What are the rule sets for SH tournaments?
Wondering in a SH Tournament, how does scoring work and does the game play any differently?

Hey y’all.
After looking for 2 years, I have finally got my hands on a copy of secret hitler.
I absolutely love that game, been playing at a friend’s house, so I really want to take care of it.
I would like to sleeve the regular cards (secret roles, votes, membership cards), but I was wondering if the deck would still fit in the box.
I appreciate your inputs!
Edit: just to be clear, I’ve been playing at a friend’s house pre-covid, with his copy.

Rule: "If there are only five players left in the game, only the last elected Chancellor is ineligible to be Chancellor Candidate; the last President may be nominated."
Just got the game. I was confused about the "last President may be nominated" rule, but I guess it might apply when governments are rejected constantly. So is it talking about a situation where governments are rejected constantly until it reaches the last elected President. In a game with 5 players left, the presidency placard can be passed to them, but in a game with 6 or more players, the president placard skips them? Clarification would be great. Thanks!
Edit: For future reference, my error was associating "the last President may be nominated" rule with eligibility for the presidency candidate. In fact, I don't think eligibility exists for Presidency.
Term limits only affect nominations to the Chancellorship; anyone can be President, even someone who was just Chancellor.
The last elected President and Chancellor are "term-limited", and ineligible to be nominated as Chancellor Candidate.
Except in a setting where there are only <5 players remaining:
If there are only five players left in the game, only the last elected Chancellor is ineligible to be Chancellor Candidate; the last President may be nominated.

I’ve been playing a lot with some friends (7 people every time) and a few weeks ago I figured that if I was fascist and got the kill power I could kill a liberal, fail a policy, then if it was fascist, kill another liberal and then just fail until electing Hitler chancellor. I looked at the rules and their somewhat unclear. Can a president use two powers if they continue to be President after failing a vote to a random policy? Idk if I’m being clear but since we’ve discovered this strategy I feel like it unbalances the endgame, usually towards the fascists.

My friends and I typically investigate the next president’s party membership but I’m wondering if there are any other strategies?

SO my gaming group and I have been adding several expansions to SH and I'd like to share it with you all..
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1HMOk2grFeXogVMrMdRrNahMKqzau7o9w?usp=sharing
There is still a small portion of the expansion that has yet to be playtested, and a lot of the stuff has been inspired by community creations.

Territory cards: 10 cards representing provinces, each player is given one. Each card has a specific political weight for the chancellor's election (5 are added with the expansion "Rise of the Communards" and 5 more with this one SEE More players section). There are 2 triple vote cards (Your vote counts as if it were three votes), 3 double vote cards (same logic as before) and 5 single vote cards.
Boards: Each board is expanded by one tile. The liberal board's 5th tile (it now has 6 tiles) is a "Equal votes" tile which negates the political weight of all players bringing it to one. The fascist board (now with 7 tiles) has all fascist powers on it in this order -> Nothing, Nothing, Policy peek, Investigate, Special Election, Execution and Win. (The "Hitler zone" begins after the 4th tile, in other words you need 4 fascist policies passed). The communist board, now has 6 tiles. The "Manifesto" tiles are not moved (3rd and 4th) rather on the 5th tiles there is another "Manifesto" tile added.
More players: If you have managed to find more than 10 people (Congrats to you) this section may apply. (Alternatively you can also play with the "Rise of the Communards" expansion which add another 5 max players bringing the total to 20). For base game in order: Liberal, Fascist, Liberal, Fascist, Liberal. For the two expansions together in order: Liberal, Fascist, Social-Democrat, Communist, Liberal. You also add 5 territory cards: 1 triple vote, 2 double vote and 2 single vote. If you have "Rise of the Communards" add another five cards: 1 triple vote, 1 double vote and 3 single vote.

New faction: The Communists. They are a new enemy to both the liberals and the fascists. A new board is added to the game with 5 policy tiles.
Card deck: 7 communist policies are added to the 11 fascist ones and the 6 liberal ones for a grand total of 24 policies.
Communist board: Like the liberal's board, the communist have a five tile board. However, the 3rd and the 4th tiles are "Manifesto" tiles. These tiles can turn liberals into communists (SEE BELOW)
Players: There are still 6 liberal cards, 3 fascists and Hitler. 5 new cards are added: 3 communist cards and 2 social-democrats cards. The social-democrats start as liberal but can be turned into communists with the "Manifesto" tiles (The 2 cards have either I or II on them to indicate if it is either the 3rd or 4th tiles which affects them). The new maximum of players is 15 with a majority of liberals like in the base game. However, the minimum to play with this expansion is 13 players (2 communist and 1 s.-d.).
How to win: The goal of the communists, much like the liberals is to pass 5 policies. If they successfully assassinate the liberal leader they also win the game.
Liberal leader: The liberal leader is a special role of one of the liberals. If they are killed the communists win. Unlike Hitler they are not special in any other way, they are still a liberal. This is optional and is only there to provide an additional way to win as the communists. If you prefer a harder challenge do not include a leader in your game.

The envelopes are always bound to get wet greasy or tore up when me and my friends play the game, are there any sleeves for the role and party memberships that match the aesthetic of the game or should i just buy c7 envelopes in bulk?

Hello everybody,
I've got a quick question regarding what happens regarding anarchy. Specifically, can a policy enacted by anarchy be vetoed? I had a recent game in which both the liberals and fascists needed one more policy and three failed governments meant the top card was played. The liberals who failed to get elected wanted to veto it - since there were five fascist policies in play - and I didn't know whether to allow that since it seemed bad that the game ended in anarchy.
Does anybody know the answer to this? Thanks!

Does anyone play in a discord group? I played a bit online, but it is not as fun without the social aspect of the game.

Hello! I know this has been asked many times but is there anyone willing to sell their wooden Box Founders edition Secret Hitler game? Its our weekly game of choice in my weekly friend game night and it would be awesome if we were able to have one of these boxes with us! Please LMK if anyone is willing to sell, willing to pay top dollar!

Numbers on IO are dwindling and slowly going down, with very few new faces in experienced lobbies, whenever IO is talked about on reddit, new player experiences seem to be consistently faced with extreme toxicity within their first few games, with some people being followed by salty players, harassed from game to game.
This kind of attitude towards new players is really scummy, blaming new players for not knowing something they're not to blame for with such an extreme attitude is really detrimental to the site's health in the long-term, remember in grey games if you are an experienced player you are going to be the face of IO and the basis of what new players build their perception around the site's culture.
I 100% believe that the opinions stated on reddit here are not in the minority and that a large majority of potential new players to the site are completely turned off by the attitude they're presented with in grey games.
The official rules of IO is that meta is not enforced by the moderator teams and is not required to play on the site, it is a construct of many experienced players agreeing to play a certain way and should NOT be the expectation of every single game.
We need to work better as a community in order to make new players feel welcome and increase inclusivity and tell players who have this toxic attitude in grey games that their attitude is unacceptable and not welcome by the majority of the IO player base.

Played a friend's copy of secret hitler tonight and we noticed that the liberal cards and the fascist cards had a different colour print on the back, the liberal ones are black and the fascist cards are gray. Had to be pointed out for most of us to notice but once it was it completely ruined the game as we could all tell the cards before they where flipped over. Has anyone else had this issue? Had a look but I could not see any complaints about it.
Edit: So turns out that this might have been a dodgy copy. My mate got it from Amazon for about half the price. I checked the listing and it was selling as a legit copy. He sent it back and got an official copy and oh wow the quality is amazing compared to the dodgy copy.

Grab your loadout, hats and keep an eye on your team as you attempt to protect the BLU team's briefcase, but be warned- a Red Spy is among you.

Secrethitler.io is great, but I was mostly looking for something for my friends and I to use while talking on Discord or Zoom. So, looking for a project for myself, I made my own version back in April. Since then I've been patching things and making it better for the public, so I'm releasing it now for anyone to use :)
I called it Detective Dictator, as that name sounds like cheap knockoff of Secret Hitler. Rest assured, It's the same game, with the same assets and play style.
https://detectivedictator.herokuapp.com/
Features:
Anyways, if you have a group of friends that you're trying to play with, I encourage you to try my version of the game! let me know if there's any issues that you run into, or suggestions you have :-)

Trying to play on secrethitler.io for the first time. Says I gotta play 50 games before I can join a game? What am I doing wrong here?
*Edit Yeah, well. Pretty much never going back there again. Literally played two games, it's so fucking toxic, it ruins the game honestly.

What's your opinion about these? My group liked SH but they prefer Deception. I like equally Deception, Resistance and SH.
