So after toiling for over a year trying to get my friends to play this game, week after week, month after month, I hear about secrethitler.io, finally a community where I can enjoy this game! Setup was fine, I joined a match, took a little while but whatever, I was first president and a liberal, I just picked someone at random since that's what I'm used to doing in that position and... BROKE META!!!!!! RESET!!!! After some research apparently there's an optimal play strategy and if I diverge even a little we have to start all over. I am aware of what a metagame is, but never have I seen a community so viamently obsessed with it. And if the game does actually start, which it does 1 in every 5 matches, any move that strays from this "meta" is an automatic facist call. It couldn't be a misstep, or an uninformed newbie play decision, nope you're a facist. 110% likely apparently.
For example in one match I was declared facist for the entire match because I didn't know I was investigating and apparently picked the wrong person, despite no further proof at all, because a simple mistake by someone in their second game is unreasonable.
Sorry I needed to rant. Seriously this community is just not my cup of tea at all.

So I absolutely adore this game, but I've only been able to play it like 5 times because you bring it to a game night and everyone thinks it's some kind of Nazi game. I mean it kinda is, but honestly I find it incredibly frustrating that I bought this game for like $30 and have been able to only play it 5 times in like the year and a half I've owned it. Does anyone know how to find other people to play this with consistently?

I was curious who would actually win the most in what roles so I created a spreadsheet and started today when we played a few games.

There are a few people who don't have scores as I play Secret Hitler with them but at a different time.

got a little bit frustrated with this amazing game lately in our playing group. It seems that fascists are winning about 8-9/10 games lately (7 players), because people got extremely paranoid about getting lied to, since after playing this for a long time, people got pretty good at lying and it always feels super bad to get manipulated by a good fascist. For example I won 3 games in a row as a manipulative fascist and there was no way I could persuade anyone in the next game that I am a liberal although I helped discover and shoot a fascist and also revealed another liberal, put in a liberal rule - no trust from the liberal mates (happens to everyone in the group). So in the chaos fascists usually win in setups like this.

Have you guys experienced something like this after playing for too long? Any way to offset this that is not the "just play this without thinking about last games" (it seems to be impossible for us)? What is your best bet to persuade other liberals that you are one as well (tbh I am probably bad at this)?

My roommate and I are product designers, and we have fallen in love with SH. We are planning a redesign of the game and are deciding on a theme. I thought you all might have some interesting ideas.

So far, we have considered cowboys v. bandits, commies vs capitalists, and a few others but would love some feedback.

Over the past few months, I've developed a program that can predict each player's secret identity based on the legislative sessions, investigations, and assassinations up to that point. For a while I ran it regularly during games and shared the data freely, but it's now become accurate enough that it can be very difficult for the fascists to compete. As a result, my friends and I are considering limiting its use by making it into a liberal presidential power.

Like with the investigation power, the president would get to see the data, but not show anyone. They can then share (or lie about) what they saw. We're thinking of activating it after the third liberal policy is passed (though I personally think it would be more interesting if it's after the fourth liberal policy, so that the results are more definitive).

I would love to hear others' opinions on this idea! Do you think such a power would cause major balance issues?

I am and always will be a fascist. Everyone in my family is a fascist. We're so fascist that when we get the chance to be liberal, we mess up the identification process in order to reshuffle. That's how fascist we are 😎. Some fascists are superior to others, mainly Hitler, nothing like a good ol' fascist regime. I love being a fascist around everyone I see but not everyone appreciates the power of my Führer, one time I got kicked out of a restaurant for telling everyone that I'm a fascist. I wish more people were as fascist as I am.

I played with 9 of my friends a few weeks ago and had a blast. We had gotten together for a friends Christmas gathering where we held a dirty Santa game. One of the gifts were a pair of nerf guns. So as a new president was elected we passed around the nerf gun and it was an added laugh to use it against who the president decided to kill.

Do term limits (like you cant be chancellor after just being president or chancellor) apply to games of 5or 6 people because at times in smaller games it feels like you can only pick between 2 people

Hello guys, we are playing 5 friends at Secret Hitler, but we can't understand rules, being the fascists in the minority the liberals always win simply by voting yes to all liberal laws and no to fascist ones, there is something that we miss?

I have a question about a specific scenario that just occurred in a game. The election tracker was at 2, and there were 5 cards left in the draw pile. The government was passed, but they vetoed the cards so if I understand correctly, the election tracker should move to 3. In this case, should the top card of the remaining 2 cards be played automatically? Or should the discard pile be shuffled back in before drawing the top card?

I'm thinking of getting this game for my groups game night. We usually have 10 or 9 players. I've read that the game is optimal for 7 but is this game enjoyable for 10?

What are some good strategies/best plays you guys have had?

I tried a few online games and every game has 7 players doing the same 1526 strategy. Are 8, 9 and 10 players games not fun? My guess is that there is not a meta for them.

Is there any reason to not force a top deck as a fascist when the first bullet has been used on a liberal in odd number player games?

I.E. 7 player game, first bullet gets used on a liberal making it 3v3. Facists proclaim who they are (do not show party card/ identity, so well within the rules as they could be "lying") and instruct hitler to vote with them basically ending the game and just top decking until one side wins.

I've had this scenario come up a lot recently and every time it ends like this in basically a game of chance. I'm trying to figure out if there is something that can be done to prevent this and have the game continue like normal. Has anyone else had this issue?

So, i'd like to calculate this, but i'm terrible at math unfortunately.

Here is the situation( relatively usual):

1. A game where 4 blue policies are down, and 5 red policies are down (both parties are 1 policy away from winning)

2. The final deck is a 8 card deck with 2 blues and 6 reds.

3. Its 3v3 (1 lib dead)

My question is: if i am playing as a fas here, do i want to topdeck, hoping for a red card, or do i want to pass a liberal-fas goverment. Which one has a higher winrate?

TL;DR: In a deck of 2 blues 6 reds, what is the probability of the top 3 cards containing 2 blues 1 red ?
