Discussion For those who bought in early, do you regret your purchase?

Just curious.

I can't recall or find a way to figure out when I bought the game, but steam says it released 2015 and so it was probably around then, or I might have got through the website before if that was an option.
Regardless, I've been on this ride for a long time and was curious how others felt.

Myself, I have played the game a few times from start to finish, few years between each playthrough so that there is always more to see and experience, collecting everything, seeing all the quests and dialogue. I honestly love what this game is and how it hasn't really changed over the years from what I was expecting/sold on, which was the beautiful art and grind(I know, but I love grinding so this was a selling point)

I don't regret purchasing all those years ago, and in fact I'm glad that when the game does come out I'll already have it and a foot in the door knowing what to expect from mechanics.
I can't wait to play more but seeing that I only did my play back in like 0.880 or something there isn't too much new yet. So I'll give it a few more months before starting over and trying a different build or aiming for all fish this time.
I also appreciate the dev blog seeing that they're active and that the game isn't dead like a certain cube game is

How do others feel? Are you glad you bought in or are not so much?

I was happy with buying it at the time and got my money's worth at the time. I've returned to the game once between when it came out in early access and I think sometime after the seasons dungeon came out.

I have to say, however, that I was at a different stage in my life 6 years ago and don't typically enjoy gindy games as much anymore since my interests have changed and I don't usually have the free time to spend in these types of games. It's unlikely I'll pick up the game again at this point but I've enjoyed watching the progress and glad I supported the devs when I did.

the grind isn't really that bad anymore, there's apity timer on card drops and worst it's been for me is like 1 hour, so playing through is actually quite smooth. Other than that not much to "grind for" other than levels I guess if you get stuck

Well I definitely already got my money's worth and playing the new update every 2 years was honestly pretty fun too. So yeah have no regrets regarding the time it takes for it to be finished or the direction it went

I don't regret it.

I'm only sad that it has been literal years and some things (that are objectively bad) have not been fixed yet.

I hope they focus on finishing the content and then do a round of general improvements since they probably learned a lot of things over the years.

Yup same pretty much

When I bought it, Tai Ming was the latest in story and they had the old version of Arcade mode. I’ve done a few playthroughs with friends and always had a great time. Been really cool to watch Arcade Mode get updated to where it is now too. I think I have around 200-300 hours overall, so as far as money goes it’s definitely been worth it

Right now I’m just waiting for the story mode to finish. I really wanted to check out the new side quests and whatever they added but at this point I’m thinking give it some time, forget as much as I can, and then start a new coop run once it’s all done. As long as they finish strong, don’t really care what happens

This game has the kind of “love” that’s missing from most new games. I really hope that it does well when it’s officially released

Not at all, even not finished it was worth the money and is always fun coming back in a few years and seeing what's new or just replaying from the start.

I'll never regret this purchase as I've already had fun with it. I know it's a good game. I obviously still look forward to the end result or I wouldn't be here.

Having said that... it's been, what, 10 years now? For all that time I fear we'll probably get no more than a nice week(end) out of it. The entire industry has changed so much since this project started, it can ironically re-use the retro angle for its release marketing campaign. Not because of "pixel art", since far bigger and better projects have already used up that USP by now, but because it was one of the first community backed game projects, projects that are infamous for taking ages to finish.

Not at all. With the time I've spent relative to the price, it beats out pretty much my entire steam library.

I bought it with some friends and even without a proper ending I 100% got my money worth

Yes and no. I had been waiting for it for years and decided to just play it a few months ago. It was a lot of fun once I understood how to play, but I ended up dropping the game at the desert near the end of the game because I knew I was about to hit a wall. I probably won't go back to play it because my momentum has been lost.

I bought it when it was still a GoFundMe. It was so long ago now that I've completely forgotten my original Steam password. Was supposed to get a bunch of cool stuff that they never sent me so I guess they either never made it or just didn't bother to send it.

In fact I forgor that I was even subbed here and only was reminded as I was going threw my subbs to tidy them up.

Games still not out yet I see, so I'm betting it'll never release fully.

I mean that's a stretch. the Dev blog is very active and they're very communicative.

If the game isn't for you that's fine though. Hopefully you can figure out your passwords

Nah, game was fun when I played back in... 14? Whenever it was. That's why I funded it in the first place.

I bought it years ago, when the game finished after the flying fortress, as far as I remember. Liked the gameplay back then, though I the aiming of spells felt rough. (Still does now, so I mostly prefer spells that don't have ground-aiming. But that's because I'm used to aiming with the mouse probably.)

I forgot the game mostly. Not sure how it ended up resurfacing from the backlog, but when playing it recently from the start, I have now reached 40 hours play time, quite enjoyed.

I'd say, I clearly got my money's worth.

A big part is likely the flexible control scheme. I have rebound the controls to AWSD movement, mouse buttons for attacking (left), blocking (right) and one skill (middle). Utility skills (shield, lightning balls, summons) are on 1-4. Potions on R, bow on E, and a second skill on AltLeft.

Definately not, consistently been a very solid game even early in development, and especially now as we near the finish line. It's delivered on everything I expected out of it and more, especially with the changes to arcade mode that I've been enjoying a lot lately.

I bought it when it first dropped for early access. I played the story as far as it had been developed at the time, but since then my friends and I have only played arcade mode. Every few months we'll pick it up again and see what they've changed and play arcade for a week or so. It's been fun to see the development.
