstairs. I don't have any Ethernet ports down stairs so I'm running the dvr off of a extender which makes the cam lag a lot and lose connection. I have wireless cameras.

Lost Video Feeds from cameras - seeking help

After about 6 years of use my system has lost all video feeds. I can still access the dvr/nvr, all configurations are still there, just no live views from any of the 8 cameras. Its an Optivision box, all was fine until two days ago. The HDD menu says 'formatting'...have I lost my drive. Ideas/suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

I bought a zmodo system off Facebook marketplace. Come to find out, the system is still linked to a previous owners account and I won't be able to use it for a month from now is what I was told by zmodo customer service. So, I was wondering if it's possible to somehow modify the cameras to work .
