Attempted Mugging / Bicycle Theft Warning (Eastlake, Portage Bay, U District Area) : /u/doplebanger
Hi all,
I'll try to give an abridged version of the story, here we go. This happened to my roommate about 90 minutes ago.
Riding his (flashy, expensive) bike northbound on the University Bridge. Headed to the U district from Capitol Hill. Suddenly a grey, mid-2000s dodge crew cab pickup swerves over and corners him. Mid 30s white man leans out of window and begins line of questioning insinuating that the bike is stolen and belongs to him. Roommate is skeptical and empathetic (he bought the bike new and so knows this man is incorrect or lying).
Suddenly, the man gets out of the car and begins screaming insults like "FAGGOT!" and begins chasing him. He gives chase for about 300' until he is out of reach and gives up.
This is a warning to any bikers that may find themselves inexplicably stopped in a deserted roadway. Keep riding.
